chapter 6

I walked to where Drew parked his car and got in, I could tell he was watching me intently from the corners of my eyes. I buckled my seatbelt and without saying a word, he zoomed off.

‘’Where are we heading to?’’ I asked trying to get him to talk at least.

‘’Nicholas is having a house party and he wants me to bring you over as well, he has been wanting to see you ever since he heard you were around.’’ He answered swiftly.

I inhaled, the thought of going to see Nicholas wasn’t a bad idea and truth be said, I’ve missed him. He was to me everything a big brother could be. I thought about how he had always hidden snacks in my bag without anyone noticing, just so I would have enough to eat during lunch break in school and at home when I was hungry. He had always felt I wasn’t okay back then at home and had tried his best to make me confide in him about whatever it was I was passing through, but Drew had always been against me telling him anything about our family. He didn’t trust anyone with issues like that because at some point in life people would change, and he didn’t want anyone taunting me about what I passed through nor the news spreading around school.

Once Nicholas had caught Drew cuddling me to sleep in his room because I had a bad dream, he had punched Drew in the face because he felt he was trying to take advantage of me but little did he know Drew actually was my savior. He had left the house angrily and decided he was going to stop being friends with Drew not until I met him in school the next day to explain to him that Drew would never do a thing like that and he was only protecting me. At some point, I felt Nicholas had feelings for me which he was suppressing probably because he knew Drew would never permit such. On the other hand, I saw him as my big brother and a friend I would run to whenever Drew wasn’t there, but it hurt me when they both left without warning and without considering how I felt. I was more hurt by Drew who knew exactly what would happen to me if he left home but still did anyways. Nicholas knew nothing about what I suffered in the hands of my step father, even though he knew I wasn’t fond of him and Drew always got in trouble with our father because of me, he still didn’t know exactly what goes on behind closed doors because Mark was good at pretending and portraying to be a good father to us when there was a visitor at home or a third party.

I was lost in thought that I didn’t realize Drew had stopped the car and was unbuckling his seatbelt, I quickly did the same and got out of the car. The house in front of us was very beautiful, I walked closely behind Drew into the house. The interior of the house was much more beautiful and classy, perfect modern house I guess.

‘’Alexa, come here!’’ I heard someone scream from the hallway, I turned around and it was Nicholas. I smiled and made my way to where he was standing with two ladies wearing aprons by his side jotting down things on a piece of paper, I guess they must be the waitress for the night. Nothing much has changed much about his looks, he still had his jet black hair, toned skinned, broad shoulders and killer smile which was his signature look.  As soon as I got close to him, he dismissed the ladies and engulfed me a big bear hug.

‘’Alexa darling, how have you been? How is everything going, work, school and family?’’ he bombarded me with several questions at once.

‘’All is well.  I’m doing alright as well. How are you too?’’ I answered back smiling and hugging him back.

‘’I’m doing fine my darling. I was so excited when Drew told me you will be staying with him for a while, I’ve missed you so much you know.’’ He said giving me a puppy face and laughing afterwards.

‘’I’ve missed you too so much.’’ I replied back in between laughs.

‘’Alright, we have a lot of catching up to do, for now make yourself comfortable and enjoy the party.’’ He said before placing small kisses on my face.

I giggled, going back to the large living room. Typical Nicholas, always full of life and happy, he never misses a chance to call someone by a pet name. Sometimes I can’t help but wonder how he’s still friends with Drew who seems to have become the direct opposite of him.

I found an empty spot by the window and took a seat, from where I sat, I could see how beautifully decorated the dining area was, there were fancy lights and flowers tied around the table and several mouthwatering dishes on the table. I grabbed a glass and poured myself some vodka mixing it with water to quench its burning taste. The living room was getting filled up already, I checked the time and it was 8pm on the dot. The lights went dim and it was announced that the party has just began.

Music filled the air and there were cheers as peoples began dancing with one another and having fun. I sighted Drew and Nicholas standing by a corner in the dining room each holding a glass of champagne and discussing, I noticed a blonde on very high heels whom I immediately recognized to be Melissa approaching them and giving each of them a hug before going to stand very close to Drew and resting her hands on his shoulder.

Anger filled my whole body but it took everything in me not to walk up to them and cause any trouble. Drew’s eyes were on me all these while, watching my every move but paying attention to the conversation he was having with his best friend. Soon it was time for Nicholas to make the toast, he beckoned on Drew to also stand close to him as he couldn’t have achieved all of these without his help as well. As soon as the toast was over and the party was back to normal, I decided to talk a walk outside for fresh air. I got up from my seat with my drink and purse in hand, but just then Melissa approached me.

‘’Hi Alexa.’’ She greeted stretching her hand forward for a handshake.

I completely ignored her and walked outside, I wasn’t in any mood for her malarkey this evening.

‘’Are you always this mean?’’ she asked following me outside. At this point, I just wanted to get her out of my sight so I don’t create a scene here.

‘’Are you that dumb not to know when you’re not liked or wanted?’’ I replied her back turning to face her swiftly.

‘’Oh! I see, I mean no harm though, was just trying to start up a conversation with you. You don’t have to be so rude girl.’’ She said rolling her eyes

‘’There is absolutely no point speaking with me.’’ I retorted back

‘’Oh dear, get used to it because you will be seeing more of this.’’ She whispered slowly before turning her back to leave.

‘’Not for long bitch, I promise you.’’ I answered back loud enough for her to hear before walking in.

I just needed to be alone to at least think for once since today, I walked to the back of the house where the pool was with a mini waterfall. I sat very close to it as I reminiscence all of the events that took place in the early hours of today. I thought about how I had touched myself wishing it was Drew and how he had eventually come to my room to pleasure me. everything seemed like a dream at first, I had no idea he was going to barge into my room like he did and set my whole body on fire. He seems to understand my whole body maybe even better than I do, I don’t know where all these will lead to but I’m willing to give it a shot.

I sat down there staring in space and lost in thought, I didn’t realize it was late until I checked my phone and it read 10:15pm. It was getting too cold to sit outside, I stood up from the ground, swallowed the drink I had left in my cup and walked back into the house.
