The color drained from my uncle, Steve Cutterson's face. He lunged at me and snatched my phone from me, exclaiming, "Stop spouting nonsense! You forged that screenshot!"

I dodged out of the way and aimed a kick at Uncle Steve's knee, forcing him to fall to his knees in front of Dominic Langdon with a loud thud.

Dominic toyed with the bloody knife. "800 dollars?" he asked in an icy voice.

Uncle Steve trembled violently. He pointed an accusing finger at me and shouted, "Don't fall for this bastard's lies, Mr. Langdon! I gave him 80,000 dollars in cash! He's the one who embezzled the money! He then forged an 800-dollar transaction record to bamboozle you!"

I scoffed. "You claim to have given me the money in cash, but do you have proof that you withdrew 80,000 dollars from the bank, Uncle Steve?"

Uncle Steve gritted his teeth and hissed, "I took the cash from my own home. It's from my own personal stash of money that I've been saving up for the past six months."

Dominic glanced at his subordinate who was standing behind him, a bald man named Kevin Mills.

Kevin stepped forward and snatched my phone from me. He briefly scrolled through it before handing it to Dominic, saying, "The transaction record is real, Mr. Langdon. It was processed this morning at 8:00 am."

Dominic slapped Uncle Steve hard across his face.

Blood stained the corner of his lips while a tooth flew out from the impact.

"How dare you embezzle my money, Steve Cutterson?"

Fear gripped Uncle Steve's heart, and he immediately began to grovel at Dominic's feet for mercy.

"I'm being framed, Mr. Langdon! That brat is a computer whiz. He must have hired someone to hack into my account to forge the transaction record! Not only did he embezzle the money that you planned to use to purchase premium seafood, but he's also trying to pin the blame on me!"

I stared into Uncle Steve's eyes and said, "You truly are a stubborn man, Uncle Steve. I was at your station when you transferred the money to me this morning. The surveillance camera recorded everything that you said while we were there."

Uncle Steve's body stiffened. His complexion turned deathly pale, and he couldn't stammer out a single word.

Just then, a fat woman burst through the crowd and slapped me across my face.

It was my aunt, Valerie Dane.

Aunt Valerie pointed an accusing finger at me and screamed, "You ungrateful bastard! How dare you embezzle Mr. Langdon's money when we decided to give you a job out of the kindness of our hearts?

"I know that your mother had a heart attack and is teetering between life and death in the hospital. You decided to risk your own life and throw my family under the bus just so you can claim the 80,000 dollars for yourself to pay her medical bills!"

Uncle Steve's eyes lit up upon hearing Aunt Valerie's words. He hastily pointed an accusing finger at me and roared, "She's right! Did you hear what she said, Mr. Langdon? This brat lost his mind because he's desperate for money!

"Not only did he steal your money, but he also hired someone to create fake surveillance footage to drag me down!

"Jordan! Jordan, come quick!"

My cousin, Jordan Cutterson, squeezed through the crowd while brandishing a metal bat. "What's up, Dad?" he asked.

Uncle Steve pointed at me and spat, "That bastard embezzled Mr. Langdon's money that he was supposed to use to purchase premium seafood. Now, he's trying to pin the blame on me. I want you to beat him to a pulp!"

Jordan didn't say another word as he lifted the bat and attempted to smash it against my head.

I quickly dodged out of the way.

The bat smashed against the plates on the table instead with a deafening bang, sending the sardines and crayfish rocketing in all directions.

"Stop!" Dominic roared, kicking the table over.

Jordan immediately froze in place out of fear.

Dominic stalked toward me and pressed the tip of the knife against my chest. "You mentioned that there's a surveillance camera installed near his station, brat?"

I nodded. "Yes. The camera's connected to his phone, so you can check the footage directly from his phone."

Uncle Steve started panicking and hastily covered his pocket.

"I'll make sure you die a horrible death, Caleb!""If I die, I'll turn into a ghost and haunt you for the rest of your life!"I felt completely calm even as Uncle Steve and Aunt Valerie hurled their threats at me. In fact, I felt elated that I had successfully taken my revenge.Dominic looked at me and said, "Everything's settled now. You should leave, brat."I nodded respectfully at him after I grabbed the card from the desk. "Thank you, Mr. Langdon."I then turned around and headed for the door."Wait," Dominic suddenly called out.I halted my footsteps.Dominic tossed a set of car keys at me, saying, "You're pretty ruthless, brat. And you're smart too. I need someone to take over Steve's position of handling my purchases. That's your responsibility now. Take the car. Treat it as an advance for your salary."I caught the car keys and glanced at them. They belonged to a Mercedes.I didn't reject Dominic's offer. "Thank you, Mr. Langdon. I promise you that the items that I pu

