Chapter 28

KAELION POV

Seliora's attempt to kill me in my own house filled with guards and my pack made me chuckle a bit.

Now that she was lying down in my bed, I didn't have to worry about her again.

“Hello everyone,” I stated with a smile walking into the party which was filled with angry faces. “It was all a misunderstanding, she was drunk and must have spilt the drink on me intentionally.”

“She seemed like someone who knew what she was doing to me,” Claire said with a straight face, moving towards me.

I understood that they had their differences but whatever Claire was doing could ruin this pack regale. I only wanted the party to continue.

“We should let this go, please enjoy the party, everyone,” I uttered, walking towards Claire.

It seemed like my speech didn't have an effect at first but after the disc jockey played a slow song, everyone moved to the dance floor and the party started to look lively again.

“Shall we?” I asked, stretching my hands forward towards a visibly angry Claire.

“I do not know why you keep going easy on that girl, she is clearly…,” Claire said, but I immediately cut in.

“Let’s just dance,” I whispered to her, placing my right hand on her waist and the other hand on her left hand.

For a while, I danced with Claire while reminiscing about my past moments with Misha at the pack regale. It all felt so surreal.

“Are you okay? You have been quiet,” Claire whispered, as we continued to dance.

“I am. I just miss her so much, especially on days like this,” I replied.

“I miss her too,” Claire muttered, slowly pulling away from me. “I need to tell you something I have been keeping in for a long time.”

“Spill,” I muttered, wondering why she looked so nervous.

“It's game time guys,” Chris announced before Claire could talk.

“We..can..talk about this later, it is not a big deal at all,” She stuttered before walking away while I wondered what was up with her.

The games consisted of different activities but it usually started with the costume contest. People who wish to participate in the game would wear a costume and a winner would be chosen at the end.

“Let's go,” Chris screamed with excitement as some of the pack members began to showcase their costumes while I watched with a smile on my face.

Being with my pack and seeing them all happy and safe always makes me happy.

Five hours later, we were done with all of the games and activities but there was one last thing. It was time to showcase my paintings.

I always made sure to do this every year but after what happened to Misha, I just have not been the same.

“I am sorry everyone but this last part would not be taking place this year,” Jackson stated, signalling to the disc jockey to play a song.

Everyone looked disappointed for a while but soon forgot about it and started to groove to the song.

“They were all looking forward to this,” Jackson said, walking over to me with two glasses of champagne.

He handed one to me while we both sipped and watched the pack members dance.

“I know Seliora tried to hurt you, Kaelion. There is no way you would hurt yourself with a knife,” He uttered after a while.

“She is mad at me and I get it, I killed her pack after all,” I muttered, gulping down the champagne and picking up another glass from a tray behind me.

“You also lied about her being drunk. Why are you covering for her, Kaelion?” Jackson asked.

I frequently tried to convince myself I was only protecting Seliora because I needed her to help me take down her father but I knew deep down in me that it was not the only reason.

Each time I looked in her eyes, I just felt like myself again.

I had no idea why.

“We can talk about this some other day, Jackson,” I muttered, taking another drink and gulping it down.

A few hours later, the guests started to leave one after the other. By fifteen minutes past ten, the majority of them had left.

“You should get some rest, Kaelion. You had a lot to drink tonight,” Jackson stated.

“The party was great, Jackson,” I replied, walking away from him.

I scanned around the party for Claire so we could continue our conversation but I headed to my room since she was nowhere to be found.

After entering, I switched on the light and took a deep breath. Seliora was still on my bed but she seemed to have fallen asleep.

I gently made my way towards her and gazed at her but stopped myself just as I was about to caress her face.

“This must be the alcohol,” I thought to myself, pulling off my clothes and walking into the bathroom to take a bath.

After I was done bathing, I wiped off some of her blood stains off the floor and walked over to the waste basket which was at the side of my wardrobe.

As I disposed of the blood-stained tissues, I sighted my drawing board which I had not been able to touch since Misha’s date, and walked towards it.

I slowly picked up my drawing pencil and looked to Seliora who had turned towards my direction.

After hesitating for about a minute, I started to draw Seliora’s face.

In about a minute, I finished the drawing and stared at it with mixed emotions. I was happy I could draw again but could not help but deny I had a soft spot for Seliora.

It was the reason I could not see her in the cell even though she hurt Claire and why I spared her tonight and tended to her injuries.

“This cannot be happening,” I muttered in denial tearing the drawing off the drawing board and squeezing the drawing with both of my hands. “I only feel guilty because of what you did to her pack.”
