Mikaela

It had been three weeks since Ryan left for Silvermoon… or was it Monsoon by now?

I wasn’t keeping count, not really. At least, that’s what I told myself every time my mind drifted toward his name.

It was stupid thinking about where he was, if he’d gotten there safely, if he was eating, sleeping, arguing with someone already. None of it should matter to me. But for some reason, it did. And I hated that it did.

To keep my head clear at all times, I threw myself into work.

I spent my mornings in the infirmary, in the afternoons helping with the kids in the training yard, anything to keep moving. Anything to keep my mind from wandering where it shouldn’t.

Scarlet pack house looked peaceful enough on the surface, but something was off. The patrols were tighter. The guards on the watchtowers looked tense, like they were expecting something.

I overheard whispers the other day about rogue ightings near the border, tracks too close for comfort.

It didn’t take a genius to know danger

MikaelaThe day just went on a bit slower than usual, every minute turning into an hour. I tried to keep busy, but my mind never left the thought of Declan and the other children who had gone scouting that morning. He had been so excited when he left and said he’d find me a wildflower. He said that because it reminded him if the the ones I used to keep in our old garden back at Monsoon pack house. After the infirmary and checking on a few things, I went to stay with Lisa. She was sprawled across the couch, coloring, while Samuel read some reports beside her. I tried to look calm, even smiled when she asked about her brother.“Declan promised to bring us all a flower, remember?” I said softly, brushing her hair back. “He’ll be back before dinner. You’ll see.”She nodded, but something in her eyes told me she wasn’t convinced. Maybe she caught on to my unease or maybe I was just terrible at pretending everything was fine. The night came faster than I expected, the sun was dipping behin

Ryan’s POVI stared at Tobias, waiting for him to crack a smile or to tell me that he was simply joking. But he didn’t. He was being dead serious.“Wait,” I said, almost laughing in disbelief, “you’re not serious, right?”Tobias just raised an eyebrow. “About what?”“About sending Jenna,” I said, my tone sharper than I meant it to be. “June, fine, I can understand wjy you would want her there. She’s Mikaela’s friend, she’ll make her feel grounded. But Jenna?” I shook my head, trying not to sound like I was questioning him, but it came out rough anyway. “Even you know she hates Mikaela. This is a bad idea.”Tobias sighed and he sat back in his chair like he had been expecting me to react that way. “Ryan, things have changed.”“Changed?” I repeated, not buying a single word of it.He nodded slowly. “Jenna has seen her flaws. She’s realized the mistakes she made, and she wants to make things right. She came to me herself with this idea. She insisted, actually.”I blinked at him, stunned

RyanMalcolm had enraged me. My fists were clenched so tight my knuckles started cracked. My breathing became hard and uneven, like every muscle in my body was begging to snap. I could still feel my eyes burning faint red, my wolf pressing against my skin, but I forced it back down.I couldn't lose it, not now.Losing my temper on Malcolm wasn’t worth it. He wanted this, he thrived on seeing people lose control. Chaos was his favorite game, and I wasn’t going to play it.I took a long rough breath through my nose and exhaled slowly. My pulse was still throbbing, but I managed to steady it.He was watching me, that smug grin still hanging on his face like he thought he’d won something.“Done?” he asked, now swirling a glass of drink like nothing had just happened.I stared at him him dead in the eye befire answering. You’re not worth it,” I said quietly, and started walking toward the door.He laughed under his breath in a low and mocking manner. "That’s what I thought.”I stopped hal

RyanGoddamned Malcolm. He just couldn’t keep his mouth shut for once, could he?I swear, that man lived for chaos. Sitting there with that smug look like he’d just done something noble, when in truth, he was just trying to start fires and watch me burn in them. I didn't want him telling Tobias anything, how about I just do it myself since he already knows."Enough, Malcolm. I’ll handle this.”Malcolm raised his brows, pretending like he didn’t know what I meant. “I’m only clarifying—”“I said I’ll handle it."The room went quiet. Tobias just watched me, waiting, and I could feel Malcolm’s fake politeness start to slip. He smirked a little, gave Tobias one of those shallow bows, then leaned back in his chair like he owned the place.“Alright then,” he said, almost amused.I turned back to Tobias. “It’s not as bad as he’s making it sound,” I started, even though I already knew that sounded defensive. “There was a misunderstanding, yeah. Between Mikaela, Lydia, and one of the Silverm

RyanFor a split second, I imagined Malcolm’s downfall on the long runI could end him right here if I wanted. All it would take was a few words, tell Tobias what he did, and everything he’s been building would crumble. Silvermoon’s reputation, their chance at the alliance would be gone. The thought felt… satisfying. But then the image shifted to the people of Silvermoon, the pack members who depended on him, their families, the kids.None of them deserved to pay for their Alpha’s stupidity. They would be suffering for something they didn’t even know about.No. I couldn’t do that.Tobias’s voice snapped me back.“So,” he said, eyes darting between us, “anything we need to talk about before the meeting?”I looked at Malcolm, who had that same damn smug expression like he was daring me to open my mouth. But wasn't going to tale the bait“No,” I said finally. “There’s nothing. Not really.”Tobias raised a brow. “Nothing?”“Every pack has their ups and downs, right? Silvermoon’s no differ
