It had taken me a while to figure out how to get into his rooms. Normally, he would leave at 4 am to go to the training field located about a mile away. I would follow him to observe his daily routine, but never get close enough for him to sense something was anything wrong or odd going on. I hadn’t seen him close, and I hoped never to get close. He was a monster of a man, this Alpha named Aziel, roughly 6 foot 5 inches, with muscles that looked like he could stop a truck. Golden brown hair was a mess on his head, it appeared to be thick and would be fun to run my fingers though. Wait, I didn’t mean that. But I never got close enough to see his face.
After picking the lock to get into his room, I pulled my wind down so I would be able to look more carefully without disrupting anything.
“Well, hello.” I froze. My heart started to hammer against my chest when I heard that soft silky voice. It’s a sound I could listen to for hours. What? No. I snapped myself out of it and slowly turned from the door. He was sitting on the end of his bed. His massive form turned towards me. I could see now his pale blue eyes, the strong nose that looked as if it had been broken and reset many times, and a pair of nice full lips. “I could sense you following me around, but whenever I would look, no one was there. So, I decided to perform a little test.”
He went to stand, and I put my hand on the doorknob, ready to quickly unlock it, shift, and bolt. I would get away and retry this again when his guard was back down.
“Now, I wouldn’t do that if I were you. You see, there’s about twenty of my finest pack warriors surrounding the house. You wouldn’t make it far even if you managed to slip passed me.” He stood to his full height and took one step towards me. I weighed my options as he made the move to take another step. Run and possibly get captured? Or stay here and try and trick this massive brute into telling me where the ring is located?
I chose the latter, standing my ground as he came to stand in front of me. I refused to look up from my 5 foot 6 inch height all the way up to him. I’m sure I looked like a toddler standing next to a middle schooler.
“What oddly colored hair, I don’t believe I’ve ever seen white hair before on someone who appears to be so young. Look at me.” His voice had softened slightly and I was almost tempted to do as he said, instead I just stared at his chest and waited for his next move.
“If you’re not going to look at me I’m going to have to make you. Do you really want that?” I continued to stare ahead, not bothering to answer him back. Slowly his hand touched my chin, and sparks exploded everywhere his hand touched my face. He gasped. I tried to pull away, but his grip tightened. With one push of his hand, he had me looking straight into those baby blue eyes. And it hit. And the one word I dreaded hearing from the moment he touched me was said: "Mate.”
My hazel eyes widened in fear and shock. What was the Goddess playing at? Making my soulmate, the missing piece of my soul, this giant of a man. Not just a giant of a man, but not a fox, a freaking wolf? What is she playing at? There’s no way this man could be the other half of me.
“No.” I stated with all the fear and hope I could handle.
“No? Little one, I don’t think you are I have a choice in this. We are mates. And you might as well get use to the idea now.” He softly told me, he could tell I was panicking, but looking into his eyes, I could see he had no idea why. He had no idea what I am. What his ancestors did to mine. All the pain and suffering wolves have caused.
As I looked into his eyes, the early morning sun rays illuminated something hanging around his neck. It glittered in the light. Looking down I saw a chain and on that chain was none other than the amethyst ring I had been sent for. Looking back up into his eyes, I did the one thing I could think of. I lifted my knee quickly and slammed it straight into that sensitive spot between his legs. He dropped like a rock into a stream. While he was busy nursing the family jewels with tears in his eyes, I quickly grabbed the necklace from around his neck, unlocked the door, and bolted.
