“No, it really can't be true,” I murmur, shaking my head as I take a few steps back.

“I am afraid that it is, and if you don't agree with it, you just have to meet him in court.” The stupid lawyer smugly says before rising to his feet and walking out.

I barely see him leave through the bounds of tears that pour out of my eyes.

How dare that bastard?

My eyes prickle as laughter bubbles out of my throat. I can't hold it in as I tumble over in laughter.

Is this how cruel he gets? Bankruptcy, emotional instability, and a criminal record.

I went bankrupt because he put my company in loans, I went to jail, all because of my stupid love that was blind, and he dared to use it against me.

Emotional instability? After everything they did to me, he dares to accuse me of that.

The more I think of it, the more I realise that Derrick never for one day cared about me.

All those years together were a lie; it was all fake. That bastard lied to me for years.
