Chapter 3 - Just like fireworks

Julius sits on a fallen log and looks at Romeo.

- I don't know what the Moon Goddess was thinking, but you are my mate. And the way we met, tell me that you know that too.

Romeo buffs and responds:

- Vampires don't have mates.

- But they have destined companions. I know that, and in the end, it works the same way.

Romeo sighs and sits down on a small rock, a few steps away from Julius.

- We have to resolve this before anyone gets suspicious. Just being here talking to you is a betrayal of my species. – Romeo says.

- I agree. How can we solve this? By law, I cannot reject my mate without the king's consent.

- What? If you're going to tell your father, mine will know too. From that and let everyone know, it's just a few seconds.

- I know. – Julius lowers his head. – We could try to do this illegally… but I hate committing a crime, being who I am.

Romeo buffs again.

- I don't know what you're complaining about. You m…wolves, you have a second chance mate. My situation is worse. Whoever thought we made a good match is an idiot, even though they are gods. Us, vampires, we don't have a second chance to have a destined partner. We can choose someone to spend our lives with, but that is an eternity without love.

Julius scoff.

- As if it were possible, in our situation, for you to have an eternity of love.

Romeo blushes, but quickly recovers. He gets up and looks at Julius with hatred in his eyes.

- I only see two solutions for us. Either you reject me and I accept, or we fight to the death.

- If we fight to the death, whoever wins will have a price on their head. Our parents will never forgive. – Julius says.

- And are you afraid of facing the consequences?

- No, but the war between our species has been calm. No one has died on either side. If we fight to the death, we will energize the war and there will be more deaths than ever before.

Romeo looks at Julius. He was right.

- Then reject me. If we do it secretly, no one will find out.

- Rejecting a mate is not a simple task. The pain…

- Oh come on! Is the great crown prince afraid of a little pain?

Julius blushes and lowers his head.

- The pain is not just a little pain, and it can kill. – He looks at Romeo – we have to meet outside neutral ground and far away from others of our species. As I learned, the pain of breaking a matebond is so tremendous that it can be impossible to hide it from others like us. I don't know if it's a cup of tea for vampires, but I don't think you want my companions to feel what I did and run to me and end up finding you.

- It makes sense. But where? You know that outside of neutral ground, you and I are in danger. Especially because of who we are.

Both remain silent, thinking, and being surrounded by the scent. The damn scent of green apples and cinnamon that made Romeo swallow hard, and the scent of hot chocolate with vanilla that made Julius' mouth water.

Simultaneously, they both fix their eyes on each other. Seconds pass with blank minds and hearts beating heavily in their chests.

- The mountain waterfalls. – Julius finally breaks the strange silence and says.

Romeo turns his head towards the mountain and nods.

- Yes, it seems like a good place. We have to be extra careful not to be seen and followed.

Julius gets up, being imitated by Romeo.

- It's agreed. When do we do this? – he asks, stretching out his hand.

- Why not now? The sooner, the better, and we are already here at this time. We can run there. – Romeo responds, grabbing the hand that Julius was unconsciously extending to him.

Oh, my Goddess. The electricity that the contact of the two palms caused in both of them was something neither of them had ever felt. It seemed as if every nerve in their bodies took on a life of its own. They both quickly separate their hands, but it was too late. The electricity and sparks they generated were impossible to stop. Like fireworks, it is impossible to stop once it rises into the sky.

Their eyes lock, unable to say a word, and their eyes move from their eyes to their lips and from their lips to their eyes. Desire runs through their bodies and their cocks throb.

The moment was short-lived. Julius coughs.

- Maybe it's better to leave this for tomorrow. How about we meet there at the same time tomorrow? – Julius says.

- Yes, I think it's better. – He turns his back and walking away, adds – let's end this as quickly as possible. The less interaction I have with a mutt, the better.

In a split second, he disappears.

Julius hugged himself. What had that been? Goddess, how come he was momentarily flooded with emotions other than hate?

