Chapter Seventy-Seven

Irene’s POV

Devon stood on the dais at dawn, voice cutting through the assembled pack like a blade. “Tomorrow we purge every rat connected to the old regime. Traitors’ blood ends here.”

Names flashed on the massive screen behind him. Zane’s face appeared near the top.

My stomach dropped. I grabbed Brielle’s arm and dragged her through the crowd before anyone could blink. “Hide Zane in the storage tunnels. Now. Move.”

We found Zane pacing in the lower sheds. “They’re comi

Chapter Eighty-One Devon’s POVThe curse shattered at dawn.I woke screaming, claws buried in my own chest, ripping through skin and muscle. Every memory slammed into me at once— unfiltered. The blood. The executions. The children’s faces. Irene’s neck under my hand. Zane’s branding. My father’s voice echoing in the back of my head telling me power was everything. I saw it all.“No—no—fuck!” I roared, staggering out of bed. Blood ran down my torso. I grabbed the dagger from the nightstand and pressed it to my throat. “I deserve this. I deserve every fucking second of it.”The door burst open. Irene rushed in first, eyes wide. “Devon, stop!”Zane and Brielle were right behind her. Zane still wore the fresh Omega brand on his chest, face swollen, but he moved like the Beta he used to be. They grabbed my arms.“Drop the blade!” Zane shouted, wrestling my wrist.I headbutted him, breaking his nose with a crunch. “Let me end it! I slaughtered your people! I broke her!” I twisted, slammin

Chapter Eighty Irene’s POVThe square was still stained with yesterday’s blood when Devon dragged Zane out in chains. I froze on the platform beside him, heart slamming against my ribs. Zane looked half-dead already, face bruised, shoulder bleeding, but his eyes met mine with defiance.Devon stood tall in his black coat, dark hair catching the wind, broad shoulders squared like the king he forced everyone to fear. Cool. Controlled. Fucking beautiful in the worst way possible.“Zane,” Devon said, voice low and smooth as he circled his former Beta. “You helped my wife hide traitors. You pushed that witch’s ritual through her like a coward. Look at me when I speak.”Zane lifted his chin. “She’s trying to save you, you blind bastard. The man I followed wouldn’t need a curse to feel anything.”Devon’s claws slid out. “Wrong answer.” He grabbed Zane by the throat and slammed him to his knees in front of the entire pack. “I should rip your spine out right here. Make Irene watch every secon

Chapter Seventy-Nine Irene’s POVThe purge started at noon. Devon dragged the first batch of prisoners into the square himself, his broad shoulders cutting through the crowd like a blade. Black coat flapping, dark hair pushed back, icy grey eyes scanning everyone with that cool, deadly confidence that still made my stomach flip even as I hated him.“Line them up,” he ordered. Guards shoved ten wolves to their knees. I stood at his right side on the platform, jaw tight.A man shouted from the line, “Your father would be ashamed, Irene!”Devon moved fast. He grabbed the man by the throat and lifted him off the ground. “Say his name again and I’ll make your death last hours.”The man gasped, “Theo Harvey was twice the Alpha you—”Devon snapped his neck with one twist. The body dropped. The crowd gasped.I stepped closer while the others looked away in horror and whispered fast, “That man had a daughter your age. She’s watching. Killing him makes you look weak, not strong.”Devon’s hand

Chapter Seventy-Eight Irene’s POVThe next morning, Zane’s voice cracked through the hidden tunnel speaker. “They’re closing in. Two guards at the east exit. I’m trapped.”“Stay down,” I hissed, pressing the button. “I’m coming.”I smoothed my dress, fixed a fake smile, and walked straight into the main hall where Devon held court. He looked lethal in his tailored black coat, dark hair swept back, icy grey eyes sharp as he listened to reports. Every line of his tall, muscular frame screamed control and power. Damn him for still making my pulse race.I slid up beside his throne and rested my hand on his shoulder, leaning in like the perfect Luna. “Alpha, you handled the border issue perfectly this morning. The pack feels safer with you in charge.”Devon turned his head, one brow lifting. His hand covered mine, squeezing hard enough to warn. “Playing devoted wife today, Irene? That’s new.”I kissed his cheek, letting my lips linger. “Maybe I’m tired of fighting in public. Let’s show t

I’ll handle the ritual blood tonight on Devon.”Zane caught my wrist. “Irene, if he catches you—”“He won’t.” I shoved him toward the dark passage. “Go.”Brielle hugged him hard, then we sealed the stone and scattered. My hands wouldn’t stop shaking as I slipped the next ritual vial into my sleeve. That

Chapter Seventy-Six Irene’s POVZane shoved the small vial into my hand at dawn. “Blood rite from the rival witch. Cut him during a weak moment. It’ll drag fragments of the real Devon back up. Make it count.”I hid it in my sleeve and walked into the hall like I still had a spine.Devon sat on the raised dais, looking every inch the bastard king—dark hair pushed back, broad shoulders filling his black coat, icy eyes scanning the room like he owned every soul in it. Cool. Deadly. Attractive in the way that made me want to kill him and ride him in the same breath.Pack children lined the walls, wide-eyed. Two “traitors” knelt in the center, already bleeding.“Watch closely,” Devon said, voice smooth and low. “Weakness gets you this.” He snapped a neck. The crack echoed. Kids flinched.I stepped forward before I could stop myself. “They’re children, Devon. You’re not building strength. You’re breeding nightmares.”The hall went dead silent. He rose slowly, eyes locking on mine. “Defy m
