It had taken me a while to figure out how to get into his rooms. Normally, he would leave at 4 am to go to the training field located about a mile away. I would follow him to observe his daily routine, but never get close enough for him to sense something was anything wrong or odd going on. I hadn’t seen him close, and I hoped never to get close. He was a monster of a man, this Alpha named Aziel, roughly 6 foot 5 inches, with muscles that looked like he could stop a truck. Golden brown hair was a mess on his head, it appeared to be thick and would be fun to run my fingers though. Wait, I didn’t mean that. But I never got close enough to see his face.

After picking the lock to get into his room, I pulled my wind down so I would be able to look more carefully without disrupting anything.

“Well, hello.” I froze. My heart started to hammer against my chest when I heard that soft silky voice. It’s a sound I could listen to for hours. What? No. I snapped myself out of it and slowly turned from the door. He was sitting on the end of his bed. His massive form turned towards me. I could see now his pale blue eyes, the strong nose that looked as if it had been broken and reset many times, and a pair of nice full lips. “I could sense you following me around, but whenever I would look, no one was there. So, I decided to perform a little test.”

He went to stand, and I put my hand on the doorknob, ready to quickly unlock it, shift, and bolt. I would get away and retry this again when his guard was back down.

“Now, I wouldn’t do that if I were you. You see, there’s about twenty of my finest pack warriors surrounding the house. You wouldn’t make it far even if you managed to slip passed me.” He stood to his full height and took one step towards me. I weighed my options as he made the move to take another step. Run and possibly get captured? Or stay here and try and trick this massive brute into telling me where the ring is located?

I chose the latter, standing my ground as he came to stand in front of me. I refused to look up from my 5 foot 6 inch height all the way up to him. I’m sure I looked like a toddler standing next to a middle schooler.

“What oddly colored hair, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen white hair before on someone who appears to be so young. Look at me.” His voice had softened slightly and I was almost tempted to do as he said, instead I just stared at his chest and waited for his next move.

“If you’re not going to look at me I’m going to have to make you. Do you really want that?” I continued to stare ahead, not bothering to answer him back. Slowly his hand touched my chin, and sparks exploded everywhere his hand touched my face. He gasped. I tried to pull away, but his grip tightened. With one push of his hand, he had me looking straight into those baby blue eyes. And it hit. And the one word I dreaded hearing from the moment he touched me was said: "Mate.”

My hazel eyes widened in fear and shock. What was the Goddess playing at? Making my soulmate, the missing piece of my soul, this giant of a man. Not just a giant of a man, but not a fox, a freaking wolf? What is she playing at? There’s no way this man could be the other half of me.

“No.” I stated with all the fear and hope I could handle.

“No? Little one, I don’t think you are I have a choice in this. We are mates. And you might as well get use to the idea now.” He softly told me, he could tell I was panicking, but looking into his eyes, I could see he had no idea why. He had no idea what I am. What his ancestors did to mine. All the pain and suffering wolves have caused.

As I looked into his eyes, the early morning sun rays illuminated something hanging around his neck. It glittered in the light. Looking down I saw a chain and on that chain was none other than the amethyst ring I had been sent for. Looking back up into his eyes, I did the one thing I could think of. I lifted my knee quickly and slammed it straight into that sensitive spot between his legs. He dropped like a rock into a stream. While he was busy nursing the family jewels with tears in his eyes, I quickly grabbed the necklace from around his neck, unlocked the door, and bolted.
