Chapter 5 Who was she?

Myra’s P.O.V.

We pressed the lift button, eagerly waiting for it to arrive and take us down.

Boy, oh boy, we had been walking in these heels all morning, and the idea of trekking down 15 floors was definitely not appealing. It was a difficult task; I tell you!

My poor feet were screaming in agony, and all I wanted was to reach the ground floor, retreat to my room, and slip into some cosy clothes. Ahh, the mere thought of that comfort made me close my eyes and let out a moan of relief.

These heels were seriously killing me!

As the lift doors opened, I sighed. I had expected an empty lift, but to my surprise, five women stepped out. They were dressed up like, umm... I know I shouldn't judge someone by their outfits, but their outfits are slightly way too on the revealing side. I mean, just a strap is holding their dress and there's nothing hidden? Okay. I should stop it.

But something I didn’t understand. How did they even get here?

The top two floors were only accessible with a passcode, and only ten of our selected staff members knew it, including our manager.

So, how did they come in?

My mind raced with questions until I noticed our manager stepping out of the lift with them.

His back was turned, so I hadn't noticed him earlier.

He glanced at us and simply said, "Done with work?" Roshini and I both nodded in response. He nodded back and walked away with the women, leaving us with even more questions.

"What was that?" I murmured as soon as we got inside the lift.

"A gift," Roshini replied, pressing the button for the ground floor.

"Huh?" I asked, confused.

"They are the gifts for our boss to our boss." She let out a chuckle.

"What kind of gift is this?" I asked, my face contorted into a disgusted expression.

"It's called an adult gift, baby. You won't get it. Guys need it at night... or maybe even during the day." She burst into laughter as my eyes widened.

I cringed at her words and exclaimed, "Yuck!" The thought of such things made me feel uncomfortable.

"I was feeling so respectful towards him. I was all excited to meet our owner, but after hearing and seeing all this, I'm feeling so disgusted." I said, and she chuckled.

She suggested, "That's why I was telling you to read those kinds of stuff. Trust me, if you had, you would either romanticise everything or find it extremely exhilarating."

"There's nothing to romanticise."

"There is babe. There is."

I ignored her, rolling my eyes.

"Gosh.. God, please don't lemme meet him much. Please." I prayed, joining my hands, looking up, and Roshini laughed.

"Well, who knows? Maybe you'll end up spending a lot of time with him, as you might end up being his favourite," she teased, raising her brows.

"I would seriously consider running away from there. I don't want to be his favourite." I said because the thought of being in such a situation was unbearable.

"And what would you do if he wanted you to work closely with him? I've heard that bad boys always fall for good girls, way too hard." She teased, hitting me with her shoulder playfully, making me irked.

"Stop it, Roshini. I would puke my guts out if I had to get close to somebody like him." I said, making faces. "Huh! Bad boys and all argh... I have no interest in getting involved with someone like him."

She laughed at my words.

What's she finding so amusing? Huh!

Zayn’s P.O.V.

"I heard that sunrise brings hope and light that can fight over the darkness, but I suppose it's not true. If it were true, then why, after so many years, am I still where I was earlier, alone? Why? Why is nothing going well? Why did no new day come different?" I murmured under my breath as I looked at the sun slowly rising.

It was 5 a.m., and two hours ago, I reached my hotel in Mumbai. Instead of sleeping there, I lay in the garden at the backside of the hotel.

"Well, maybe you aren't allowing the light to enter your shell," a sweet voice startled me. I hadn't realized someone was there.

I was about to shout at the person, but suddenly I felt some unknown presence beside me. Instead of getting angry, I felt bewildered in a different and peaceful way.

I looked beside me, and a girl was sitting in a white Anarkali suit, facing away. Although it was still dark, I could clearly see her long hair, which I could bet reached below her hips. My eyes remained fixed on her figure, which gave me some unknown sensation.

I could see she was wearing bangles in her hands, and whenever she tucked some strands of her hair behind her ear, her bangles made magical sounds. I could not clearly see her face, but I noticed a star tattoo behind her ear, which made her more ethereal.

I wanted to hear more from her, and when she didn't speak further, I realised she was waiting for me to say anything, so I asked her the question that I really wanted to know.

"What do you mean?" I asked, curious, still finding myself getting lost in her.

"I mean, how can you expect things to change the way you want when you are still doing and being the same way you were years back? If you want things to change, then first change yourself. Take a step towards the light and it will find its way to you. If you want a day to become different from the last one, then you also have to leave the burden of the previous day behind." I was speechless hearing her words.

Without questioning unnecessary things, she simply gave me answers that calmed my heart differently.

"It is easy to advise others because you are not in their place, so you cannot feel their pain." I didn't know why, but I said those words.

Whatever the thing is, I couldn't let anyone control my emotions. I couldn't ignore the fact that I was Zayn Hunter, and I was the Russian Mafia, the king. I didn't take advice.

But soon a frown appeared on my forehead, hearing her chuckle. A painful chuckle, I must add.

"Maybe I'm not in your place, but where I am right now, I'm pretty sure I'm the most righteous person to give advice." Her words baffled me.

I didn't understand what I should reply, but I could clearly see through her words. It's pain, it's immense pain.

"Who are you?" I asked in a daze.

"It's a new day. Try to let the light enter your life. Maybe things might not change quickly, but definitely, you will be a little more at peace from the beginning." Answering that, she stood up. I closed my eyes, hearing the jingling sound of her anklet, which gave me immense peace.

I slowly opened my eyes when I saw the sound disappearing. I looked at the back and saw her going towards the staff quarter.

I was right; her hair was below her hips, longer than I thought, to be honest.

A small smile appeared on my lips seeing her.

Angel!

She looks like an angel.

I kept staring in her direction, but she never stopped or turned. She kept going, and I kept admiring her.

She looked ethereal, beautiful, and magical.

In her white Anarkali Suit, the jingling of her anklets, the clinking of her bangles, her long, shiny hair, and the way her elegantly draped scarf floated in the air as she hurried towards her destination made her resemble a fairy. The sunlight only accentuated her beauty, and let's not overlook her star tattoo!

Damn! Who was she?

I stood up, still staring in the direction she left, but a frown appeared on my forehead, and my smile disappeared as soon as I realised what had happened.

What the hell was I doing? How could I get lost like this? How could I give anyone the right to give me any advice? Why did I let a stranger have a conversation with me?

Agh! I badly needed a shower to get into the right state of mind. I murmured under my breath and took a step, but stopped abruptly as I felt something under my feet.

I took a step back, and after leaning down, I picked up the shiny tiny bell of her anklet. It might have fallen.

I looked at the bell, and I literally didn't know what had gotten into me as I placed it inside my pocket.

Staring in the direction where she left, I also left from there.

One thing became clear: she lived inside the staff quarter, which meant she worked there.

But I didn't understand why I was even thinking about her.

She seemed no good to me!
