Bianca

Marco’s name lit up my screen at night. I picked up the phone. “Hello, Cousin.”

“I’m doing your job for you,” he sounded irritated right off the bat.

I blinked. “What?”

“Where are you?” he asked.

“You’re probably home alone, laid up in bed while I do your work for you…” he sounded really pissed.

I sat upright. “What is it, Marco?”

“I said,” he snapped, “I’m doing your job for you. You remember your job? Or have you forgotten that too?”

I stood to my feet. “Of course I remember…”

“Then where are you, Bianca?”

“Home.”

“I set him off, he’s spiraling, and you’re nowhere to be found.”

I stood from my bed, already reaching for my jacket. “What happened to him?”

“I’ll give you a hint: I and Arabella. Find him. Fix it.”

The line went dead.

I stood still for half a second, heart racing. Then I grabbed my keys and slipped out into the night.

I texted one of the drivers and asked if they’d seen Six. Nothing. I called Francesco. “Brother, do you know where Six would be tonight?” I asked as

ArabellaThe kitchen was cold. The only source of light came from the pale glow of the fridge. I poured myself a glass of milk with trembling hands. My fingers could barely hold the glass steady. The Falcone estate was eerily quiet. Most people had gone to bed, and the guards were unusually silent. My bare feet padded softly against the marble tiles as I slipped into the corner near the window.I sank down onto the floor, knees drawn to my chest, and placed the cold glass between them. The glass of milk was forgotten, and my mind wandered.I pressed my forehead to my knees, shoulders drooping as I let the tears come. They were silent at first, but my body trembled with the force of them. I was so tired of pretending. So tired of lying to everyone—especially Six. I was so tired of being Marco’s plaything. Tired of being touched by hands I hated. Tired of flinching in my own skin.Tired of being constantly watched, constantly cornered, constantly used. I was tired of the bruises, the pa

Marco The study was dim. I sat behind my desk, the glass of whiskey untouched, staring at nothing. The door swung open without a knock. “Marco!” Bianca’s voice cut through the stillness. She waltzed in, a radiant smile on her face. She skipped happily into the room. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” she said, flopping onto the velvet couch like she owned the place. “You will not believe last night.” I didn’t respond. “Six was a mess. Absolutely wrecked. What did you say to him? Whatever it was—bravo.” She clapped once, laughing. “He practically fell into my arms. You should do that again.” She giggled, eyes dreamy. “We danced, we kissed. His arms—God, Marco. I didn’t think he’d feel like that. So strong. He wrapped them around me tightly. He felt warm. He smelled sweet—and like alcohol too. He had so much to drink last night...” She sighed. “I think I like him. No, scratch that—I love him.” She leaned back and draped her legs over the armrest, her eyes half-closed. “He lo

ArabellaThe house was quiet when I entered the living room. Golden light filtered through sheer drapes. It was late afternoon, and no one was home. I sighed in relief, thinking I was finally alone—until I spotted her.Marco’s grandmother sat in her usual place by the tall window, a heavy knit shawl around her shoulders, her silver hair pulled back in a tight twist. The scent of herbal tea filled the air. She was reading an old book. She looked up the moment she heard me. “Arabella,” she said softly, smiling. “Come. Sit.” She gestured at the chair behind her.I peered around hesitantly. “I don’t want to be a bother…”“You’re not. Now come,” she insisted. My feet felt heavy as I crossed the room, but I obeyed. I always obeyed. I sat beside her on the antique loveseat, trying to keep my back straight. I tried to breathe, ignoring the pain I felt on the inside when I did. Marco hadn’t hit me in days, but I was still bruised up from the last time that he did.She took my hand in hers. Her

SixI heard her.Not in the way I wanted to. Not in the way I ever should have.I stood outside that door like a goddamn statue—like a fool—trying not to react to the sounds coming from inside. They weren’t screams or pleas. They were soft sighs of pleasure—Arabella moaning in pleasure.I could recognize that voice anywhere. I’d heard it one too many times, replayed it a billion more in my head. Her voice always did wonders to me, and yet in this moment, it filled me with dread.I stopped thinking. It was hard, but it was the only way to keep my mind from overdrive, the only way to check my emotions. That ability is what’s kept me alive in this world for so long.I cleared my thoughts and stared off into space. Her moans grew louder, and even though all I wanted to do was charge into that room and pummel Marco to death, I didn’t move a muscle. I didn’t show a flicker of emotion. I could feel the eyes of the men on me, watching intently, no doubt armed and ready to attack.I guess I ne

Trigger Warning:ArabellaI let out a big exhale. It was torture to be so close to him and yet so far away from him. Still, I couldn’t help myself. I reached out and touched his hand lightly. He flinched as if it burned. My heart broke. I started to pull away, but then he stopped me—not with words. He placed his palm over mine and gave it a small, aching squeeze. He didn’t look at me, didn’t speak, but he didn’t let go either.Tears pricked at my eyes, but I blinked them away, suddenly feeling choked in the air-conditioned car. When we arrived, he walked me to Marco’s office. We walked past a few of Marco’s men in the lounge area. The hallway was dim, and I was almost tempted to jump on Six, but I restrained myself. We got to a door, then Six knocked. He stole a glance at me as he did.Marco’s voice rang out. “Come in!”Suddenly, an overwhelming feeling of dread washed over me.I turned to Six just before the door opened. His eyes met mine, and for the first time, I saw fear in them.
