LOGINZarek POV
I jolted awake, a sharp pain splitting my skull. My body trembled as my eyes darted around, trying to make sense of the shadows. The room was bare, walls pressing in, no windows, no doors I could see. A cold wave of panic hit me. My chest tightened, and I struggled for air. I tried to move, and something clung to me tightly, making me wince in pain. I was tied to a chair, my hands secured tightly behind my back. A swift click echoed across the room, and someone walked in. His steps grew heavier with each second as he closed the distance between us. “Good to see you’re awake, Prince,” he dragged the last word, and I was sure he was mocking me. “Who are you, and what do you want from me?” I demanded. He chuckled slowly, his hands rubbing over the gun. He tilted my chin up so my eyes met his gaze. “Your karma,” he whispered, sending chills through me. Those were the same words he had said in the car, and the last thing I remembered was being choked with a handkerchief before I lost consciousness. He let go and pointed the gun directly at my head, his eyes darkening, his jaw ticking each second like a countdown. “If it’s money you want, I can have my father send it. Name the amount, just please don’t kill me,” I pleaded, my voice cracking. He didn’t answer, letting the silence hang between us, heavier than the gun pressed to my head. “For a prince, you are the dumbest creature I’ve ever met,” he smirked. Then he lifted my chin with the gun, and I swallowed hard. “Your father ordered the killing of my entire family… and you think this is about money?” His voice dropped into a low growl as he stepped closer, his rough hand brushing against my collarbone. I flinched. “I’m going to cut you into small pieces and deliver you to his doorstep.” My chest tightened, and my knees threatened to buckle. My stomach twisted like a rollercoaster gone rogue, bile rising hot in my throat. “Please… you don’t have to get your—” Before I could finish, something slammed against the door with the force of a battering ram. The wood splintered, shards flying, and the impact rattled the ceiling above us like the building itself was shivering in fear. “That was easy,” an unknown voice said. He stepped in, his gun aimed at us. “Don’t come any further, or I’ll shoot his brains out,” the kidnapper warned, pressing the gun harder against my head. “Go ahead. You’d save us some stress,” another voice came from the doorway. I turned. And there he was. That face… I could recognize it from anywhere, even in a crowd of strangers. A smirk tugged at his lips, and those eyes carried a danger that made my blood run cold. Aziel. He moved like the room itself bent around him, like he hadn’t just offered me up as a sacrificial lamb… like he owned the moment. Time slowed. My hands itched to pull free, to shove, to fight but every instinct screamed stay frozen. His presence slammed into me, pinning my chest and squeezing the air from my lungs. The gun in his hand was a warning, it wasn’t the weapon that made my pulse spike. It was him. “Please, don’t listen to him. I’ll pay. I’ll give you anything you want, just name it,” I pleaded amid anger and fear. I had to get out before it was too late. “What the hell is your problem? Do you want this psycho to kill me?” I snapped. Aziel’s eyes didn’t blink. “What can I say? Better a dead man,” he replied, and the coldness in his voice intensified. Before I could process his words, a loud, piercing sound vibrated through the room, followed by a cry. The man fell with a thud as blood splattered across the room, his head rolling off his body. Aziel’s voice remained calm. “Stay out of my way,” he said, almost casually. “Jesus,” I shrieked, swinging my head back, and Aziel was still holding his gun up. My chest heaved as the realization hit, this wasn’t over. “Luciano, untie him,” he ordered the other man. For what felt like minutes, the ropes were finally untied. “Get moving, kitten,” Aziel commanded as I stretched my limbs and stood up from the chair. “Stop calling me that, and I’m not going anywhere with you,” I blurted, folding my arms. “I don’t have time for your bratty attitude,” he scorned. I curled my hand into a fist, my eyes twitching as I stepped forward and landed a punch on his nose. My knuckles burned from the impact, yet he didn’t even flinch. I swung again at his chest, but he remained rooted in place. That only angered me more. I wanted nothing more than to