POV: Cameron

The next morning felt heavier. Like the weight of everything we didn’t say was sitting between us at the kitchen table. Brandon was stirring sugar into his coffee like it was the most important thing in the world. I was pretending to read something on my phone, even though my screen was black.

We hadn’t talked about what happened last night—not really. Sure, he said it was okay not to know what it meant. But how long could we live in this weird, blurry space?

I couldn’t stop thinking about how his fingers brushed mine. How gentle his voice had been. How much I wanted to stay… and how terrified that made me.

He looked up from his mug. “You going home today?”

I blinked. The question felt sharp, like it had claws.

“Yeah,” I said after a beat. “I should.”

He nodded, too quickly. “Cool.”

Cool? Really?

The silence came back like a storm cloud.

I swallowed. “Do you think this was a mistake?”

He didn’t answer right away. Just sat there, staring into his coffee like it held a map

Brandon’s fingers brushed against mine as we walked up the stairs to his room, and my stupid heart was still racing from everything I did with him just hours before. My mind also went back to the car and I felt my cheeks heat from embarrassment. I couldn’t believe I said all that. I’d buried that part of myself for so long, like if I didn’t say it out loud, maybe it didn’t happen. But he listened. He didn’t flinch. He didn’t try to fix me. He just… stayed. And now he was here, right behind me, in my space. And it felt okay. His room was quiet except for the hum of the AC. I kicked off my slides, I tried to act normal even though my head was full of Brandon. Of his hands. His eyes. That way he kissed my cheek like it was a secret. And his lips were against my skin, how he brutalized my body and made me want more.“You want something to drink or whatever?” I asked, fidgeting with the hem of my shirt.Brandon just grinned, already plopping down onto my bed like he’d been here a thousand

Cameron POVBrandon liked the movie, which was a huge relief. I don’t know what I would have done if he hadn’t liked my favorite movie of all time. After our little moment in the car, things shifted. He wasn’t cold or mean, just a little awkward.Should we not have held hands? Was that too coupley? My stomach coiled as I pulled into the driveway, bracing myself for the cold shoulder.Instead, as I parked the car, he said, “Go upstairs and shower. By the time I get to your room, I want you naked and ready for me. You should be on all fours on the floor in your bedroom, ass up, face down, waiting for me to unload in you, or I’m beating your ass again. Got it?”“I couldn’t suppress the groan that escaped me when he said that. “Yes, sir,” I replied. He smirked and said, “Good boy. Hurry.”I bolted out of the car and bounded to the upstairs shower. Having sex with Brandon while his mum and dad weren’t home was the best. They weren’t staying overnight somewhere, though, so we had to be

Brandon POVMy parent were out again, and Cameron wanted to drag us to a movie theater to see a showing of The NeverEnding Story. He said it was a seminal movie of his youth and sparked his undying love for fantasy and magic.I never knew he liked those kind of this.I’d heard of it but never saw it.He was driving, so I took it upon myself to do a little research on this cinematic masterpiece on our way to the theater.“This movie is from fucking 1985!”“Yeah?” Cameron replied.“How the fuck did you see a movie from 1985? Are you a grandpa that had access to a Time Machine?”Cameron smiled, but it wasn’t a happy one. It was a wistful smile. “My mum loved them and showed it to me. I still have the DVD player she used them and she loved this movie, too. I spent a lot of time with her when…”His voice trailed off, and his eyes looked kind of far away. Sad. I shouldn’t have pressed him on it—I knew that—but I also knew so little about Cameron. And every time he gave me a little piece

POV: BrandonLook. I wasn’t proud of it. The whole jealousy thing.I mean, it’s not like I thought Cameron was gonna run off with Erica or anything. He literally kissed me in the rain like we were in some indie movie soundtrack moment. But still… when he smiled across that café window and saw her?Something twisted in my chest, it made me lose my breath.“You think she’d come though?” I stuffily asked, trying to keep it casual, sipping my iced tea like I wasn’t spiraling inside.Cameron blinked, his eyes still on where she was across the street. “Who Erica? Yeah. I mean, if we invite her.”He said it so simply. Like it didn’t mean anything. Like it was just inviting an old friend.I forced a grin. “Cool. You want me to add her to the list?”Cam raised a brow, amused. “I already did that and you have offering to help with the guest list for a while now? What happened to ‘I’ll just show up in a tux and look hot’?”“I can multitask sunshine,” I said with a dazzling smile, I pulled out my

Cameron POVOkay, here’s the thing—I wasn’t trying to think about Drake. I really wasn’t.But every time I closed my eyes lately, that moment kept flashing back like a cursed TikTok filter. His hand on my jaw. The kiss. My brain doing a full system crash mid-lip-lock. And worst of all—how much I hate it.Gross.It was like someone took a Sharpie to my mental whiteboard and wrote EMOTIONAL DAMAGE in all caps. But I wasn’t going there today. Not now. Not when Brandon was sitting across from me in our usual spot at Luma Café, looking way too pretty for a guy who just threw on a hoodie and still had syrup on his chin from the pancakes we inhaled earlier.“So we’re not inviting anyone who’s ever ghosted either of us, right?” I asked, stabbing my iced vanilla oat latte like it owed me money.Brandon snorted. “If that’s the rule, this list’s about to be real damn short.”I grinned, flipping open our chaotic notebook—boldly labeled ENGAGEMENT CHAOS in glitter gel pen, courtesy of his wonderf

Brandon POV The market was straight-up chaos, but like… the good kind. The kind where your senses go haywire and everything smells like spice, sugar, and trouble. People were everywhere—selling handmade stuff, weird trinkets, and fried snacks that honestly shouldn’t smell that good.I was walking next to Cameron, watching the way his brows knit together every time he saw something questionable. He stopped at a table full of hats and pointed at this crusty fedora with a stain that looked way too close to blood.“That one’s haunted,” he muttered.I laughed. “I’d still wear it better than you.”“Lies.” He rolled his eyes and moved on like he wasn’t the cutest thing in a 10-mile radius. His fingers brushed over old journals and beaded necklaces, and I stayed close, like gravity just worked better when I was next to him. We’d spent the whole morning being idiots on the road—windows down, yelling throwback songs, me sneaking glances at him when he wasn’t looking. I didn’t care where we wer
