I stared out the window while Enzo drove. Mum didn't say a word either as we made our way home. What is the probability Mira would be happy to see Mum? Would she accept her? At least there would finally be someone else to look after her. I pulled Enzo's coat tighter around myself and fidgeted with my fingers. I used to think I'd have so many questions if I ever saw Mum again. But now that she was here, my mind was completely blank. Enzo pulled up in front of the house, and I stepped out. Mum got out too. I stared at the house she had left us behind years ago. I could see the light inside flickering through the window. I felt a hand on my back. I looked up at Enzo and forced a small smile. Mum let out a quiet sigh as she looked at the house. “Everything still looks the same,” she murmured. “Nothing has changed.” I let out a quiet scoff. “Enzo!” Mira shouted excitedly from the window before running out of the house. She rushed past Mum and me and threw her arms around him. “You came again today,” she said happily. “Of course,” Enzo replied, gently ruffling her hair. “Nick, is he sleeping over?” she asked, turning to me. Then she looked back at Enzo. “What's wrong with him?” she asked, pointing at me. “You've grown so much,” Mum said to Mira as she reached out to touch her. Mira quickly stepped back, avoiding her. “Who is she?” she whispered, and I bent down to her level. “This... she's Mum. Our mum, Mira,” I said softly, smoothing her hair. Mira didn't say a word. Everywhere fell silent. Avery still hadn't gone home. She stood across the living room, watching everything unfold. Mum bent down to Mira's height. “My baby, I didn't know you...” she began, but Mira stepped away from her. “Don't call me that.“ She firmly said. “What? You didn't know I survived? You didn't know that baby survived?” Mira shot back. I rubbed my forehead. The headache was coming back. “Why is she here?” Mira asked me. “She finally decided to take care of her children?” I reached for her, trying to calm her down. “Mira…” I started, but she shoved my hand away before I could finish. “So you're really going to forgive her?” she yelled. “Was that the reason you brought her here?“ She shook her head. “The same woman who left you? After everything she did to you?” “I'm sorry,” Mum whispered. Silence filled the air. “I'm so sorry, my baby.” She reached out to touch Mira. Mira hits her hand away. “Don't touch me,” she snapped. “Mira,” I called. “I want her to leave,” Mira shouted. “Mira, please. Can we talk about this inside?” I pleaded. She walked up to me and hit my eye with her clenched fist. “Mira!” Everyone called at once as Avery quickly pulled her into her arms. “Let me go!” she cried, struggling to break free from Avery’s grip. “I hate you! I hate you!” Mira sobbed, fighting as hard as she could to get away from Avery's grip. “I don't want to see you here. Leave our house right now, or I'll call the cops!” Mira shouted. I started to panic as Mira kept yelling at Mum. Ever since I started taking care of Mira, I'd never seen her lose her temper like this. “I'm here to make things right,” Mum said, tears filling her eyes. “I'm so sorry.” “Enzo,” Mira called softly. “I don't want to stay here anymore. I want to leave.” “Huh? Avery, can I go home with you?” she asked, turning to Avery. “I don't want to stay here with her. I don't!” she cried. “Mum, why don't we meet again tomorrow?” I pleaded, worried about Mira. Mum nodded quietly and sniffled before turning back to look at Mira. Mum left the house, and Mira pulled herself free from Avery's arms. “I hate you for bringing her here!” she cried, tears streaming down her face. She ran into the room and slammed the door shut. I could still hear her sobbing, and my heart ached with every cry. I went after her, but Avery stopped me with a soft sigh. “I'll go talk to her,” she said before knocking gently and going inside. “She'll be okay... right?” I asked quietly, staring into space. “Mira has spent her whole life with no one but you after the woman who gave birth to her walked away,” he said, gently running his fingers through my hair. “She'll be angry for a while. You only have to stay strong. Mira needs you, and she's grown into such a wonderful girl because you've always been there for her.” He took my hands in his and I let out a quiet sigh. “I feel so stupid. Why now? Why did she have to come back?” I whispered. Enzo pulled me into a hug and gently patted my back. What was I supposed to do? I let out a shaky breath as my chest tightened with pain.LORENZO GRAYSON \ VADIM KERZHAKOV ©We didn't even realize how much time had gone. I looked at Nick as he slept peacefully on the couch. He had fallen asleep while sitting on my lap.I gently brushed the stains from his clothes as he snuggled into my touch. I tucked the hair away from his forehead and placed a soft kiss there. Then I stood up and went back to work. I still had a lot to finish before I had to leave.Suddenly, a phone started ringing. It wasn't mine.I glanced around before walking over to Nick's bag.His phone lit up with "Avery" on the screen. As I picked it up, I noticed he had a long list of missed calls and messages.I was about to put it back when I accidentally answered the call.