Laila's POV

“Are you serious? About… the stealing part?” My voice involuntarily went low.

The lady looked at me with a mock expression as if it should be obvious. “If you were asked to give up your powers would you?”

I paused as the question caught me off guard.

Would I?

If another mother had come to me and said the only way to save their child was for me to give up these powers, would I have been able to give them up?

It wasn't an easy choice.

Fortunately, Theoron spoke before I could respond,

“We don't have the luxury to waste time, I've already wasted enough time we had a deal Laila.” Theron said his voice was almost a plea.

I looked at the bald healer, my hand folded as if in prayer. “Can you heal him?”

She shook her head. “I already did what I could, you saw the way I healed your lover, my powers are deteriorating.”

I looked back at Theron feeling a little pang in my chest. He had kept his part of the deal and I couldn't hold my own end.
