"Come on Rora you won't even spend up to an hour, just to say hello and keep me company" he kept pleading till she accepted.
They parted ways when they got to a junction, Aurora bid him goodbye and walked towards their house.
She got to their house and met her mother sampling her fruit on the little table in front of their house.
She collected the basket of fruit from her and started setting it. "Go in and rest for a while mama, I'll stay here for you till evening," she said and her mother thanked her before going into the house to rest.
Aurora finished setting the fruits and sat under the shade looking across the street to see a man sharing food to some kids. She sighed and shook her head on seeing the kids struggle to get hold of a plastic bag.
She could remember the time when she used to come to areas like this with her father when he was still alive.
They would share food and money to the less privileged and never had she thought she would one day live here and feed on picking people's pockets.
She stayed in her mother's shade selling the fruits to kids and women who would occasionally come to buy one thing or the other.

It's evening and she's on her way to Craig's workplace. She walked down the street and crossed the room then took the part that led to the coffee shop.
She saw the wine bar Craig was talking about. It was beautiful and newly built. She doesn't want to go spoil her mood by going there because she knew she could never get the job.
It's either they are no longer hiring staff or they would collect her number and promise to call her back.
She would end up waiting the entire week and month without receiving any call from them and when she returns, they tell her she came late or isn't qualified for the job.
She sighed and looked away from the new bar and walked down further till she got to Craig's workplace. She pushed open the door and walked into the coffee shop, her eyes roaming about the shop.
She checked out the people in the shop and tried to know if there was anyone who kept their thing carelessly but it seems every one of them was careful not to drop their bag on the table.
"Hey Rora, over here" Craig called waving at her and she smiled a little before moving to him.
"I didn't know you would come," he said smiling widely and pouring out coffee for a customer.
"Yeah I did come, I didn't want you to cry," Aurora said sarcastically, her eyes still surveying the shop which was filled with people.
"Do you need help?" She asked Craig. Perhaps she could start from serving and from there check out the customers well to see if she could get anything.
"Yeah, that couple over there" Craig pointed and Aurora nodded staring at the couple who were busy playing romance and not paying attention.
The lady's bag was on the table while she bent over the man whispering to his ear and laughing out.
"Okay, I'll do that" Aurora muttered and took the tray, swiftly headed to the table. "Your coffee ma'am," she said and the woman waved at her to drop it but continued talking into her partner's ear less concerned.
Aurora bent slightly and dropped the coffee then looked around to see everyone was focused on their business then she swiftly dipped her hand into the lady's bag, collected her wallet, hid it In her pant pocket then straightened up and walked back to the counter to meet the glaring eyes of Craig.
"I saw that Aurora, do you have to do that in my working place?" Craig whispered glaring at her. "You don't expect me not to, I need to eat and that lady doesn't need it, she looked rich" Aurora muttered and Craig frowned.
He understands she needed to eat and provide for her family but stealing isn't the only option. He had tried to talk her out from it but she would never listen to him and would always say she needed the money more than the owner.
"What if you get caught, Rora?" You never can tell, someone might be looking at you while you do that" He said deepening his frown.
"What do you take me for?" A kid? Come on I'm so smart at what I do so don't drag it, sign out and let's get out of here" Aurora muttered shooting him a stare.
Craig checked his wristwatch and seeing it was already his off time, he nodded and walked in to sign out.
He returned and they both walked out of the coffee shop and headed home. They got to the new wine bar and Craig dragged Aurora to a stop.
"Come on let's just try this one Aurora, you never can tell and they might just pick you. I really don't like the fact that you pickpockets, it annoys me" Craig said and Aurora scoffed but still followed him in anyways.
They got into the wine bar which was really beautiful and doesn't look like what was seen in the slums. The decor was beautiful and the tables and chairs were arranged neatly.
"Hey please can we talk to you?" Craig asked a girl who wore an apron, obviously a waiter.
"Yeah, what do you want?" She asked looking in a hurry to serve other customers.
"We want to know if there's any vacancy here," said Craig and the girl simply pointed at the counter and hastily walked out on them.
"Bruh, I don't like this, can't we just get out of here and forget about this work thing, I know it would still be the old talk"Aurora muttered in annoyance.
"No we ain't leaving Rora, we would try it out first before concluding, we are already in so let's go over to the counter the girl pointed at," Craig said tugging at her hands and pulling her towards the counter.