“Finally! What on earth have you been doing with Grayson?” she asked. My eyes immediately shifted toward the door.Has she seen us?Wasn't the door closed?“You left hours ago, and you haven't answered any of my calls,” she said while I stayed quiet.“I know you're with Grayson right now
LORENZO GRAYSON\ VADIM KERZHAKOV©I couldn't stop.Neither of us wanted to stop. The kiss was intense between us and we weren't ready to stop.I heard Nick moan during the kiss. We couldn't pull away.I loved the taste of his soft lips.I parted his legs and he wrapped them around my back. I positioned my hands on the sides of his head and softly planted kisses on his neck.Soft moans slipped from him as his fingers worked in my hair. Nick was slowly grinding on me without even realizing it.He was clearly trying to suppress his pleasure. My mind went blank. I couldn't think straight.I looked at his face, but he quickly turned away. His cheeks were flushed. One hand covered his mouth while he bit lightly on his thumb.I turned him towards me and took away his thumb before placing a kiss to his lips. His eyes were pleading. NICK WALKER ©This morning felt different from my usual routine. Most mornings, Mira would always wake me up with endless questions, especially about what we were going to eat.“What do you want to eat today?” I asked as I packed my books into my bag while we got ready for school.“I'm not hungry,” she replied, and I let out a quiet sigh.“You need to eat something before school,” I told her, but she stayed silent.I reached out to her, but she pulled away and picked up her bag.“You should talk to me,” I said with a sigh.“Mira.”“Mira, would you please listen?”She slowly sat on the floor, her face filled with sadness.“I don't want her. I don't want her to be part of this family.”I sat down on the floor across from her.“I never said that. I...” I began, but she cut me off.“I don't even want to meet her. Why did you bring her home?” she asked, her voice about to break down.I sighed and moved closer to her.“No matter what happened, she's still our mum. And it's okay if you don't

We're done with today's exam,” Avery said as we walked.“That was exhausting.” She stretched her arms with a groan.“Oh!” She suddenly stopped like she had remembered something.“I forgot to ask,” she whispered into my ear. “What happened to your lip, Nick Walker?”I quickly turned to look at her.“I... I bit my lip accidentally,” I said, and she rolled her eyes.“Liar,” she whispered before walking ahead.I sighed as I watched her.I knew she was definitely going to figure it out.“So, what's for lunch today?” she asked, slowing down so I could catch up with her.“I don't know...” I began, just then, a guy walked up to us interrupting me.“Hey, nerd,” he called.“Someone's outside asking for the famous Nick Walker.”He walked away before I could respond. The famous Nick Walker?I shook my head and walked outside with Avery.“I wonder who's looking for you,” Avery said while I thought a
LORENZO GRAYSON\ VADIM KERZHAKOV ©This morning didn't go the way I planned. I had wanted to go to college with Nick.Instead, Alina called and asked me to pick her up.“You don't mind that I asked you to take me to college?” she asked.“Not at all,” I replied.“I already told Papa about you,” Alina said.I glanced at her before looking back at the road.“He's now curious about you, Enzo.”I let out a quiet chuckle.Just then, a message from Nick popped up on my phone, which clipped onto the blades of the car's air vent. “You really seem close to that kid. What's going on between the two of you?” Alina asked.“I like him,” I replied simply. She nodded at first, then slowly turned to look at me.“You don't mean that kind of like... do you?” she asked.I stayed silent. She let out a quiet scoff, clearly unable to believe it.“What on earth are you thinking?” she asked. What was I thinking?I liked Nick Walker.Somehow, our lives had become tangled from the very first day, and neither o
