Kira’s POV

"It will work," the witch said, her voice soft but firm, fingers tracing lazy circles across the surface of a black obsidian bowl. "But you'll have to choose which of the boys to get first."

I stiffened.

"What?" My voice was sharp, but I kept it level. Controlled.

She didn’t flinch.

Her pale eyes lifted to meet mine, ancient and far too calm for what she’d just said. She was old, older than anyone in the room by centuries, draped in layers of dark fabric that smelled of earth and smoke. Her skin was lined, her magic heavier than most I’d ever felt. A rogue bloodline caster. Unbound. Dangerous.

And right now, the only hope I had.

"Why can't it work on both?" I asked, voice cool, lips tight. My power simmered low in my chest, just beneath me.

She smiled. “Because they’re not in the same place.”

Ashton stood beside me, tense, arms folded, jaw clenched. He didn’t speak, but his energy crackled around us.

The witch continued, dipping her fingers into the edge of the silver liqu

  • The Betrayed Luna Strikes Back!   Chapter 149: Nicholas's Cruel End

Kira’s POVI moved faster than thought, my feet barely touching the ground as I tore through the hallway. The scent of burnt ash, dried blood, and twisted magic clung to every wall, but beneath it all, faint, stubborn, and pulsing like a heartbeat, was him.William.My son.His scent was sharper now, stronger than the clone we’d seen, laced with fear and fury. And then came the sound, low, raw, and primal. A growl. Fierce. Defiant. That wasn’t pain.It was a challenge. He was fighting back.My little wolf was still trying to claw his way out of hell.I rounded the final corridor, Ashton hot on my trail, and skidded to a stop before a towering blackened door laced with iron vines and warding runes. My breath caught as I pressed a palm against it, my body glowed faintly and the door trembled beneath my touch. Behind it… the magic churned like a storm. He felt me.William felt me.“I’m here, baby,” I whispered, my voice already cracking with fury. “I’m coming.”“Stand back,” Ashton mutte

Kira’s POVThe first thing I felt was the heat. Not warmth, heat. A crawling, pulsing kind that wrapped around your lungs and dragged poison through every breath you took. The air in Nicolas’s domain reeked of blood and burning fur, of sulfur and bone dust, of every soul that had ever died screaming here.We stepped forward. The obsidian corridor groaned beneath our feet like it was alive. Runes pulsed dimly along the walls, wards carved in blood and bound with soul magic. Strong ones. Old ones. The kind that fed off pain.Ashton kept close behind me, blades already drawn, his energy focused and deadly calm. “This place was built for torture,” he muttered. “It’s a fortress of agony.”I didn’t respond.I didn’t need to.The fury inside me was thick enough to drown in.I could feel William. His signature was flickering but it was there. Tethered to the pit of my soul. That was all I needed.A screech echoed down the corridor, sharp and sudden. Then silence.Then... sniff sniff.A wet gr

Kira’s POV"Mommy."Her voice was soft, trembling, but it yanked me out of sleep immediately. The knock that followed was hesitant, but I knew that sound. That was not a tantrum. That was fear.I untangled myself from Ashton’s arm with a quiet curse, his warmth still wrapped around my back. “Dress up,” I said quickly, already sliding off the bed and grabbing my robe. “Trisha’s by the door.”He sat up groggily, rubbing his eyes. “What time is it?”“Late,” I muttered, already halfway across the room. “Too late for her to be up.”The second knock came as I reached the door, quieter than before, almost like she didn’t want to wake anyone else. That wasn’t like her. Trisha never knocked like that unless something was wrong.I opened the door fast. She stood there in her unicorn pajamas, hair messy, clinging to her favorite plush fox like it could protect her from the world. Her cheeks were streaked with tears, and her lip trembled as she looked up at me.“I had a nightmare,” she whispered.

