Aria

“I’m sorry," Jace whispered, his voice cracking. “I shouldn’t have doubted you. I should have trusted you more.”

He held my hand, and I felt something wet drop onto my skin. Tears. Jace was crying, actually crying.

Perfect.

The sound of his voice told me everything I needed to know. He felt guilty. He thought everything was his fault. He thought he was the one who had pushed me into this coma. He believed he had broken me.

I wanted to open my eyes right then and there. I wanted to smile that sweet smile he loved so much. I wanted to see the relief flood his face.

But I didn’t.

Because watching him suffer like this was so much better. This was exactly what I wanted. Make him feel guilty. Make him think he destroyed me. Make him believe every lie I fed him.

“Aria, please wake up,” he begged, his voice breaking completely. “Please. I can’t lose you.”

What a fool.

I wasn’t in a coma. I was perfectly fine. Healthy enough to pull that trigger on Celeste again if I had the chance. Healt

Jace“Please,” Celeste breathed, reaching for me one more time.“Celeste,” I murmured as her hands roamed all over me. “You asked for this.”In a flash, our lips met, hunger igniting between us. My hand slid around her neck as I deepened the kiss—fast, rough, and intoxicatingly sweet.“Mmm,” she moaned, but the sound was swallowed by me.My hand trailed down her body, gripping her firmly, rough and possessive. So soft, I thought, my breath catching. When we finally broke the kiss, I met her gaze, her eyes dark with lust and wild desire. I’d never seen her like this, not even the first time we fucked.“I want more,” she whispered, her body trembling. “Please fuck me hard.”Her voice carried a raw, desperate need that caught me off guard. I never imagined her being this bold and fearless. It had to be the drug, I told myself.“Do you know who I am?” I asked quietly, unable to stop myself. She nodded her head. “Yes, Jace.”I was stunned. She knew who she was with. Despite the drug’s effe

JaceThe words hung in the air.“I understand,” I muttered. The doctor nodded and walked away, leaving Elewon and me alone again.“What are you waiting for?” Elewon shouted at me. “Go save her!”“What?” I looked at her, confused.“You heard the doctor. Are you just going to stand here? Do you want her to die?”“Of course not.” I ran my fingers through my hair. My mind was racing. This couldn’t be happening. “But I can’t—”“Can’t what?” She stepped closer, her eyes blazing. “You’ve already slept with her once. Why are you acting like this is some impossible thing?”Her words hit me like a punch to the gut.“It’s not that simple,” I said.“Yes, it is!” She was practically screaming now. “Do you think I want this? Do you think I want you anywhere near my best friend? You’re a jerk, Jace. But right now, you’re the only option we have.”I stared at her for a few seconds, and it dawned on me that she was the one corrupting Celeste.Elewon was the problem. She was the one filling Celeste’s h

JaceI stared at the phone screen, my hands shaking. The video kept replaying in my mind even after I closed it.It was Aria. My Aria. Sleeping with another man.My chest felt tight, like someone was squeezing my heart with both hands. How could she do this to me? She said she loved me. She looked into my eyes every day and promised she was mine. Only mine. But she lied.I shouted, “How could you do this to me?” My vision blurred, unsure if it was from anger or tears, maybe both.“They are lying!” Aria screamed back. Her voice was high and desperate. “Don’t believe them, honey. Please. Celeste and her friend hate me. They want to destroy us. Can’t you see? They made this video to break us apart.”Her words sounded rehearsed and fake. I could hear the lie in every syllable. Before I could say anything else, Elewon grabbed my arm. “Enough of all this. We need to find Celeste. She’s in danger.”I turned to look at her. “In danger? And what about what I just saw? That’s not important?”My

ElewonJace stared at me for a long moment. I could see him weighing his options.“Fine,” he finally said. “I’ll save her. Wait here.”“Hurry!” I called after him as he walked back into the house. As soon as Jace left, Aria attacked me. She rushed at me, her face twisted with anger.“You crazy bitch!” she screamed, trying to scratch my face. “I’ll kill you!”“Kill me?” I grabbed her hair before she could hurt me. I pushed her down hard. She fell on the ground. “I’m not Celeste. I’m not someone you can mess with.”I stood over her, breathing hard. “Try that again and see what happens.”Jace came out a few minutes later, dressed in different clothes. He was on his phone, talking to someone in a serious voice.“Let’s go,” he said to me.I quickly paid the taxi driver I had kept waiting. “Thank you for waiting. You can go now.”I got into Jace’s car. My hands were still shaking, but now it was from hope mixed with fear.“Honey!” Aria ran to the car, banging on the window. “That bitch atta

Elewon“It’s okay, Aria,” Jace said, pulling away from her. He walked closer to me. “You said Celeste is missing? How do you know?”“She never came home,” I explained, my words rushing out. “She’s always home before me. I went to her workplace, but it was closed. I called her a hundred times, but her phone is off. She would never do this. Never. Something bad happened, I know it.”Jace looked at me for a moment. “Maybe she went to a club or something. Just wait until tomorrow morning.”He started to turn away, and my heart stopped.“No!” I exclaimed, gripping his arm tightly. “You don’t get it! Celeste doesn’t have any other friends besides me. She doesn’t go to clubs or stay out late without letting me know. I can sense it, she’s in trouble! Something awful is happening to her at this very moment!”My words made him stop. He stood there, not moving.“Even if she is missing,” he said quietly, not looking at me, “what does that have to do with me?”I couldn’t believe what I was hearing

ElewonMy hands shook as I dialed Celeste’s number for the tenth time. Still nothing. The phone just kept saying her number was unreachable.Something was very wrong. Celeste always called. If she was going to be late, she would text me. That was just who she was. She cared too much about people worrying.I walked around the house, my heart beating faster with each passing minute. The clock on the wall seemed to laugh at me. Seven o’clock. Eight o’clock. Still no Celeste.I couldn’t take it anymore. I grabbed my bag and ran outside, my chest tight with fear.“Taxi!” I called out, waving my hand at a passing cab.The driver looked at me strangely. I must have looked like a crazy person. My hair was messy, my eyes red from holding back tears.“Please take me to Fashion Street,” I told him. “Hurry, please.”The drive felt like forever. My leg wouldn’t stop shaking. I kept checking my phone, hoping to see her name pop up on the screen, but nothing. As we arrived, my stomach sank. The stor
