CHAPTER 55

ROBERT AND CARLY

Carly and her father walked through the front door of their home, coffee drinks in their hands, in mid conversation. Robert laughed, as he held the door open for his only daughter, who talked about the cute cashier who seemed to be flirting with him.

"I'm trying to tell you dad, she's into you. Why else would she always add an extra splash of Vanilla and extra whipped cream, without charging you, like she's supposed to."

"She was being nice," he answered, closing and locking the door. Carly made her way into the living room, sitting on the couch, with that bright smile of hers still on display. Robert sat in a comfy one-person chair to the right of her, taking notice of the happiness she was showing. It was strange to him, he thought she would be on edge for a while, scared and keeping to herself, but she wasn't. She was being just the opposite. "You know, I think I should pull you out of school more often, just so we can have these moments."