Kira’s POV"I'm so sorry about what happened two weeks ago."Alex’s voice was cautious, his body posture even more so, shoulders slightly hunched, eyes flicking between me and the hallway like he expected Trisha to leap out at any moment with a sharpened crayon and a grudge. He has an encounter with her already.I didn't blame him.But still... I just waved him off with a casual smile."It's okay. I couldn't handle booze, so that's not your fault," I said lightly, but my tone dipped a little sharper as I added, “Just…”I paused and drew in a calm breath. Because if I didn’t calm down, I was going to punch him in the throat and feed him to my beasts and I really didn’t have the time to clean up blood today.“Just don’t ever try to kiss me again,” I finished flatly. “Even if you’re drunk. Especially if you’re drunk. Got it?”He nodded quickly, but I wasn’t done.“And beware of Trisha,” I added with a grin. “She might actually kill you. She thinks you hurt me. Called you ‘the other bad m

Kira’s POV"Mommy, wake up!"Trisha’s voice rang in my ears, high and urgent, followed by the rapid thumping of her tiny hands shaking me like she was trying to restart a dead engine.I groaned, my head splitting in two as I rolled slightly, only to hiss and bury my face in the pillow. The world was spinning. My throat felt like I’d swallowed a flame. And my brain? A battlefield between memory and regret."Let Mommy sleep more, darling," Ashton’s voice cut in, low and too damn calm for the chaos in my head. “She’ll be awake soon.”“No! She promised to take me riding today! She promised!”Ashton chuckled softly. “She probably didn’t expect to drink four bottles of wine last night.”Make that five, I wanted to grumble but even my thoughts slurred.Wolfroot. Ugh. My entire body felt like it had been hit by a magical train and then thrown into a burning lake. Goddess, what the hell was in that stuff? Then it hit me.Last night. The wine. The fire. The kiss...Alex.I sat up so fast I near

  • The Betrayed Luna Strikes Back!   Chapter 143: What Mattered.

ASHTON’S POV"How dare you touch my woman?!"My voice tore through the room, shaking the damn walls as Alex staggered back. His smug face was gone. Good. The bastard looked exactly how I wanted him to, terrified. My claws pushed through my fingers, bones cracking, muscles stretching beneath my skin as my wolf surged forward, begging to be let loose. And I was this close to letting him.I’d never trusted him.Not once. That quiet charm, the lazy smiles, the fake respect, he’d been waiting for a moment like this. And now… he kissed my mate. My fated mate. My woman.“Ash…” Kira’s voice broke through the fury clouding my mind.I turned to her sharply. She looked pale. Disoriented. Her lips were parted like she couldn’t catch her breath, eyes barely holding focus. Her body swayed slightly like the ground was shifting under her.Realization slammed into me.She was drunk. No, more than drunk. She was wasted. But that didn’t make sense. Her Lycan blood made it nearly impossible. What the hel

  • The Betrayed Luna Strikes Back!   Chapter 142: Restless & Drunk.

Kira’s POV“Why is it so damn hard to get drunk?” I yelled at no one in particular, tossing the empty glass across the study table. It clinked off a stack of files and rolled uselessly onto the floor like it too had given up on life.Of course, no one answered.Because no one was here.Ashton had left a few minutes ago for a night hunt with some of the elite guards. Said it was routine. Said he’d be back by morning. Said I needed rest.He really needed to stop saying shit like that.Trisha was with Alex, supposedly finishing her lesson but I checked the monitor a few minutes ago and Bella had already taken her to bed, said she fell asleep mid-pronunciation drill with a crayon still stuck behind her ear. Typical. And now?Now I was stuck in this oversized estate, with no one to kill, no one to yell at, no Ashton to annoy and no daughter to spoil.Just me. And my very frustrating inability to get even the slightest buzz off four bottles of liquor.I slammed the fifth bottle down on the

Kira’s POV"Wrong information, madam. I'm sorry for bringing you out here because of the fake lead." Jonas bowed deeply, guilt written all over his face.I waved it off lazily, my expression calm but my heart anything but.“It’s alright, Jonas. Call Ashton. Let’s head back home,” I said with a small smile that didn’t reach my eyes. “We’ll get those two soon. I can feel it in my blood. Tell the men to retreat.”He nodded quickly, grateful, and disappeared into the corridor with urgency. But I didn’t move.I stood perfectly still, in the middle of the grand hall of the old mansion we’d just torn apart with runes, spells, and steel. The place reeked of age and dust, but beneath all that... I caught it. Faint. Subtle. Familiar. And enraging. They were here. Not long ago either.Jonas thinks it was a bad lead. He thinks it was a waste of time. But he’s wrong. Nicolas was here and he had one of my sons with him.I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply.Yes.There it was.The faintest edge of my