jump on his annoying, stupid face, but before I could, Luciano grabbed both my arms, dragging me out with him. “Let go of me,” “You are too wild for a prince,” he said, tightening his grip. Aziel rushed past us toward the packed limo. I turned to Luciano’s side, biting down hard on his shoulder. He released me, and I rushed in the opposite direction. “Get back here,” he called, but I didn’t stop. Heavy footsteps followed close behind me, and I knew there was no escape. Suddenly, gunshots rang out from the direction I was headed, making me halt. “Get down,” Aziel barked from right behind me. Before my brain could process his words, something hard slammed into my side, and I flew across the ground. I buried my face in the dirt as chaos erupted, people shouting, until there was nothing left but silence and my heavy breathing against the soil. “Get the fuck up." I lifted myself slowly and stared at the bodies lying on the ground, bleeding. That’s when it hit me. Blood. Pain shot up my arm. I gritted my teeth and forced myself to move. I looked down at my shirt, and it was soaked red, blood oozing from the upper part of my arm. I clutched it tightly just as Aziel grabbed the same injured arm, pulling me toward the car as I groaned. He shoved me into the seat, and the car locked in one sharp click. I tried to push the door open, but he held me in place. “Try pulling another stupid stunt if you have a death wish, and I’ll be sure to grant it,” he growled, his eyes red as they met mine. “Stop telling me what to do,” I voiced biting down on my lip as the pain intensified. He tore a strip from his tattered shirt and pulled me an inch closer. “You are in my territory, and you will fucking take my orders,” he growled, tightening the cloth around my arm.Aziel’s POVThe city lights blurred past the windshield, bleeding into streaks of gold and white across the glass as Luka drove without a word. I leaned back in the leather seat, letting the low hum of the engine and the steady motion of the car settle into my bones, fatigue dragging heavier with each passing second. One more meeting and I would have passed out in my seat, but I hadn’t expected anything less.“Don, we’re here,” Luka announced.I unbuckled my seatbelt, stepping out of the car and stretching, a dull pull running down my spine as my muscles resisted the movement.“Anything else you’d like, Don?” Luka asked, his hands slipping into his pockets. The lines on his face were sharper than usual, exhaustion from yesterday still etched into them.“Get some rest. We have an early morning tomorrow.”“Yes, Don.” He nodded, glancing at me once before walking off.I followed right behind him, slower, each step carrying more weight than it should have.A distant noise from the hallway
Zarek’s POVThe phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Every buzz made my chest tighten, my gaze snapping to the door again and again, as if it might swing open by itself. My hands trembled slightly as I reached for the phone, my eyes locking onto the screen.Dad.I let it ring one more time before answering.“Hello.”Silence.It stretched for a second too long, heavy and deliberate, pressing against my chest before he finally spoke.“Is this how you intend to behave as future king?”“I’m sorry. I was in the shower.”“At this hour?” His tone remained calm, but the edge beneath it cut deeper than shouting ever could. “Is that what I sent you there to do?”I stayed quiet, the weight of his voice pressing hard against my ear, forcing my shoulders to stiffen. Any excuse I made would only make it worse.“Let this be the last time I warn you, Zarek. I did not align myself with criminals for you to mistake it for freedom and start acting out.”I rolled my eyes, a breath of disbelief catching in my thr
Zarek's POVTHREE DAYS LATER.“There you go again, frowning,” Elise scolded, lightly hitting me on the shoulder. “Is the coffee that bad?”“No, it’s not that,” I dismissed, placing the mug down.We were in the kitchen at the penthouse. Apparently, Aziel had ordered my things to be brought back here, which I didn’t oppose. But having a guard following me around like I couldn’t be trusted on my own for the last three days had me edgy.“Now we are back to zoning out,” Elise snapped.“Fine, I’m sorry,” I said, forcing a gentle smile. “What were you saying?”She studied me for a beat. “Did something happen when I was on break? You look… off.”I sighed sharply, my hand going up instinctively to my chin. Off was one way to put it. Unsteady felt closer. My mind replayed the last moments with Aziel, his hands, his voice, the way he had pulled me under him like resistance was never part of the equation. Every attempt I’d made to hold my ground crumbled before I could register it.“No need to wo
