JADE'S POV:

The door was pushed open with force by my mother, I was by the window thinking about the cruel fate that awaits me.

“What are you doing there, you this unfilial daughter? You should be getting ready for your wedding and you are here shedding tears”. My mother glared at me with hatred as she pulled my hair roughly.

“Mother, why do you hate me so much? Selene was supposed to be the one to marry the Alpha, not me and now you want me to marry him?”. Tears dropped like rain droplets as I tried to get away from my mum's grip.

“You have the guts to question my decision? Don't you know that the Alpha rejected your sister and chose you?”. She questioned with gritted teeth.

I knew she was lying, the Alpha hasn't even met me even once, it was Selene he met at a restaurant.

Selene was excited to meet a handsome man, until she found out his true identity as the demon Alpha who is feared by everyone.

And by then, the Alpha has already marked her as his bride. Selene complained to our parents and they decided to sell me to Alpha instead.

“Mum, don't you think the Alpha will be furious when he finds out that I am a substitute bride?”. I questioned with fear. She slapped me hard on my left cheek.

“Are you planning to rebel? Look, if you open your filthy mouth to tell the Alpha that you are a substitute bride, I will make sure that I end your life myself”.

Just then Selene came in and she pretended to be sad about the way mother was treating me.

“Mother, please let Jade go”. She removed my mothers hands that were gripping my hair tightly.

“Mother, it's all my fault. Please don't be hard on big sis please”. Selene pleaded with fake tears on her eyes.

When we were little I always believed every single word that Selene said, but now, no matter what she said, I will never believe it.

“Don't cry on behalf of this unfilial child, she wants to ruin our family”. My mother yelled out again at me and was also about to slap me again but my father came in and stopped her.

“Janga, what are you doing? Do you want the demon lord to see a scar on his bride's body? And you, why are you not ready yet huh? The demon Lord will be here at any time and you are yet to prepare”.

“Father let me talk to big sis. Sis, can't you do this favor for me? Remember when we were little, I always protected you and took blames for you. Look at the scar on my wrist, it was because of trying to save you, that's why I got this scar and now you don't even want to be my substitute?”.

If it were in the past, I would have believed Selene, I have learnt a big lesson from Selene. She is like a cunning snake in the shadows, never to be underestimated.

“Why are you even begging her? Get her prepared immediately and make sure you cover her face with a veil”. My mother left and my father followed behind her.

Selene's facial expression changed immediately after they left. She smirked at me.

“Sis, you better get ready and get married to the demon Alpha, as you know, I have a fiance already and I can't marry anyone else”.

The fiance she was talking about was Bruno. He dated me in college until Selene set me up and he broke up with me.

After graduation, he proposed to Selene.

“And what if I don't follow your orders? Or even tell the demon Alpha that I am a substitute bride?”. I asked and she glared at me.

“You wouldn't dare Jade. I will make your life a living hell if you dare”. She held my hair so tightly and pushed me towards the bed and in the process I hit my head on the wall.

I felt dizzy for a while and couldn't move.

She pulled me out of the bed and sat me down on a makeup chair.

“You can now come in”. I didn't know whom she was talking to until I saw three ladies enter my room.

“Jade, you better cooperate with them so that your makeup can be done, if not I will leave mum and Dad to deal with you”. She left after she handed the makeup box to the strange girls.

The girls weren't gentle at all, they handled my face so roughly while smiling at my pain.

I was really hurt, not by the girls but by how my own family treated me. Ever since I was little, I was treated like a total stranger.

Selene would go to school early with my Dad's car while I will be struggling to do the house chores before going to school on foot.

“Hey! keep this head of yours at a place. You better don't offend us if not we will design your face so horribly that you won't even recognize yourself in the mirror”. One of the girls that was making me up yelled at me.

“Miss Selene said we should not make her look beautiful but ugly, so that's exactly what I am going to do”. Three of them laughed at me sarcastically.

Few minutes later, they were done with the makeup. I closed my eyes till they were done, I didn't bother to look at myself in the mirror because if they have made me ugly, then the Alpha won't accept me.

“Won't you even look at yourself in the mirror?”. One of the girls asked.

“No need”. I simply answered and stepped aside for me to wear the wedding gown.

The wedding gown was torn. It wasn't white but brown, I even saw a stain on it. I smirked because this would make the demon Alpha to be irritated by me and eventually he would reject me.

The door was pulled open as I was putting on the gown. My mother and Selene got in.

“Are you not done yet? The demon Alpha is here, hurry up immediately and dress her up”. My mum sounded so urgent.

My heart skipped a bit as she said the demon Alpha was here. I felt like running away and leaving this horrible life behind but where will I run to?

My mother never allowed me to make any friends even in school. She made everyone to be afraid of me.

The three girls wore me the clothes immediately and covered my face with a vein and carried me downstairs.

Each step I take made my heart beat irregularly. I was so afraid. I wondered the kind of ill treatment I will get from this demon Alpha. Goddess please come to my rescue, I prayed silently until I was standing face to face with the demon Lord.

It can't be opened”. My wolf answered."Were you able to break the barrier to get in?”. I asked her."Yes, but I am not sure that you can get in yourself”. "What do you suggest that I do now?”. "Come and give it a try and see if you can open the door because I think they have been giving poison as well”. “That Pearl has gone too far. My son asked, expecting me to praise him.“You are an amazing actor my son. You managed to make her believe that you are on her side and you care about her". “Yes, I wanted to make you proud of me". “Son, I am sorry that I am involving you in this dangerous game. Manuel said as she held Pearl's hands.“Manuel, what's wrong with you? You are behaving strangely and can you even see the time? I told you to always sleep early".
