The second I saw Grayson’s message, I jumped up so fast that I frightened Avery beside me. I glared at my phone and shoved my books into my bag. “What’s wrong?” Avery asked. “I’ll be back,” I said quickly and rushed out of the cafeteria. There was no way he was serious about giving me an F in this course. I let out a long sigh as I jogged to his office. Shit! Why did I even send that message? I stood outside his office for a few seconds, staring at the door while hesitating if I should even go in. I really did not want to see his cold face this morning. After a deep breath, I pushed the door open. He sat on the couch, looking tired. “Close the door,” he said slowly, his voice low and tired. “We can just leave it open,” I replied. Without a word, he stood and walked toward me. I took a small step back as he got closer. He shut the door behind me and grabbed the front of my shirt, throwing me toward the chair. His sudden move caught me off guard. Then he did something unexpected. He began spanking me. I turned to him in shock and tried to stand but his hand held me down on the couch like he had not fully thought through what he was doing. What the fuck? The room then went quiet as neither of us said a word. For a moment, he just knelt behind me on the couch, his hand still holding me down like he did not know what to do next. Then he slowly pulled away. “Fuck,” he muttered under his breath as he stood up and stepped back. I stood from the couch to yell at him when I sensed it. I glanced at my pants and I sank back into the couch, feeling embarrassed. Did I just get aroused because he spanked me? What the fuck is wrong with me? I could not believe what he had just done. I sat there, shocked and confused, trying to make sense of whatever had just happened. “I didn’t mean to do that,” he said as he adjusted his glasses and walked back to his chair. The office went quiet. He focused on the papers in his hand and worked on his computer like nothing had happened. “So, you’re really going to give me an F because I asked about Professor Douglas?” I asked but he stayed quiet. “Enzo,” I called and he finally looked up at me. “I didn’t like the way you spoke to me. Yesterday too, you sounded…” He stopped halfway and let out a quiet sigh before going back to his work. “I sounded like what?” I asked, curious. “If you’re not going to help, you can leave,” he said firmly, without looking at me. “Not until you tell me what you wanted to say,” I replied. That made him look up at me. Ever since he invited me into his office last week and said something in a language I couldn't understand, I had been curious about him. The night I saw him making out with a woman, I felt something different and I still could not tell what it was. We are not even close like that yet I cannot get Enzo out of my head because I seem to like the way he teases me every chance he gets. I have never felt this way before, so I do not really understand whatever I'm feeling. Now it seems Enzo is seeing Professor Douglas. At least he has someone who can deal with his cold attitude, right? “What I wanted to say?” he asked, pretending to think for a moment. “Oh… about the fact that you sounded and acted jealous?” he said calmly and my breath hitched for a second. Jealous? What is he even talking about? I let out a short laugh and walked to the front of his desk. “What?” he said before I could say a word. “Want to deny it?“ “Who says I'm jealous? We’re not even close enough for that to happen.” I said and he just nodded, like he does not want to argue. That only annoyed me more. “I’m leaving,” I said and walked toward the door. “You told me you weren’t interested in boys, didn’t you?” he asked behind me. I turned back to him. “What is that supposed to mean?” He stood up and walked closer. Then he leaned in a little, his face closer to mine. “Why do I feel like you’re into me already?” he said. “Nick, you clearly said you’re not into men.” My heart started beating faster. I looked away fast, trying to hide it. I let out a small laugh and forced myself to stand straight. “Who says I’m into you? That’s ridiculous. I would never fall for someone like you,” I said, pushing him back slightly. “I’m just a bit under the weather. I have class now so I'll be leaving, Professor Grayson,” I added and walked out of his office. My phone rang in my pocket. I checked it and saw Avery calling. I had missed her calls from about ten minutes ago. I rushed back to the cafeteria. “Where have you been?” she asked as soon as I got there. “Sorting out a course I shouldn't have an F.” I said. She gave me a confused look. “What?” “It’s nothing. Come on, we’re going to be late for class,” I said and grabbed my bag. “We aren’t done with whatever has been bothering you. That also includes where you went to just now, Nick Walker,” she said. My mind drifted back to Enzo spanking me. I could still feel the spot he spanked me earlier. What is wrong with me? I buried my face in my hands, not believing what had happened between Enzo and me. “Hey, what’s wrong? Why is your ear so red?” Avery asked, cutting into my thoughts and I quickly shook my head. I started walking toward the lecture hall. “Nick Walker!” she called as she hurried to meet my pace. I kept walking, but my thoughts stayed on one thing. I am definitely going to put an end to whatever this feeling is.NICK WALKER ©I spotted Mum the moment I reached the front of the house.Had she been standing outside all this time?As I walked closer, she noticed me and came over.