Anna
Living with the pain of rejection hadn't been easy. Looking at my reflection was a daily reminder of the rejection I had been through. After arriving, I had spent the first few days sobbing and not going anywhere.
I had to talk myself into getting up and moving on. I had already lost weight because I wasn't eating and Adelaide wasn't even speaking to me.
After that, I had started roaming around the city, searching for a job but I never found one. I had been searching for over two weeks, but I never found one. I had paid for the motel where I had been staying, but I was quickly running out of money. If I didn't find a job soon, I will be out on the streets.
For the past few weeks I had been feeling really sick and vomiting in the mornings, but I never went to hospital because I had no money. I got out very quickly but I really didn't know what's wrong. Adelaide had also been very quiet lately. She hardly spoke to me and even when I asked her something, she would only reply me with your word and become quiet again. I asked her what the problem was but she said she was fine. I just brushed it off as it being that she was still feeling sad about Sean.
I was currently on a street lined with restaurants and I had been going into request for a job had been rejected each time. I was already tired. I had finally gotten to the end of the Street where there was a restaurant that had a vacancy sign in front. It was the last restaurant on the line. When I entered into the building it was really busy and I could see a man I assumed to be the manager shouting from the front of the counter to at someone in the kitchen. There weren't many people in the restaurant, maybe just two or three because they weren't open yet.
I walked to the counter towards the manager. He was a short, chubby man with a receding hairline, beady eyes and stubby fingers. He was shouting so much that the veins in his head were protruding, almost like they were going to burst.
He literally looks like a balloon that's about to pop.
"Um… good morning." I greeted him, trying really hard not to laugh at his face.
"Yes, how many I help you!?" He said aggressively without turning to me and I stepped back, shocked.
He turned to me and his eyes widened when he noticed I wasn't an employee. "Oh… good morning, how many I help you?" He said, his voice becoming soft and he smiled at me.
"I saw the vacancy for a job outside, so I came in for the interview." I said and realization dawned on his eyes.
"Oohh.. come right this way." He gestured to a table and two chairs at the corner of the room. I followed him and we sat across from each other.
"So.. what's your name?" He asked, picking up his pen.
"Anna." He wrote it down.
"Okay, Anna, how old are you?" He asked, smiling at me. I could see that he was forcing the smile.
"I'm twenty."
"Twenty." I frowned.
Why does he keep repeating my words?
"Do you have any previous restaurant experience?"
"Yes, I worked at a diner in my pack as a waitress."
"Diner in pack." I narrowed my eyes at him as he looked down.
He was really starting to get on my nerves.
The smile jumped back to my face as he looked up at me. There was a strange look in his eyes that I couldn't quite place.
"Okay, why do you want to work here?"
"Because, I saw a sign on the front and I need a job." I try to hide the sarcasm in my voice as I smile tightly.
"Need a job."
I am really going to strangle this guy.
"Where do you live?"
"I don't have a place to stay, so I live at a motel." I say and he stares at me for a while before he looks down at his clipboard.
"Motel… okay, just write the address here and you've got the job."
"Really?" I raised my eyebrows as my eyes widen. "Thank you, Mr…" I trailed off.
"Connor." He completed. "And you are free to resume work immediately."
"Wow, thank you so much. I'll work hard." I stood up and he guided me to the kitchen.
It was weird because no one ever hired someone so easily, especially when I didn't have a permanent address. Plus, I was going to resume immediately.
I immediately brushed the thought aside and walked forward, not wanting to jinx myself. Maybe some people were just nice like that.
Unlike some assholes I knew.
"You're going to be washing the dishes for now and if you do well, you might get a promotion." He said on the way to the busy kitchen.
There were a lot of people in the kitchen moving about, getting ready for the day.
"Everyone." He clapped and the chaos of the kitchen halted. "This is Anna, she'll start working here today, so treat her nicely and get along, okay?" His voice sounded really bored.
"Yes, sir." They chorused.
"Tony, you've been promoted! Show her to her station." I heard an excited shout from the back of the room. He left after saying that.
Well, thank you, Tony for giving me your job. I appreciate the enthusiasm.
Someone walked up to me and getured for me to follow him. He was head chef of the kitchen, I guessed. He was a man in his late fourties and had brown hair and brown eyes that had wrinkles beside them. All the other employees were staring at me as he took me to the very end of the kitchen in a quiet corner.
