The feeling was new to me. All of it was. I'd never liked someone so much that I wanted them all to myself. I didn't know the first thing about love. I'd never been in a relationship before. But one thing I knew for sure was that I'd give it everything I had. I never thought I could feel this happy. And if being with Enzo was truly what I wanted, then I was going to go for it. “Why do you look so happy this morning?” Avery asked, making me look up at her. We were getting ready for the outing she had forced me to go for. “Do I?” I asked. She gave me a teasing smile. I cleared my throat and looked away. The last thing I needed was for her to guess I'd been thinking about Lorenzo again. “You're happy because we're finally going out today, aren't you?” Avery asked. I turned to look at her. “Out of all the things to be happy about,” Mira muttered under her breath. Unfortunately, we both heard her. “Yes, yes. Of course,” I said, nodding with a nervous laugh. Phew. That was close. I still hadn't told Avery about everything that had happened between Enzo and me. The truth was, I didn't even know how to tell her. It didn't really matter, did it? “What happened to your hand?” Avery asked. I looked down at the injured hand from last night. “I got cut by a piece of broken glass,” I replied. “That's all.” “Be careful next time,” she said and I nodded. “Can we go now? I really want my ice cream,” Mira said, and I chuckled. “Of course. I just need to check my makeup,” Avery said as she looked at herself in the mirror. “Ugh. We're just going out, not on a date, Avery,” Mira complained. I sighed. Their usual bickering was about to start again. “I have to look pretty. What if I run into someone handsome... like Grayson?” Avery said, and my eyes narrowed at her right away. She looked at me and let out a nervous laugh. “Wrong choice of words,” she said quickly. “I don't think Grayson can be mine anymore.” I started fiddling with my fingers. “What does that mean?” Mira asked, looking at Avery before turning to me. Mira and I looked at each other in silence before I finally raised an eyebrow. “What?” I asked. “Nothing,” she replied quickly, looking away. That was strange. “Can we leave now?” I asked as I stood up. “Why would you even think you'd run into Grayson at an amusement park?” Mira asked and I let out a sigh. “Can we stop talking about Grayson and just leave already?” I said. “Okay, okay,” Avery replied, picking up her bag. ★ AN HOUR LATER ★ We arrived at the park after listening to Avery and Mira bicker the whole way. Those two never seemed to get tired of arguing. “Do you want to try this one?” Avery asked, pointing at the ring toss game. “What? Hell no,” Mira replied. My head snapped at her immediately. “Language, Mira,” I said, and she let out a sigh. “What about the kiddie train?” Avery asked. “I'm not a kid,” she replied. I couldn't help but scoff. “Neither are you a teenager. You're nine. You're still a kid,” Avery said. Mira gasped dramatically. “Why don't we all ride the roller coaster?” I suggested. Mira immediately gave me a thumbs-up. “I'll go pay for the tickets,” I said, but Avery stopped me. “I'll pay. You should get ice cream for everyone before someone starts complaining again,” she said, clearly talking about Mira. “Exactly! That's the whole point of this outing,” Mira said with a grin as Avery walked toward the ticket counter for the thrill rides. “Come on, let's go,” I said to Mira as we headed to get some ice cream. “Nick,” Mira called. “Hm?” I replied, still walking without looking at her. “Do you like Uncle Enzo?” I stopped in my tracks and looked down at her in surprise. “What?” “Did Avery tell you that?” I asked. Mira blinked at me. “Wait… Avery knew you liked Grayson?” I just stared at her, completely confused. “Who told you I liked Grayson?” I asked. She paused for a moment, thinking. “Why do you still keep his coat?” she asked. “And why do you always react whenever someone says his name?” I ran a hand through my hair. I didn't know my little sister noticed things that well. “Why... why don't we get our ice cream before Avery comes back?” I said, quickly changing the subject as I started walking. Mira happily followed beside me. I paid for the ice cream with a nervous smile, but her question kept replaying in my head. I let out a quiet sigh while Mira stood beside me, giggling as she happily licked her ice cream. She didn't even look bothered by what she'd just asked me. “Grayson and I are just friends, alright?” I told Mira as we walked back. “Doesn't look like it,” she muttered, and I sighed. “What were you two doing? I was waiting,” she said as she quickly took an ice cream from my hand before we all headed to the roller coaster. When it was our turn, we showed our tickets, and took our seats, with Mira sitting in the middle. A few minutes later, the ride started. The wind rushed past us as loud screams filled the air. Mira and Avery wouldn't stop screaming beside me. “Nick!” Avery shouted over the noise. “What?” I shouted back. “I know you like him, and that's okay! I'm happy you found solace in him!” Avery yelled, and I gasped. What the hell? She really chose to yell that on a roller coaster, right after Mira's question? I was so done with both of them. “He likes you too, okay?” she screamed. My heart skipped a beat as I heard those words, while the rush of wind crashed against my face.NICK WALKER ©I always held Enzo close whenever we were together, and it includes this moment also.I sometimes get the fear that he might run from my arms and I can't explain where that feeling came from.Maybe I wasn't wrong to feel that way. For a moment, it felt like I was about to lose him.But he was here again, his tongue stuck in mine. He pulled away from me and stared at my bleeding wrist. The cloth wrapped around it was already soaked with blood. He let out a sigh and turned to leave, but I quickly grabbed his shirt. He looked back at me and ruffled my hair, giving me a short smile before gently removing my hand from his shirt. Then he walked out of the gym, leaving me alone.I stared down at my wrist. It hurt, but I barely registered the pain.My mind was too focused on Enzo.I couldn't stop thinking about him.I looked across the large gym and noticed cigarettes and ashes scattered across the floor.Everything was a mess. It looked like he had been here all day. What was