When Romeo gets in the car and goes to his apartment, in the human city, his hands shake so much that he has to squeeze the steering wheel with all his strength. The white knuckles were indicative of this strength.

When he finally enters the house, Romeo falls onto the sofa.

- Fuck, what was that?

His body was still shaking with the tinkling of sparks that contact with Julius's hand had caused, and his heart, despite pumping cold blood, was beating fast.

Trying to compose himself, he undresses and gets under the water, letting the hot liquid caress his hair and run down his body.

With his eyes closed, he stays there, waiting for the pleasure of the hot water to replace the emptiness that Julius's physical separation had left.

His stubborn brain didn't seem to want to give up. Julius's green eyes were all he could think about. Under the hot water, Romeo shudders and his cock comes to life. Panting, he lets his hand run down his body until he grabs his cock.

Romeo opens his eyes a lot and gets scared about what he was doing. No! That couldn't happen. Jerking off thinking about the mutt was stupid, dangerous and disgusting.

He turns on the cold water and shudders as the hot water is replaced by icy liquid. He stays under that torture until his body stops reacting, and his cock returns to normal. He turns off the water, dries himself with a towel, put on his pajama pants and lies down.

Julius accelerates the motorcycle along the road, heading towards the apartment his father rented in the city. He enters the garage, after the gate opens, parks the bike and takes off his helmet. Facing the wall, he didn't move. He didn't even know how he managed to bring the motorcycle home. His body trembled. When his hand touched Romeo's hand, it was as if all reason was enveloped in pure desire. He hadn't been able to think. The only thing his mind could admit at that moment was pulling Romeo against his chest and capturing his lips with his.

Julius's body shudders, making the motorbike rock and reminding him that he was still in the garage, and on the motorbike. He gets off the motorcycle and walks to the elevator, with the helmet on his arm.

When he finally enters the house, he drops his helmet on the table, and drops his leather jacket on the floor.

Losing his clothes along the way, he goes to the shower and lets the scalding water burn his skin.

Nothing seemed to make that desire lessen, not even the water that fell on him, which was too hot to bear. He gets out of the shower, dries off and puts on his pajamas, then sits down on the bed.

With his face buried in his hands and his elbows on his legs, he sighs. How could he be feeling all that for a leech?

“Because he is our mate.” – his wolf answers, after remaining mysteriously silent for so long.

- He's a bloodsucker. How can he be our mate? – Julius asked in despair.

"I don't know. All I know is that he is our mate. You can’t reject him like you planned.”

- Are you listening to what you're saying? Are you some idiot? He is the son of the enemy king. Do you think that even if in a crazy idea I accepted him as my mate, this would last? Our two species will kill us.

“Who knows if this is an attempt to end the war by the Moon Goddess?”

- End the war? You don't know what you're saying. This would only increase the number of deaths and hostilities.

“You may be right.” – the wolf says, in a sad voice. – “but I don’t want to give up our mate.”

- If the Moon Goddess allows it, there will be a second chance of finding another mate.

"It might be. Maybe not." – replies the wolf in a defeated voice, as he moves away into the depths of Julius' mind.

Sighing, he drops his body onto the bed and closes his eyes.

The perfect figure of Romeo emerged through the walls where he had closed his mind. The perfect face, framed by the long, almost white hair and the violet eyes of the man the Goddess gave him as his mate, filled all his senses. His cock pulses again, and without realizing it, he reaches under the waistband of his pajama pants and grabs his long, thick cock, completely erect.

With his eyes closed, he moans, while caressing himself, thinking about Romeo's violet eyes.

What was he doing?

- Stop putting images in my head. – he says to his wolf in an irritated tone.

The wolf laughs.

"You don't need me to put anything in your head. It was you doing that, all alone. Besides, since you've started, get on with it. You're painfully hard."

With a scoff, Julius ignores his erection and lies down on his side on the bed, covering himself with the blankets, prepared to fall asleep, which was not going to be easy.

It took a couple of hours for Julius' cock to fall asleep, and for him to fall into the world dominated by Morpheus. But even then, he couldn't stop dreaming about the owner of the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen.
