Gerald walked deeper into the room, feeling unnaturally tense for no reason. It didn't sit right with him to be seeing his mom this way.

" So you finally come to see me after days of staying away?" His mother asks. Turns out she was sharing the same sentiment as him. He cleared his throat.

" Hello mother. Sorry for coming so late. I came as quickly as I could."

" Indeed you did." She replied and he could detect the sarcasm in her voice. That calmed him a little. His mother had always been sarcastic. He got to the bed and glanced at his mother. She still looked the same but on a closer to inspection, he could detect how tired her eyes looked and how pale her skin was. His chest began to hurt.

" Don't just stand there, have a seat." Sarah muttered and he immediately found a place to seat.

" So, why have you come? I'm sure you're not here to see me. You can see for yourself, I'm doing just fine." His mother began, her stern voice wafting through his ea
