AEON. "I’m sure you can. But I need Katarina… I need her so I can save Alexa." I told him. I wanted to tell him everything, to take a bit of my burden off my chest, so I could breathe. Lucas and I were friends. We were not attached to our hips like Jacob and I were before the Clair Claiming fiasco happened. But I knew Lucas valued whatever we had and I knew him to be a good man. She looked like a cat caught by big wolves. And if this lasted longer, I could guarantee she would cry soon. "Relax. No one is mad at you." I chuckled before I brought the whisky glass to my lips, sipping it gently before shifting my eyes to Darvin. "What are you planning to do, Kay?" Darvin asked her, and her gaze dropped to the floor, hands fidgeting with each other. "I don’t know. I was just waiting for the heavens to fall on me." "I want to hear from you if you would prefer to have Lucas claim you and not Aeon." "Are you seriously asking me that? Now? In front of Alpha Aeon?" My brows raised. I already knew the answer, and I wondered why Darvin needed to torture his sister. "This is something serious. AEON. As much as I wanted to stay the night with Alexa, I knew my father must be waiting for updates about the attack. I was left with no choice but to return to the pack house immediately. But I promised her I would try my best to take her to Riley’s pack - not just because she wanted to be there but because I had to spend days in Riley’s pack for the game plan that we had to come up with to counter Achilles’ attack. And leaving her here while I was away for a few days would be torture, not just because I would miss her, but more because I would be thinking about her safety. That’s just what I wanted to get from her reaction. This was the reason I kept everything from her because even if my father couldn’t read her mind, he would be able to sense her emotions. He went out of the territory, and I thought I had time to leave before they could come home and just let Krane explain to him. LADY KATARINA. "What are friends for? It’s a pleasure to help, Alpha Aeon. As long as we all get out of this alive, then I’m in." I told Aeon this in full honesty. After meeting Alexa, I asked Nadia about her, and she didn’t hide anything about what she knew. And although I didn’t know Alexa personally, my heart broke for her. I felt guilty for being a threat to her happiness. So I was willing to make up for it. I came here to speak with Aeon, and I wanted to ask him if we could let Alexa know I wasn’t a threat. That I meant no harm to her and their mate bond. But before I could say any of those, something hit my nose. It was intoxicating. Addicting, I might say. I knew my stomach rumbled earlier, a signal that I was hungry already, but this smell I was smelling was making me hungry for something else. I was about to tell Aeon that his cologne smelled so good until I realized it wasn’t coming off his body. And then I heard another heartbeat. Someone was in the room with us.