“Finally, you're back,” she said with a tired smile.I sighed and looked at her.“Why didn't you go inside?” I asked. She pressed her lips together and lowered her head.I walked into the house, then looked back to see her still standing there.“Aren't you coming in?” I asked her.I glanced at Mira, who was sitting beside Avery on the couch. The moment she heard me, she folded her arms and frowned.“Why is she coming in?” she asked.I dropped my bag and went to get Mum a glass of water.“Why would you leave her standing outside?” I asked them as I handed Mum the glass.“I'm fine. I just wanted to wait until I saw you,” Mum said as she looked over at Mira, having her sit.I sighed and rolled my eyes.“Why do you keep coming back?” I asked, looking at her.“Why did you leave in the first place? I looked at Nick as he slept peacefully on the couch. He had fallen asleep while sitting on my lap.I gently brushed the stains from his clothes as he snuggled into my touch. I tucked the hair away from his forehead and placed a soft kiss there. Then I stood up and went back to work. I still had a lot to finish before I had to leave.Suddenly, a phone started ringing. It wasn't mine.I glanced around before walking over to Nick's bag.His phone lit up with "Avery" on the screen. As I picked it up, I noticed he had a long list of missed calls and messages.I was about to put it back when I accidentally answered the call.“Finally! What on earth have you been doing with Grayson?” she asked. My eyes immediately shifted toward the door.Has she seen us?Wasn't the door closed?“You left hours ago, and you haven't answered any of my calls,” she said while I stayed quiet.“I know you're with Grayson right now

NICK WALKER ©This morning felt different from my usual routine. Most mornings, Mira would always wake me up with endless questions, especially about what we were going to eat.“What do you want to eat today?” I asked as I packed my books into my bag while we got ready for school.“I'm not hungry,” she replied, and I let out a quiet sigh.“You need to eat something before school,” I told her, but she stayed silent.I reached out to her, but she pulled away and picked up her bag.“You should talk to me,” I said with a sigh.“Mira.”“Mira, would you please listen?”She slowly sat on the floor, her face filled with sadness.“I don't want her. I don't want her to be part of this family.”I sat down on the floor across from her.“I never said that. I...” I began, but she cut me off.“I don't even want to meet her. Why did you bring her home?” she asked, her voice about to break down.I sighed and moved closer to her.“No matter what happened, she's still our mum. And it's okay if you don't

At least there would finally be someone else to look after her.I pulled Enzo's coat tighter around myself and fidgeted with my fingers.I used to think I'd have so many questions if I ever saw Mum again. But now that she was here, my mind was completely blank.Enzo pulled up in front of the house, and I stepped out. Mum got out too.I stared at the house she had left us behind years ago. I could see the light inside flickering through the window.I felt a hand on my back. I looked up at Enzo and forced a small smile.Mum let out a quiet sigh as she looked at the house.“Everything still looks the same,” she murmured. “Nothing has changed.”I let out a quiet scoff.“Enzo!” Mira shouted excitedly from the window before running out of the house. She rushed past Mum and me and threw her arms around him.
NICK WALKER ©Avery and I finished the exam for the day and walked out of the hall.“Argh! Finally! We're done with today's exam,” Avery said as we walked.“That was exhausting.” She stretched her arms with a groan.“Oh!” She suddenly stopped like she had remembered something.“I forgot to ask,” she whispered into my ear. “What happened to your lip, Nick Walker?”I quickly turned to look at her.“I... I bit my lip accidentally,” I said, and she rolled her eyes.“Liar,” she whispered before walking ahead.I sighed as I watched her.I knew she was definitely going to figure it out.“So, what's for lunch today?” she asked, slowing down so I could catch up with her.“I don't know...” I began, just then, a guy walked up to us interrupting me.“Hey, nerd,” he called.“Someone's outside asking for the famous Nick Walker.”He walked away before I could respond. The famous Nick Walker?I shook my head and walked outside with Avery.“I wonder who's looking for you,” Avery said while I thought a
