“How could you…” she thundered, standing in front of me, her hand raised to strike.

Before it could land, I caught her wrist midair. I rose slowly to my feet, my grip tightening just enough to stop her.

“Don’t you dare.” My voice came out low, but cold enough to freeze the moment.

Her eyes widened, disbelief flashing across her face. “Really?”

Without another word, I shoved her hand away. She staggered backward, losing her balance before collapsing into the chair Derek had occupied earlier.

Just then, the door creaked open and Trisha stepped in.“Ma’am, Mrs. Sinclair requests your presence in her office,” she announced.I swallowed, turning briefly to Derek as I rose to my feet.“I suppose she has some work for me,” I said, forcing a light smile, hoping he would take the hint and leave.Instead, a pleased smile curved his lips.“Good timing, I have something to discuss with her as well. We can go together.”Before I could protest, he reached for my hand, helping me up.“Thank you… I’m fine,” I muttered, subtly pulling away. He released me immediately.Trisha’s jaw tightened, her expression stiff, but Derek didn’t seem to notice.“Ladies first,” he gestured.I exhaled quietly and stepped out, feeling his presence close behind me.I walked ahead with forced confidence, pretending I knew exactly where I was going… when I didn’t.Trisha should have been leading, but she didn't.My gaze landed on an elevator, and I moved toward it instinctively.“Where are you going?” Derek a

She staggered backward, losing her balance before collapsing into the chair Derek had occupied earlier. For a second, she simply stared at me, stunned. Then her lips curled into a slow, dangerous smirk.“You really want me to expose you?” she threatened. My jaw tightened, but I said nothing. Instead, I picked up the file and my cracked phone, sliding it into my bag, deliberately ignoring her.“Fine,” Trisha continued, her tone sharp with mock concession. “Keep the phone. I’ll just pretend I didn’t notice the way you were looking at Derek.”I stilled.“I know you like him,” she added, leaning back wit

Liora’s POV“What exactly do you mean?” I asked, but she ignored me and slid a brand-new, latest-model phone onto the table.“Your mother asked me to give this to you,” she said flatly.I reached for it, but her voice stopped me mid-motion.“Don’t even dare. From now on, the phone belongs to me,” she added. My eyes widened in disbelief. Instinctively, I snatched it back, earning a low, wicked chuckle from her.“You don’t know me, do you?” she asked, a sly smile curling on her lips.“And you don’t know who I am, or what I’m capable of,” I warned.Without hesitation, she lifted her own phone and pressed play.My voice filled the air; a recording of my entire conversation with Lucien.“You recorded that?” I muttered, my throat tightening.“Yes,” she replied calmly. “And I can’t wait to post it. It’ll go viral, the heiress, daughter of Mrs. Sinclair, head of the world’s most powerful empire… the same woman who publicly declared her daughter would never divorce her husband… that she would

“No…” I muttered under my breath, rising to my feet a little too quickly. My mind raced, searching for something… anything to cover what she had just overheard.“It’s… it’s a friend of mine,” I said quickly, forcing my voice to steady. “She meant she’ll take care of my goddaughter.”There was a brief pause as I swallowed hard.“Yes… that’s it.” I forced a small, shaky smile, hoping she wouldn’t question further.“Ohh…” she exhaled slowly, relief softening her face. “Alright then.”Her expression relaxed, completely convinced. For a second, I almost believed my own lie. Then I exhaled and turned back toward her, trying to regain control of the moment.“Mum, you aren’t asleep?” I asked gently, steering the conversation away from dangerous ground.“I couldn’t sleep,” she replied softly, her eyes warm as they rested on me. “I kept thinking about whether my princess had rested well.”Her gaze softened further, and suddenly, her eyes narrowed playfully.“And…” she tilted her head slightly.

My car door opened, and a young woman in her twenties stepped forward.“Welcome home,” she greeted respectfully, bowing her head slightly.“Home?” I murmured, almost to myself. Is this really happening?A faint smile formed on my lips as I met her gaze again. “Thank you.”“I’m Trisha, your personal assistant. Nice to meet you, please come in,” the woman said.“Same here,” I responded, nodding and followed her inside. The interior of the building was nothing short of breathtaking; an exquisite blend of modern sophistication and timeless luxury. Crystal chandeliers cascaded from the high ceilings like frozen waterfalls, scattering soft light across polished marble floors that reflected every step like glass. The air itself carried a subtle fragrance of elegance, something floral and expensive, wrapping around me like a silent welcome.Trisha guided me through the vast expanse with practiced ease, her heels clicking softly against the floor. We passed sweeping staircases with intricately

Author's POV“No!!!” Lucien roared, collapsing to the floor and rolling in frustration like a child. “All my years of hard work…”The door creaked open as Elara stepped in.“What’s wrong? Is everything fine?” she asked.Lucien didn’t respond. Bitterness and shock consumed his expression. He struggled to his feet and staggered toward the door, but Elara blocked his path.“Answer me!” she demanded.Consumed by rage, he shoved her aside and ran out of the room. Elara fell hard to the ground, a sharp pain hitting her as she began to bleed.Lucien, still in his pajamas, rushed out and when he arrived at his company, his company logo had been replaced, now bearing the bright emblem of a charity organization, with unfamiliar faces occupying the space.Outside stood Anderson and Cooper, his assistant.“How could you, Lucien? How are we supposed to pay the loan?” Anderson yelled, his voice laced with fury. The loan Lucien had taken… had made the revenge effortless.“No!” Lucien exclaimed, his