"Well, my name is Adrien and I'm the head chef." I knew it. "And you'll be starting here today. You'll wash every dish brought to you and put them in this rack." Already in the sink were a ton of dishes waiting for me. Now I knew why Tony was happy.
Did Tony even do anything this morning?
"If you have any questions, you can ask me, but for now, you can start." He said and walked away, without even welcoming me.
Rude much.
Damn you, Tony.
Tying my hair up, I put on the gloves on the side and got straight to work. Some of the stains on the plate were almost impossible to remove, but I was able to get them out after minutes of scrubbing hard.
I'm better than you, Tony.
I hadn't even seen who Tony was, all I knew was that I didn't like him.
The more I washed the dishes, the more dishes were brought in. The restaurant had probably opened and judging by the amount of dishes brought in, it was popular. I wiped my sweat with my arm and sighed as I tried to increase my pace.
It was finally time for my break, my body was already spent. I was getting more tired than usual. I was given some food to eat and rested for just a few minutes before I was told to get back to work.
All the people in the kitchen were polite so far, but no one approached me, and I was grateful for that. I wasn't ready to associate with people yet because I wasn't sure how to relate yet without being unnecessarily angry and irritable.
The restaurant finally closed by seven which was actually quite early, but I wasn't complaining. I got in line for my pay and was given fifty dollars. I looked at the manager, confused.
"You only wash the dishes, so your pay isn't much." He said and told me to get out of the line.
"But…" I stuttered as I stood there with my mouth open. I had worked all day for just fifty dollars. I sighed and walked out of the restaurant. There was nothing I could do, I really needed the money to survive.
Damn you, Tony and also you, Connor.
I walked all the way back to my motel room and dropped in my bed. I was beyond tired. I decided to talk to Adelaide for a bit before I took a shower.
'Hey, Adelaide, what's up?' I asked.
'Im fine, Anna."
'Youve been very quiet lately, is there a problem?' I asked her as I stood up to put my things away.
'There actually is something that I have to tell you.'
'Okay, I'm listening.' I bent down to pick up my bag that had fallen down.
'Please, promise me you won't get mad, for any reason; either at me or the thing I want to tell you.'
I scoffed. 'Umm.. okay, whatever, what is it?' I was really curious now.
'You're pregnant, Anna.'
AnnaThe words that had just come out of Adelaide took a while to register in my brain. I stood up straight and frowned. 'What do you mean? I'm confused.' I let out a dry laugh.'You're pregnant, Anna.' She repeated and I stumbled. I caught myself on the edge of my bed as my legs suddenly felt weak and slowly sat down. 'Ada, don't play such games with me, I'm really not in the mood.' 'I'm not playing games, Anna. That's the reason I've been quiet lately, I've been thinking of a way to break this news to you. I'm sorry, anna.' My body went limp, as I suddenly felt weak.'How did this happen?' Tears had filled my eyes. From the time I left the Blue Moon pack till now, it had never once crossed my mind that I might get pregnant. It was the worst news I had ever received in my entire life. Sean had not only rejectede and made me leave my pack, but he had also made my life more miserable by getting me pregnant. 'You had sex with Sean more than three times, Anna, it was bound to happen
Sean"The council members really don't think you're responsible enough to take over the pack." My dad, the Alpha said to me. My head snapped up so fast, I almost felt dizzy."What do you mean, dad?" I frowned at his insinuations. We were sitting in front of the meeting room, waiting for the council members to call us in. I was panicking as I didn't know what to do."They called your mother and I to a meeting and let us know that they might pass the position out to someone else. Which mean they don't think you're suitable enough for the position." His voice was stern.I looked at my mother, confused, but the look in her eyes showed that she was still very angry and didn't want to speak to me. I felt really helpless. I placed my hand on my chest trying to calm the pain, but it was to no avail. The only thing I could do was to ignore it.My mom and dad had been acting very harshly towards me for a while now. I had not had one moment of peace, even with the council members. The people in
SeanI stepped into the meeting room, my heart beating hard in my chest. I didn't know what to expect from this meeting. Things could either end in our favor or it could end really badly. I stood beside my parents at the end of the long meeting table. At the other end were former Betas Cole and Addy, former Gammas Brown and Lily and the pack priestess. My grand parents were supposed to be part of them, but they had died a long time ago. Also seated were the present Betas and Gammas. The members of the council always consisted of the pack's former leaders. So the members seated there were the pack rulers before my dad took over as Alpha. In turn, when I became Alpha, the position will pass on to my parents and his colleagues. My grand parents would have been the leaders of the council, but they were dead.I tried to look as confident as I could without looking conceited so that they would think that I was regretful. These people really pissed me off, poking their noses where they didn
