Jack’s POV

I was pissed, where was that wanka hiding? My rival had a new 2IC who was trying to steal away my business. I did not like anyone going against me, I knocked Gavin my rival back years ago. Now he was suddenly back and had a guy who was too bloody good and was getting in my way. As we pulled up to the office, I saw the girl that Ryan likes to talk to move against the wall. She was the only girl in the office who did not throw herself at me, she did not even give me a second look and I hated how much that bothered me. I was good-looking guy and stinking rich, I could not understand why she did not check me out like the other girls. The only one she seemed to talk to was Ryan, she would always make him a coffee every morning. I arrived at my desk and started to look though surveillance footage. I had the guy’s face, but I could not find anything else out about the guy. It was like he was a ghost. He was trying to get all my contacts on his side and turn them against me. I still had this business, but he was getting into my underworld business and that was the business that made me all my money. My PA came in with my lunch and coffee, I mumbled a thank you without looking up from my screen. I did not realise how late it was until I saw an email pop up from Charlotte. She had already completed my request for the meeting booklets. I was expecting them by the end of the week. She may not look at me, but I could not fault her work, I had to admit she was an asset to the company. Suddenly Ryan came over my head piece. “He is here”

“Who?” I grunted back. I was too busy for him to be cryptic with me.

“The guy we have been looking for, he is stood right over the road. Does he know about this identity?”

“No one knows who I really am, he must be here for something else. Keep an eye on him” I stopped what I was doing and moved to look at the camera that was placed by the entrance. Ryan was right, he was stood on the other side of the road with a huge grin on his face. I knew that look, he was about to hurt someone. I carried on looking and saw Charlotte walk over to him. I noticed the worried look she had on her face when she looked back. I assumed it was Ryan she was looking at, as he was not in the view of the camera.

“Jack, he just left with Charlotte” Ryan told me sounding worried.

“That’s the girl who does the brochures and advertising for me” I decided to act dumb and like I had not been watching the camera feed.

 “That’s the one, she is also has an abusive husband and that jackarse is her husband”.

“Grant grab Jeff and follow them, I will finish up here and we will go in the car”. I was shocked, I had no idea that she was married. I was even more shocked that any man would want to hurt a pretty thing like her.

“Please make sure she is ok” Ryan whispered.

“I like her too man, I will make sure she is ok. I cannot say the same for the mother fucker of a husband though” Grant told him. I smiled to myself, it seemed the girl had managed to get under the skin of two of my best men. I turned off my earpiece and grabbed my phone before heading down to follow them in the car.  Ryan got in the back with me while my other men Lance and Warren got in the front.

“I am really worried about her, she had seemed happy the last few days. I thought she had left him, now I am thinking that he might just not have been home for a few days”. Grant was so nervous his leg was bouncing. He was one of my best men, I had never seen him like this before.

“You like this girl or something?” I hated the small wave of jealousy in my gut.

“Not like that, more like a brotherly kind of way. She is a sweet girl, and she brings me coffee”.

I grunted as Grant gave us her location and we arrived. I saw the guy we had been after pick Charlott up and throw her against a wall. She looked in a bad way “Go get that son of a bitch” I ordered Lance and Warren “Ryan ring an ambulance” I climbed out of the car and walked over to her. She was unconscious but I could see her chest moving so she was still breathing.

Ryan came running over “They are on their way” He bent down, and he was about to move her”.

“Don’t move her man, her back hit the wall first. If you move her, you might cause her more damage”.

She opened her eyes and looked at us.

“Charlotte hun are you ok? Are you in pain? The ambulance is on its way” Ryan bent down in front of her.

“My head” She tried to move “I can’t feel my legs” She sobbed.

“Its ok we will get you checked out, I will make sure that arsehole can never hurt you again”.

I stood up and walked away when I noticed Grant coming over to me “Did you get him?”

“Sorry boss he managed to get away. He had a car and a driver waiting for him”.

“Fuck” I yelled.

“We need to keep her close as I think he will come back for her”.

“That could work to my advantage” I smiled “Looks like we are now in the possession of something he will want back”.

“Just please don’t let her get hurt, she is a sweet girl”.

“I am sure between you and Ryan you can keep her safe” I grunted. The ambulance arrived so I walked over to meet them “I want her moved to a private hospital in a private room, I will pay all of the bills” I handed the medic my card “My bodyguard Ryan and I will also be traveling in the ambulance with you”.
