Darius’s POV

The slap came so fast I barely registered Jack’s movement. His hand connected with Magnus’s face with a crack that echoed through the burnt room.

Magnus chuckled, his tongue darting out to lick blood from the corner of his mouth. “Nice blow.”

“I’m going to rip off your mouth,” Jack snarled, leaning close to Magnus’s face. “Cut off your head just like you did to Sable.”

“Don’t waste time talking about it.” Magnus’s smile didn’t falter despite the blood staining his teeth. “Kill me already.”

Jack’s weathered face twisted with hatred. “Stop wasting your time finding Kiera. I’m going to kill her with my own hands.”

“Jack.” Elder Morrigan’s voice cut through the tension. “Go outside and wait. If I need anything, though I doubt I will, I’ll call you.”

Jack looked at us one last time, that smirk still plastered on his face, then walked out. The door closed behind him with finality.

“What do you want to gain from all this?” I demanded, anger making my voice shake. “You’re a Coun

Kiera’s POV I walked into the council hall with Magnus at my side, and I knew exactly how I looked. Battered. Exhausted. Covered in dirt and blood from escaping the Broker’s domain. My clothes were torn, my hair a tangled mess, bruises darkening across every visible inch of skin.I’d barely made it to Magnus’s territory when word reached him about Darius’s trial. The news had come through his pack network, urgent and terrible. An alpha being stripped of his position. Exile to the human world.I’d had no choice but to trust Magnus’s guards with Eli, leaving my son in their protection while I rushed here. The decision tore at my heart, but what else could I do? Darius was the father of my child, and no matter what stood between us, I couldn’t let him face this alone.Every eye in the hall turned toward me. Whispers exploded across the space like wildfire, the sound building until it felt like being surrounded by bees.I could see maids pressed against windows outside, their faces eager

  • Runaway Luna Rider   062: The Judgment

Darius’s POV The pack territory felt different when I rode through the gates. Colder somehow, despite the afternoon sun. Like the land itself knew what was coming.Thomas ran toward me before I’d even dismounted, his face pale with worry. Blood covered his hands, though whether it was his or someone else’s, I couldn’t tell.“Alpha, are you okay?” His words tumbled out in a rush. “We didn’t know what Elder Morrigan did to us. We just lost consciousness and we couldn’t wake up.”“I’m fine.” The lie came automatically, though my body told a different story. Every muscle ached from the fight with Lucien, from the poison that had weakened me, from days of chaos that felt like years.“The Council of Elders has been in a rage.” Thomas kept pace as I walked toward the main hall. “They’ve been asking for you constantly. Demanding to know where you were.”I stopped, looking at my beta. My friend. “I’m ready for them.”The council hall’s doors stood open, an invitation that felt more like a sum

  • Runaway Luna Rider   061: The Escape Through Blood

Kiera’s POV My eyes opened slowly, consciousness dragging me up from darkness that felt safer than waking. Every part of my body ached, bruises layering on bruises, exhaustion settling into my bones like permanent weight. Then I saw it.A head. Positioned directly in my line of sight, impossible to miss. The woman who’d helped me, who’d given me the map and whispered hope when I had none. Her eyes were open, empty, staring at nothing. Blood matted her gray hair, dried in dark streaks down what remained of her neck. An arrow pierced through her skull, the shaft standing straight up like some grotesque monument. They’d placed her there deliberately, made sure she’d be the first thing I saw.The message was clear. Crystal clear. This is what happens to people who betray the Broker.A gasp tore from my throat before I could stop it. Shock crashed over me, followed immediately by horror so complete it made my stomach turn. I wanted to look away but couldn’t, frozen by the sight of kindnes

  • Runaway Luna Rider   059: The Poison and the Betrayal

Darius’s POVPain exploded through my skull like someone was driving nails into my brain. I tried to open my eyes, but my eyelids felt heavy, weighted down by something I couldn’t name.Water crashed over me like a wave, cold and shocking. It flooded my nose, filled my mouth, soaked through my clothes. The impact forced my eyes open, blinking against the sting.A blurry figure stood in front of me, holding an empty bucket. The person turned and walked away, their footsteps echoing in whatever space we were in.I tried to move, to stand up and chase them down, but my body wouldn’t cooperate. Something massive pressed against my chest, my arms, my legs. Not just heavy, but restraining. Binding. My vision slowly cleared, details emerging from the blur. The room was small and filthy, walls blackened with soot and smoke damage. Burn marks scarred the concrete floor in uneven patterns, like someone had set multiple fires here over time. The ceiling sagged in places, water stains mixing with

Darius’s POV I couldn’t stop moving. My feet carried me back and forth across the bar’s worn floor, my wolf clawing at my insides, demanding release. The image of Kiera wrapped in that blood-soaked bag burned behind my eyes every time I blinked. How dare they. How dare anyone touch her, hurt her, treat her like she was nothing. My fists were so tight my nails cut into my palms. The pain meant nothing compared to the rage consuming me from the inside out.“You’re making things worse by pacing up and down.”Magnus’s voice cut through my spiral, calm and infuriating in its composure.I spun on him, all that fury finding a target. “You never really cared about Kiera. You just wanted her to hurt my ego. That’s why you don’t care what happens to her.”Magnus stood up, his expression hardening. “We’re the same kind of person, Darius. Both selfish. Both destructive. So don’t lecture me about caring. Think logically instead.”The words hit harder than I wanted to admit because he wasn’t entir
