CHAPTER 56

THE MEIR FAMILY

"How was your day?" Ella asked Damon, as he threw himself on to the couch, setting his bag down on the floor, in the usual spot. He let out a yawn, before answering.

"It was good."

"How about your client? How is she?" Ella didn't know too much about Kahlan. She knew that she had lost family members, but that was about it.

"She's fine. I think she may be getting better."

"That's good." He stood up, stretching. Ella watched him intently.

"I'm so tired." Another yawn took place. "I didn't get much sleep last night."

"Why not?" Ella questioned. He shrugged.

"I don't know. I guess there is just too much going on in my mind." Just like that, his mind went back to Kahlan. She was starting to take over his every thought. He flashed back to their secret moment, and it was like he could feel all the hair on his body stand up. That was the feeling that he was trying to chase away. "I'm going to take a nap."

"Do you want to eat dinner first?" She asked.