AnnaI had never been so stunned in my entire life. The surprises I had been getting just kept getting worse and worse by the day. Mr. Connor's breath that passed by my ears was hot and smelly. He stood behind me with his hands on my arms, rubbing up and down. I tried to shrug his hands off my arms, but he held on tightly and wouldn't let go. I sat there, my heart beating faster.Seriously, why did men have to be like this?I always somehow find myself in the most awkward situations."We don't have to make this any more difficult for ourselves. Just agree, and I'll change your life." He whispered, and my face squeezed involuntarily, goosebumps lining my skin. Not from fear, but from irritation.I really didn't know whether he was trying to sound seductive, because it was creeping me out to no ends. The thought of even doing anything with Mr. Connor was appalling, and it's not like I would ever. "Come on, just agree." He said placing disgusting wet kisses on my ear and I moved my head
AnnaIt was already the next week, and I was on my way to work in the morning. It had just been a week, but it already felt like a year. My body was getting really tired because of the stupid pregnancy and I was weak from all the vomiting that morning, so I prayed that I wouldn't fall sick, because that would be bad for me.Adelaide was still being a snubby bitch to me even after I tried to speak to her. She was just too proud. I shook my head as I pushed the doors open and walked into the restaurant, thankfully I wasn't late, so there was no reason for Mr. Connor to stop me. I walked to the locker room and dropped my bag. I had noticed that Mr. Connor had been picking on me lately, and I didn't want to jump to conclusions about the reason, but I was really sure it was because I had rejected him. He would shout at me for the littlest things, even when I didn't do anything, he would always find a way to call me out. It had started to get annoying, and I knew the other workers in the
SeanMy eyes opened to bright light shining into the room from the window. I placed my hand over my eyes as I squinted them. I sat up and looked around the room, wondering where I was as I rubbed my eyes with my hands and looked around again and that was when I finally remembered. It was my old room in my parent's house. I tried to stand up from the bed, when I felt a distant pang in my chest. With it came memories of what had happened. The last thing I remember was fainting and I didn't know why. I rushed out of the room, to look for my parents to ask why I had fainted.I checked their room, but they weren't there, so I skipped stairs in my rush to get downstairs to the living room. Landing on the last step, I stopped in my tracks as I saw all the people that were in the living room.Seated there were my parents, Cole and Addy, the pack priestess and Beta Kevin. What were they all doing here?"Sean." My mom stood up immediately she noticed me, causing others to turn to me.She walk
AnnaI woke up to noises coming from beside me. I squinted my eyes due to the bright lights in the room. I looked around to see Danny and two other female employees standing a few feet away from me, talking about something."....she possibly be pregnant?" I heard Danny ask."I really don't know. I just told you what I felt when I touched her." One of the female employee beside him said. How the hell had she found out?I dragged my body off of the bench I had been placed on. I groaned as my body felt really sore from the hard bench. I could still feel the pang from before distantly in my chest. I looked up as they still hadn't noticed me, so I cleared my throat to get their attention."Ohh, Anna. You're awake." Danny moved towards me. He came over and sat beside me."How are you feeling now? You just said that your chest was hurting before you passed out. We were all scared and confused." The other women that were standing with him remained where they were, either they didn't want to
I laughed dryly as I watched Danny sit there, his body stiff from shock. He leaned forward, his face very close to mine, his eyes wide."What?" I had to laugh, because the expression his face was really funny."You're pregnant? But how is that possible? You just moved here a few weeks ago and last time I asked, you didn't have a mate, or… didn't want to talk about your mate…" He stopped. "...you're sleeping with someone else." He wiggled his eyebrows.I burst out laughing. It was weird how close Danny and I had gotten in just a space of almost a week. He was a carefree person and exactly what I needed in my life at that moment. He was like a ray of sunshine in my dark hell hole of a life."I'm not sleeping with anyone, Danny." "So then how did you get pregnant." He sat back in his chair.I sighed. "It's not really a long story, but I'll just tell you the essentials because you're my friend." He leaned forward again, his blue eyes shining with curiosity."Well, I do have a mate… well