NICK WALKER ©After my conversation with Mr. Kyle that day, I still couldn't get hold of Enzo for another three days.Mr. Kyle wasn't letting me see him because his men kept stopping me. Even when he left his office, one thing or another always stopped me from getting to him.My head was a mess. Back at home, I had planned a small outing for Mira and Mom without telling either of them. But it turned into a failure, just like I expected.Mira and I had a fight before I left home for work.Enzo still wasn't replying to my messages.I pressed my lips together and stared at the entrance of the bar."What's got you thinking?" Shawn asked as he stood in front of the counter."Ah. Nothing, really," I said with a forced smile.I suddenly spotted Mr. Kyle leaving his office upstairs with his men. I quickly grabbed my phone."Where are you going?" Shawn asked as I left my station.“Uh, the bathroom. Cover for me for a while,” I told him before walking outside. Before I could get to him, his men
NICK WALKER ©The exams were over, and the holiday had finally started. But I hadn't been able to reach Enzo for the past three days.He hadn't come to my house, and I hadn't seen him at work either. He wasn't replying to my texts or answering my calls.I couldn't stop worrying.I just wanted to know if he was okay. Was he sick?“Aren't you going to eat?” Avery asked as we sat down for lunch.I sighed as I stared at the food in front of me.“If you're not going to eat it, give it to me,” Avery said, pulling my plate toward herself.Seriously? Before she could take another bite, Mira smacked the back of Avery's hand with her spoon and pulled the plate back to me.“Ow! That hurt.”“Mira, apologize,” I said quickly as I took Avery's hand to check it.“How did you even choose her as your friend?” Mira asked, shaking her head as she continued eating.“He wasn't eating. You didn't have to be so harsh,” Avery said, rubbing the spot where Mira had hit her.“Well... sorry,” Mira mumbled.Avery
LORENZO GRAYSON \ VADIM KERZHAKOV ©My phone had been ringing nonstop the entire drive home. It was still ringing when I walked through the front door. I tossed it across the spacious living room and headed upstairs.I grabbed a travel bag and opened the drawer to get my passport. Then I looked at my reflection before sliding the mirror aside, revealing the weapons hidden behind it.I picked a few of them and reached for my phone again. I'd already sent Kyle a message, asking him to book me a flight back to Russia.I rushed back downstairs and searched for the phone I'd thrown across the living room.“Where the fuck is it?” I yelled as I searched the lounge and the kitchen connected to it.Just then, I heard a car screech to a stop outside the house. It was Kyle.I grabbed my bag and hurried to his car.“The ticket?” I asked as I walked up to him.“What's going on?” he asked.I ran a hand through my hair and let out a frustrated sigh.“Kyle, I fucking need the ticket.”“Not until you

I could wait.“ She said.“You should go. It'll take a while.“ I said.I clenched my hands on the device in my palm as I headed to the office.I needed to know what was on the drive.I unlocked the door, walked over to my laptop, and plugged it in.I searched through the files and found only one video.I clicked play.“Move it,” someone said from the video. It looked like an underground room, with several men standing around. Then I saw my mother.I furrowed my brows and paused the video. Why was Mom in the video?I pressed play and kept watching as they dragged her by the arms while she tried to break free. Then it hit me.This was connected to the day she died. She was wearing the same clothes she had on when they found her body. They threw her onto the floor, and my breath caught in my thr
LORENZO GRAYSON \ VADIM KERZHAKOV©The moment I realized what had happened at the college last night, my thoughts went straight to my father.Antonio must never find out about this. The college was large and prestigious. If the video leaked, it would spread fast. Thinking about the footage of Nick and I made me wonder if Antonio already knew.Nick had to stay safe.I promised I would protect him, and I had no intention of breaking that promise.Kyle found out about the situation before reaching out to me. Then Professor Douglas, Alina, called me when the video started spreading around the college.I found someone who hacked the college account and got the video taken down, though it took some time.I handled the college board the same way I did when I first came here to work as a professor.Somehow, my thoughts drifted back to Nick once more, and I let out a quiet sigh.If Father had already found out about him, I had to move fast. There was still so much to do, especially finding the