"Yes, how may I help you both?" a plus-size woman on huge glasses behind the counter asked peering at them from under her glasses."We came to enquire if this bar still hires workers," Craig said and the woman gave them a long stare before clearing her throat."Who among you is looking for the job?," she asked and Craig pointed at the less concerned Aurora who was busy scrutinizing the bar and looking for a target."Aurora focus" Craig tugged at her sleeve bringing her back to her senses. She blinked and stared at Craig who glare at her."Can you focus and tell her you're the one looking for the job and stop being silly" he whispered under his breath and Aurora nodded before turning to the woman and giving out one of her fake smiles.Ever since her father died, she had seized from smiling and only smiled whenever she was with her family or her best fri
The guy he was gawking at had raised his heads and stared at them when she said those words.Craig felt like running out of the bar in embarrassment. "Rora!! I'll revenge" he whispered in her face. The lady at the counter saw them and frowned. "Hey there, are you here for the job or to play with your lover?" The woman called out to Aurora who looked at Craig to see him pouting."Haaaa!!!! What kind of thing is this? First I'm trying to act cute for that guy and you interrupted me and then this lady thinks we are lovers. Damn me and you, lovers? Wtf!!!" Craig cried out in frustration."Why would she think of such a thing? A sissy like me lover to Aurora the bully? No, she must be joking" Craig whinned."Do I blame her? You look cute whinning so I think she must have thought you're my boy" Aurora laughed and turned around heading to the counter."Yeah I think s
"Uhhh?" Craig looked dumfounded. "You know how much I hate doing dishes Rora especially washing pots""I see you aren't ready yet, I'm going then" Aurora said and began walking away."No no... I will do the dishes, I will make sure the pots are sparkling Don't do this to me Rora" Craig ran after her.Aurora gave a lposided smile and winked. "Good, that's why you're my boy" she replied and Craig frowned but quickly shrugged it off.As long as she does what she promised then he could be her boy for now and do anything she wants him to do.He can't afford to lose that cute dude."I still can't believe I got a job and I'll be resuming tomorrow" Aurora muttered with a small smile."I told you, You just have to keep pushing till you get what you want" Craig said and Aurora chuckled."You just have to push till you get what
Next Day...Waking up to remember she was meant to start work today, Aurora sprang up and took her toiletries, and ran down from her room to the bathroom they use which was outside the house. She quickly took a bucket and ran to the little water wall at the back of their house and fetched water before rushing back to take her bath. She rummage through her bag which contained a few clothes that are worn out, looking for a suitable one to wear on her first day of work. After searching for a while and about to give up, she finally stumbled upon jeans that were faded a bit and a black polo that was quite bigger than her size. She dried her body and applied her body butter. It was cheap but she doesn't mind, her skin was great and she doesn't need so much to care for it.Putting on the cloth, she folded the hem of the polo and tied it,
They got into the cafeteria and Aurora ordered a burger and juice while Jenny ordered hers."Let's go sit over there" Jenny pointed to a free table and Aurora nodded following her over to the table. She settled down on the plastic chair and uncorked her mineral, taking a bite from the burger, she closed her eyes to relish the heavenly taste."Are you going to be okay with just that or would you mind joining in my pasta?" Jenny asked pointing at her plate of pasta which aroma was wafting through Aurora's nose.Pasta has been her favorite meal ever since she was a kid but she needed to save so she had long stopped buying food other than snacks and juices from outside and she's not a person who would share food with someone especially when she isn't yet familiar with the person. She looked down to the pasta which was calling on her to devour, swallo
They got to the school and Aurora sighted her sister standing with a boy who looks younger than her and smaller."Maya" she called the attention of her little sister who turned alongside the boy she was sitting with."Oh, that's your sister? She's so beautiful and the boy is my kid brother" Jenny said getting more happier.Rora's sister knows her brother and they seemed to be friends too."Ooh..." Aurora drawled waiting for the kids to get to them."Big sister" Maya squealed hugging her sister tightly as she got to her, Aurora carried her up and spun her around further increasing the girl's happy giggles.Jenny stares on, her eyes widening as she stares at her colleague. She never knew Aurora could be a playful type and she even smiled. Her smiles are so beautiful and she wonders why she acts
Aurora got to her room and banged the door before Craig could enter."Really Rora?" Craig muttered from outside the door rubbing his head where the door had hit him."Yes, go away since you are not ready to stop talking about useless things, you might as well go home and sleep or get yourself a wolf if you so badly want one" Aurora yelled going towards her bed to lay down. She was exhausted and doesn't need any more disturbances. Big Mandy had already caused her a lot of stress and right now she only needed a long deep sleep.Hours later, Aurora climbed down the stairs after sleeping for hours to see Craig still around. She shoot up her brows and walked towards him as he lay on the only couch in their sitting room operating his phone."You are still around Craig? Aren't you going to work today?" She asked sitting down on the
"Sit here and wait for me, Do not wander off cos I won't look for you, I will be quick" Aurora suddenly muttered hastily moving forward without waiting for him to reply.Craig sighed and nodded then sat on a pavement praying for her not to get caught. He doesn't still understand why she still had to do this when she had gotten a job."I hope you achieve your desires so you could drop this bad attitude of yours, Rora, if only you would listen to me and accept who you really are, I'm sure everything will turn out good for you" He muttered to himself, his eyes searching around for where she could be.Finally sighting her walking behind a man on a leather jacket, he sighed knowing she was about to take out his wallet. He didn't see her do it but he knew she had taken it out because she had moved away from him as swiftly as she came.He waited for her
