As much as I wanted to stay the night with Alexa, I knew my father must be waiting for updates about the attack. I was left with no choice but to return to the pack house immediately. But I promised her I would try my best to take her to Riley’s pack - not just because she wanted to be there but because I had to spend days in Riley’s pack for the game plan that we had to come up with to counter Achilles’ attack.

And leaving her here while I was away for a few days would be torture, not just because I would miss her, but more because I would be thinking about her safety.

The pack house was already quiet, but there were still lights illuminating some of the rooms. Some of the warriors were probably hanging out until it was their turn to do the patrol. But I didn’t check. Instead, my feet went ahead to my father’s office, and his lights were still on. I was summoned to come even before I had the chance to knock.

"You arrived thirty minutes ago. Where have you been?"
