Charlotte’s POV

I was shocked when I opened my eyes and saw Ryan with our boss. I thought a saw a glimpse of worry on Jack’s face, but then it went back to his usual look of stone so maybe I was wrong. Ryan on the other hand looked super worried.  “Charlotte hun are you ok? Are you in pain? The ambulance is on its way”. Ryan bent down right in front of me.

I thought about his question “My head” I went to try push myself up and realised that I could not feel anything from my waist down “I can’t feel my legs” I sobbed.

“It’s ok we will get you checked out, I will make sure that arsehole can never hurt you again”.

I looked at him in shock, how could he promise something like that? I noticed Jack had left to talk to another guy. “You can’t save me from him” I looked up at Ryan “I have nowhere to go, I need to go back to him. I have no one else”.

“You can stay with me until you get back on your feet” He smiled at me and took my hand.

I was about to tell him I could not do that when the ambulance arrived, and Jack walked back over to us. I was shocked when he told the medics to take me to a private hospital and to put me in a private room. He was going to pay for it all too. Why would he do that for me? I did not get chance to ask as I was soon being assessed and asked heaps of questions regarding where I hurt and what had happened. I told them that I was thrown, and my back hit the wall followed by my head. That I blacked out and when I came too both Ryan and Jack were with me. They soon grabbed a stretcher and moved me to the ambulance. The poor medic who got in the back with me looked scared shitless when both Ryan and Jack climbed in with me. Both men were huge and pure muscle, Ryan was the bigger of the two, but Jack has the angry face. I soon arrived at the hospital and was surrounded by doctors and sent off for an x-ray. I tried to keep an eye on Ryan and Jack, but I has so many doctors around me and was getting moved so much that I lost them. An IV was placed in my hand and they started to give me pain killers. Soon I could feel myself feeling light and drowsy, by the time I was sent to the room I would be staying in I was completely spaced out. I smiled and waved at Ryan and Jack who were both stood by the door glaring at the doctors. I wonder what got up their noses. The doctor glared right back and walked over to my bedside.

“Are you happy for me to talk with these two present?” He motioned with his hand towards Ryan and Jack.

“Hey boss man is paying the bill, he can stay as long as he likes” I giggled.

They both gave me an odd look at the doctor frowned at them but started to explain my injuries.

“You have a slight concussion, so we need to keep an eye on that. You also have a lot of swelling around your spine. We can not see any break, but we would like to keep you in and give you another x-ray in a few days” He turned to Jack “I understand that you are going to be paying the bill”.

“That is correct”

“She will be in here for at least a week, we will know more after her next x-ray. We will also need to know where she will be staying after discharge as she will need a rehabilitation program in place and will most likely be in a wheelchair for a while”.

“That is fine, I am happy to pay the bill. When she is discharged, she will be coming home with us”.

I looked at him in shock, he had to be kidding right? If the girls at work knew I was living with him they would kill me.

The doctor must have noticed the look of panic on my face. “If you do not want to stay with them, let me know and I can find a safe place for you”.

“Why would she not want to live with us?” Jack glared at the doctor.

“She looked panicked when you advised that she would be staying with you” The doctor shot back.

Ryan walked over and sat in the chair next to my bed “We want you to stay with us so that we can keep you safe hun. You won’t be alone with Jack, I will be there too”.

“You live with Jack?”

“All of the guards live with him” He smiled at me “So what do you say? Want to come live with a whole heap of guys? Two of us already like you and want to keep you safe”.

“Two of you? I only ever speak to you” I was wondering if he was talking about Jack, but that was crazy he does not like me.

“Grant, you have not met him. He has a special role, he has seen you though”.

“Oh ok” I let out a huge yawn and blushed “I guess all the excitement tired me out.

“We will let you sleep, try to relax. We will have a guard always positioned outside your door to keep you safe” Jack advised while showing no emotion on his face.

“Why?”

“Why what?” He looked at me confused.

“Why are you helping me?”

“Let’s just say that we have a mutual enemy”.

“You’re after my husband?”

“I am and I am hoping that once you are out of here you will be able to help me get him”.

I smiled at him, and he smiled back “I will help you in any way I can. I want him to suffer the same way he made me suffer”.
