Saskia’s eyes were locked on mine.

“What is he talking about, Bran?” she asked again, her voice softer this time.

I bent down slowly and picked up the fallen bags, handing them back to her.

“Go inside,” I told her quietly.

Her fingers tightened around the paper handles. “Not until you answer me.”

I exhaled slowly through my nose. “They are just rumors.”
