Kiera’s POV

I stood frozen as Zeus entered the room, my body refusing to move even though every instinct screamed at me to run. He stopped just inside the doorway, his presence filling the space in ways that had nothing to do with physical size.

His eyes locked onto mine, and I felt like he was seeing straight through me. Past the lie I was about to tell. Past the pretense of being lost. All the way down to the truth I needed to keep hidden.

The silence stretched between us, heavy and suffocating. My wolf tumbled inside me, restless and afraid in ways she rarely was. She wanted me to shift, to fight, to do anything except stand here under this man’s scrutiny.

“Who are you?” I forced the words out, trying to sound confused rather than terrified.

Zeus didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he moved closer, each step deliberate and measured. I wanted to back away, to put distance between us, but I made myself stay still. Showing fear would only make things worse.

He stopped close enough th

Sarah’s POV I stood just outside the door, my heart racing so fast I thought it might burst through my chest. I’d changed into soft new nightwear, something I hadn’t worn in a long time. The fabric felt foreign against my skin, too delicate for what I was about to do.My hands shook slightly as I lifted them to knock. Before I could, the door opened.Thomas stepped out first. His eyes flicked to me, surprise clear on his face. Behind him, I saw Darius standing near the bed. Eli was asleep, curled beneath the covers like the child he was.Thomas gave a short nod and stepped aside without saying anything. I entered the room, my footsteps silent on the floor. Thomas walked away, closing the door quietly behind him.The sound of it clicking shut felt final somehow.Darius frowned slightly when he saw me. “This is not a good time,” he said in a low voice. “Eli is sleeping.”“I know,” I replied softly, keeping my voice gentle. “I won’t stay long.”Darius glanced at the bed again, protectiv

  • Runaway Luna Rider   085: The Impossible

Darius’s POV After hearing Eli say that the scarred person might be his uncle, Thomas and I shared a tense stare across the room. The weight of that single word hung between us like a threat we couldn’t quite name.Uncle.We both moved at the same time, carefully lifting Eli from the bed. He mumbled sleepily but didn’t wake as we carried him to my own chamber. The walk there felt longer than it should have, each step measured and quiet.Thomas tucked him in while I stood by the window, my mind already racing through possibilities I didn’t want to consider. The bedsheet rustled softly as Thomas made sure Eli was comfortable and secure. When he was satisfied that the boy was settled, Thomas followed me into the adjoining office. I sat behind my desk, the familiar weight of the chair doing nothing to ground me.I thought deeply about who it might be. The scars were an indication of identity, something concrete to work with. But I really couldn’t remember anyone with the kind of scars El

  • Runaway Luna Rider   084: The Powder

Sarah’s POV I couldn’t stand it anymore. The way they stared at me. Every single pack member in that hall, their eyes following me with judgment and pity and something worse than either of those things. Contempt. Darius had talked down to me like I was nothing. Like I didn’t matter. Like five years of being his Luna meant absolutely nothing compared to her. I stomped away from the party hall, anger and shame burning through me in equal measure. Tears fell from my face before I could stop them, hot and humiliating. He hadn’t even given me face. Hadn’t shown me even the smallest bit of respect in front of our pack. My feet carried me toward my chambers, each step echoing my fury and hurt. “Luna, wait!” Laura’s voice came from behind me, but I didn’t slow down. I reached my door and shoved it open, ready to slam it shut and lock out the entire world. Laura slipped inside just before I could close it. The door slammed anyway, the sound satisfying in its violence. “Get out,” I sai

  • Runaway Luna Rider   083: A Father’s Fear

Darius’s POV I ran through the corridors, panic overriding every bit of alpha control I’d ever learned. My wolf was frantic inside me, searching and sensing for any sign of danger, any hint that something was wrong.Guards stiffened as I passed, their backs pressing against the walls. No one dared stop me. No one even tried to ask what was happening. My mind spiraled through worst case scenarios. Eli hurt, or taken again. Eli bleeding somewhere while I’d been wasting time at a stupid party, dealing with pack politics and celebrations that meant nothing.I reached Eli’s door and my hand hesitated before opening it.Fear coiled tight in my chest, squeezing until I couldn’t breathe properly. What if I opened this door and found an empty bed? What if whoever sent those bloody clothes had already taken him?I forced myself to breathe once. Just once. Then I pushed the door open.Eli was asleep in bed. Peaceful and completely unharmed. The soft breathing of a little boy sleeping filled the

  • Runaway Luna Rider   082: Blood and Celebration

Darius’s POV I arrived at the pack with Thomas after being gone for a week. We’d been investigating, trying to find out how Kiera was doing and if she was okay. The entire trip had been fruitless, filled with dead ends and people who either didn’t know anything or wouldn’t talk. What caught my attention immediately was the music playing. Loud, pulsing through the compound like this was some kind of festival.I turned to Thomas. “Is something going on in the pack?”He gave me a look that said I was asking stupid questions. “How would I know? We just arrived.”We walked through the gates and headed inside. A pack member spotted us and rushed over, bowing his head in greeting.“Why is there music playing?” I asked before he could say anything else.“Blackhowl won a biker race,” he explained, pride evident in his voice. “The council decided to host a party to celebrate.”Anger flushed through me like acid burning through my veins. The pack members were celebrating. Drinking and dancing a

  • Runaway Luna Rider   081: The Performance

Kiera’s POV The field went unnaturally quiet after Zeus ripped out the man’s heart.I couldn’t move, speak, or do anything but stand there as the blood scent overwhelmed every sense I had. It was thick and metallic, coating the back of my throat until I wanted to gag. My hands were shaking at my sides, and I clenched them into fists to make it stop.My wolf was frantic inside me. She was snarling, recoiling, screaming that this place was wrong. That we needed to run, and staying here would destroy us.But I couldn’t run. I was trapped on this platform, frozen in place by the horror of what I’d just witnessed.Zeus turned to look at me deliberately. He knew exactly what he’d done. Knew exactly how I’d react. This wasn’t an accident or a momentary loss of control. This was calculated. He didn’t wipe the blood off immediately. It dripped from his clawed hand, dark and viscous in the harsh light from the motorcycles. He watched me while the silence stretched, testing me.“What did you t