Dominic turned to look at me. "What? Are you going to plead for mercy on his behalf?"I shook my head and said, "You'll be giving him an easy way out if you kill him now, Mr. Langdon. He stole five million dollars from you. Don't you want to get your money back from him?"Dominic lowered his gun and asked, "Does he even have any money to give me?"I pointed at Uncle Steve and said, "He has two properties under his name, a luxury car, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in savings. His wife, Valerie, also has some savings. If we total everything up, there should be at least two million dollars."Uncle Steve glared at me. "Are you trying to drive my family to bankruptcy, Caleb?"I kneeled down and looked into his eyes. "Did you think about giving me a way out when you forced me to sign that 80,000-dollar promissory note? Did you consider showing mercy when you sent your men to abduct Mom from the hospital? I'm simply paying you back for what you did to me—an eye for an eye."Domin

"You're the one who said that Mr. Langdon's a fool! You said that he wouldn't notice even if we stole some of his money!" Jordan shouted.Uncle Steve and Jordan were at each other's throats, pushing the blame on each other.I looked at them coldly and said, "Not only did you embezzle Mr. Langdon's money, Steve, but you also pinned the blame on me. You forced me to sign that 80,000-dollar promissory note, and you sold me to the underground boxing ring. I bet you never thought that you would end up in such a predicament."Uncle Steve pointed an accusing finger at me and shouted, "You damned bastard, Caleb! This is all your fault! You mustn't fall for his lies, Mr. Langdon. He's trying to drive a wedge between us!"Dominic kicked Uncle Steve. "Driving a wedge between us? I have the account book and the surveillance footage. What other excuses are you going to come up with?"He walked over to Uncle Steve and looked down at him from the tip of his nose, saying, "According to my rules,

I played the recording that I took earlier when I was backstage.Jordan's and Barry's voices resounded from my phone."I know that the 80,000 dollars that your father used to pay Mr. Langdon was actually his own money that he was going to use to purchase seafood. Using Mr. Langdon's own money to pay him. You truly do take him for a fool."Dominic's expression had turned as dark as coals by the time the recording finished playing. He snapped the cigar in half. "How dare Steve play me for a fool and use my own money to pay the debt that he owes me?"I looked at Dominic and said, "Jordan is in your casino now, Mr. Langdon. He just borrowed another 50,000 dollars. The truth will come to light if you investigate his account right now.""Gather your men and head to the casino, Kevin," Dominic said as he stood up. "Bring Jordan to me!"Ten minutes later, a tied-up Jordan was thrown on the floor of Dominic's office.Jordan's expression twisted when he noticed me. "Caleb? What are you do

I was thrown into a steel cage in the underground boxing ring.Hosting underground boxing matches was one of Dominic's business endeavors. There were no rules, and the matches only came to an end when someone dropped dead.Kevin stood outside the cage and tossed a bottle of water at me."You have a match tonight, brat. We'll reduce your debt by 10,000 dollars if you win. You'll die if you lose."I twisted the bottle cap open and drained half of the bottle in a single breath. The stab wound on the back of my hand was still bleeding. I tore a strip of fabric from the hem of my shirt and bandaged it.I had to survive. I couldn't afford to die. Mom was still waiting for me in the hospital, and I still had to make Uncle Steve and his family pay for their transgressions against us.…It was 8:00 pm.The boxing ring was filled with excited noises from the spectators.I was shoved into the ring.My opponent was a muscular man who was six feet tall. Jordan pulled out his phone and dialed a number."Hello. I want you to gather a few men to drop by the cardiology department in the municipal hospital. The woman you're looking for is in Ward 302. She's my aunt, Elise Cutterson. That's right. Bring her to the kitchens of the Grand Empire Hotel."There was a loud buzzing noise in my ears. They were actually going to the hospital to abduct Mom!…Half an hour later, a group of hooligans strode through the kitchen doors, pushing a woman in a wheelchair. It was Mom. Her complexion was deathly pale, and she was still wearing an oxygen mask."Mom!" I shouted hoarsely.Mom began panting heavily when she noticed the bloody state I was in. "What happened to you, Caleb?"Aunt Valerie grabbed a fistful of Mom's hair and exclaimed, "Take a good look at your dear son! He got caught stealing 80,000 dollars from Mr. Langdon and was punished for it!""That's impossible! Caleb's not a thief!" Mom exclaimed while shaking her head wildly.Uncl