Aziel's POVThe moment his breathing evened out, I knew I should move, put distance between us and regain some level of control.I didn’t.For a few seconds longer, I just sat there, his weight resting against me, steady and unguarded in a way I hadn’t earned. My hand hovered near his shoulder before I let it drop, fingers grazing his arm. My jaw tightened at my own hesitation.Dangerous.My phone buzzed sharply on the nightstand, Luciano’s name flashing. He had been calling repeatedly, each ring carrying impatience.I exhaled slowly, easing Zarek’s head off my shoulder with care, making sure he didn’t stir. He shifted slightly but didn’t wake, and something in my chest loosened at that. I straightened, casting him one last glance, memorizing the curve of his features, before grabbing my jacket and heading toward the penthouse door.By the time I reached the landing, Luciano was waiting just outside, phone tucked in his hand, eyes narrowing as he tried to peer inside.I stepped forwar
Aziel's POV "Stay still." I carefully carried Zarek in my arms, lifting him from the floor. "I can walk on my own," he whined, knowing well that I didn’t take orders from anyone. I walked out of the gym, heading straight to the penthouse. He didn’t say another word. I clicked the door open and placed him on the couch. Looking back at his pale frame, I lowered my head and cursed inwardly. Maybe I’d pushed him too hard, and he was still fragile. Who could blame me? He’d started telling me things I didn’t expect, and that already worked in my favour. A little more push, have his walls crumble till there was nowhere else to hide. "You're staring," he croaked, shifting his weight to the other side of the couch. Staring. Why wouldn’t I? Those legs, barely covered by shorts, didn’t do him justice. Hard-on in a freaking gym. First time. "I can't help it," I whispered, lowering myself to meet his gaze. "The view looks breathtaking." His muscles tensed as he shifted, and I couldn’t st
Zarek's POV"No, he can't."He doesn't know anything about me. No one does, not even Zakar. But his words felt too real.I gripped my hair tightly, thoughts colliding too fast to catch, too loud to ignore.I hadn't had time to think straight. One thing kept happening after another. No rest. No breathing. I felt cornered inside my own head.I wanted to yell at someone, scream at someone, but within the confines of this room, no one was within my reach.Confusion, frustration, guilt, and everything else clung to me like a second skin I couldn’t peel off. What if he was right? Maybe I didn't know myself.Maybe I just loved guys too.No. I was going to be a future king and get married. My father wouldn't allow it, and neither would the council.Everything about my life was already laid out, and I had no say in any of it.Did I want something for myself? Maybe not. I failed at most things anyway. No friends. Nothing.I flipped the closet door open, rummaging through my clothes until I foun
Aziel's POV"You said ten minutes, then you show up after four hours. What the fuck is wrong with you?"Zarek was fuming, his arms crossed and had no intentions of getting into the car.The first car had already left with Nikolai and Tyron down to the club we were headed to.I stepped closer, his e
Zarek's POVMy eyes fluttered open and I stretched my limbs, kicking the blanket down.It was not a dream.I was in my bedroom, and I couldn't remember how I even got there. The worst part was that I was wearing one of my casual shirts, the same boxer briefs stained down to my legs. My gut twisted
Zarek's POV Dinner should have been great, considering the fact that I was dining with the Godfather, a man of few words, calm and composed, unlike his jerky son. Aziel was sitting directly facing me at the dining table, his piercing gaze not leaving me for one bit. His ex glaring harder. Tyro
Aziel's Pov I stepped into the compound, gun at my hip, eyes scanning every corner like the place belonged to me.... because it did. The clock read ten a.m., and everything had to be perfect. Nothing could wait, not a single misstep. "Elise, get me coffee," "Right away, Don." I jogged up the
