Chapter 007

Rouge’s POV

She’s got a son, and his father is an Alpha. How stupid I am to even think that that child is my son. What we had in the past was nothing but for the contract we signed and agreed with.

I clenched my jaw as I loosened my necktie and threw it on my swivel chair. I have just arrived in my office while Rachel and some of our guards went to the hospital to get her checked.

She wanted me to join her, but I refused to. My mind is going elsewhere, and I’m still stuck with the idea that Cassandra has a child, a son whose father is not me.

“Do you think Alpha Racken is the father of Cassandra’s son, Alpha?” Lester, my beta, asked as he followed me inside my office.

I sat on the couch, closed my eyes, and massaged my neck. I groaned when I felt a little pain there.

“I don’t care about his father’s identity, and I don’t need to know about it. It’s none of my business, and I’ll just waste my time thinking if that damn Racken is his father.” Irritation is visible in my tone as I told Lester that.

A smirk appeared on his face; he crossed his arms in the lower part of his chest and then squinted his eyes at me.

My forehead creased with the way he looks at me.

“What?”

He chuckled.

“Chill, Alpha. I just realized that after all these years, Cassandra has just returned in this time. Right after you announced the pregnancy of Rachel to the whole pack. Maybe she still has a connection with someone who belongs in our pack? Say her mother.”

I get what Lester meant by that. And when she found out about it, she quickly returned here to Pennsylvania. What for? To poison Rachel again, just like what she did back in the past?

Fuck with her.

Folding the sleeves of my sweatshirt, I stood and went to my table. I rummaged through the files in my drawer and took the marriage contract I have with Cassandra.

“Search the exact location where Cassandra and her son are staying at. We’ll go there later in the evening; I need to discuss something important with her. She needs to pay me something,” I gritted my teeth as the memory of her rejecting me as her mate and Alpha replayed in my mind.

She thinks highly of herself.

Lester nodded. “That’s noted, Alpha. I’ll update you once I’ve gotten the information about it,” he said before he left my office, leaving me alone there.

When I saw Cassandra the first time after seven years of not seeing each other, I felt my wolf become much more alive and strong. I know my wolf recognized her as my mate.

But as I observed her, it seemed like there was nothing she felt after seeing me. I couldn’t see the same thing my wolf felt.

‘It’s because she already rejected us, Rouge. The mark you have put in her have already faded away.’

It was my wolf, Kion.

‘It didn’t help that she didn’t see you for seven long years; that’s one of the factors why her wolf didn’t have the same reaction as I had.’

Clenching my fist as I read the whole marriage contract, looking for some holes that I could use to lure Cassandra into paying me for breaching the contract.

I didn’t file our divorce; that’s why, in the eye of the law, I am still her husband and she is my wife. She is my mate, and I am her Alpha. She breached the contract, and I demand payment from her.

The door of my office was opened, and it revealed Lester; his iPad was in his hands.

“You’ve located it already?”

He nodded his head, then showed me their exact location.

“It’s not far from here, just a ten-minute drive away, and we can get there as quickly as we want already.”

I zoomed out the location and squinted my eyes when I found something.

“It’s in the premises of our pack, and that’s her mother’s house. She’s currently residing with her mother instead of that fucking Racken. That’s actually good, though.” I mumbled, observing it thoroughly on Lester’s iPad.

When I’m satisfied, I take my laptop and open it, transferring all the resources from Lester’s iPad to my laptop.

Without taking a glance at him, I ordered him to call Cassandra’s mother to invite her to our house later this evening.

“What’s the use of it, Alpha?”

A smirk formed on my lips. “I’ll need to talk to Cassandra alone, without any hindrance or someone around us.”

“Why, Alpha? What are you going to say to Luna Cassandra? ”

I didn’t answer Lester and just focused on the things I still need to do.

When the evening comes, I go straight to Cassandra’s mother’s house, where she’s currently staying.

‘If she has a relationship with Racken, why is she staying in her mother’s house and not in Racken’s?’ asked by my wolf, Kion.

‘Maybe they really are not together, and they don’t have any romantic relationship at all. It could be a one-night stand that resulted in her getting pregnant, and the rest is history.’

I answered.

I arrived at their house shortly, and I immediately knocked on the door. Esmeralda, Cassandra’s mother, is already in our house, so it’s just Cassandra and her son in here.

I knocked once more when no one answered me. I waited and knocked one more time until it was finally opened by the woman I intended to see tonight, Cassandra.

Her eyes widened when she saw me standing in front of her door. I raised an eyebrow at her.

She’s wearing a red pajama and a white spaghetti strap fitted on her sexy and hot body. Her hair is fixed in a bun, giving me a clearer view of her neck. When my eyes reached her chest, my wolf reacted inside of me when I realized she’s wearing no bra!

Damn it.

I’m still in my office clothes, and I didn’t bother changing it.

“Are you not going to invite me inside?" I asked, a sarcastic smirk on my lips.

I saw her chest heave. “What are you doing in here at this time, Alpha? ”

My jaw clenched because of her formality. When it seemed like she didn’t have any idea of inviting me inside, I pushed the door slightly to be able to enter on my own.

I held her wrist, closed the door, then pushed her on it.

I saw her gulp, and I felt satisfied that she’s still affected by me.

“We need to talk about something important, Cassandra. You owe me something so big, and I demand payment for it. You breached the contract of our marriage, rejected me as your alpha and mate, and left me alone. You have to pay me for it, Cassandra.” I whispered in her ear, letting her know that I’m taking it seriously.