I pulled a current of wind around me as I ran out of the pack house, shifting as I took to the forest surrounding it. Vix shooting into the tangled underbrush. I laughed to myself as we ran and imagined the look of frustration, pain, and shock on that wanna-be Alpha Wolf Mates face.It was funny, but it’s going to make it hard for us to have Kits or Pups later on. Vix said in my head as she leapt over a downed log.Who said we’ll even accept this wanna-be macho Alpha as our Mate? It’s not like he came to us with roses and love. I scoffed back.Well, we did just steal from him and kick him in the family jewels. I could practically see her rolling her eyes.We need the ring. We didn’t come here to meet our mate, fall in love, and start a family. Also, he’s so cocky. We would never work, and you know it. No one controls us, and if what they say is true, that’s all those types want to do. I moved the current of air to cover our scent as I heard the howls and pounding paws in the backgroun
Upon waking I couldn’t move my arms. Looking around I noticed I was back in his bedroom, chained to his bed. Well, that’s not good. I yanked on the chains to see if they had any give, none. Who has a way to chain someone to their bed? You know what? I don’t want to know.Looking around the room, I noticed that it was mostly in black and mahogany. Very clean and overly tidy. I guess someone has a clean freak problem.Voices outside pulled my attention to the door.“So, you’re just going to keep her chained up?”“If she didn’t try to run, this wouldn’t be an issue. I can’t go chasing after my mate every five minutes and I need to know why she wants this old thing.”“This isn’t the way to start out a healthy relationship.”“I’m aware, but it’s the only way to get her to stay in one place for long enough. I’ll deal with the pack business later, Kade.” I could hear the door handle turning and pretended to still be asleep. “Now, none of that. I know you’re awake. We could hear you pulling o
I looked down at her. Now sleeping like an angel in human form. Her almost bleach white hair spread around her like a halo. With a heart shaped face, but not a fat one like the ones you get and give on the human Valentines Day, a rather fitting one for her face. Her hazel eyes had staired at me with so much contempt. Her solid smooth nose led to a slight point with full, red lips underneath. It looked like she had been traveling for a while with baggy clothes, loose around her rather toned body.I sighed. Well, this wasn’t the plan, but I’m happy to have her. I’m happy we found her. Grumbled my wolf, Dezz. This isn’t how I imagined it, Dezz. A little help with what to do next?Human, it’s all up to you. I’m not getting involved, but if you lose her, I’ll eat every dead animal I come across till the end of time. Thanks. I mumbled back sarcastically. He gave a mental flip of his tail and curled up in the back of my mind. Now, what am I going to do with her? Normal female wolves marked
My body felt heavy, I tried to wiggle my toes and failed. What is going on? Slowly the feeling in my feet, then my legs started to come back. And I felt worried? Why would I be worried? What happened? Wait, this isn’t my worry. With that a flood of memories came back to me and I sat up ramrod straight in his bed. Looking around his room, I noticed him asleep in an arm chair that wasn’t in the room before. When did he move that in here? I was probably only out for a few minutes.I moved to get up off of the bed seeing the bathroom to the left of the bed. I felt stiff all over. Looking over at the man sleeping on the chair, a pair of ice blue eyes where looking back at me.“I hope you weren’t planning on trying to run again. The last three days and the bond setting will have weakened you.” I looked at him with my mouth open like a fish. Three. Days?!“What do you mean three days? There’s no way. And I never consented to you marking me. Isn’t it a rule for y’all too that you ask permissi
I had taken an intentionally long shower in the hopes that the weirdness from before would be gone by the time I was out. Looking around the bathroom, I realized I forgot clothes. Sticking my head out the door, he was gone. Slowly I walked out into the bedroom. He could return at any time, I better get dressed quickly. Going into his closet, I found his clothes hung up in perfect color order. All the seams of the pants and sweatpants were on display. Again, I wondered at the neat freak nature he has about him. Grabbing a pair of sweatpants down with a string, I pulled them up to my waist and tied it off. To say they swallowed me, would be the understatement of the year. I had to roll up the pant bottoms to even be able to walk. Looking at the shirts, I found one with the band The Pretty Reckless on it. I love that band. I pulled it on over my head. It looked more like a dress than a shirt on me. Whatever, this will have to do.For a while I sat on the bed and waited for him to return.
Stomping up the steps to the pack house, I could hear someone catching up to me. Turning around I started to speak without looking at the person. “Look, Kade. I’m just going to go up to the third floor and find a room. Please, if you must follow me, give me at least a little space.” Looking up, it wasn’t Kade I was speaking to but Aziel.“What’s wrong with my room?” He questioned me with a puzzled look.“I thought you would be entertaining later and I’d rather not be involved.” I glared at him. Crap. I didn’t think I would still be this mad about the blonde touching him.“What’s that suppose to mean?” He wasn’t getting it or did he want me to spell it out for him. Glaring at him from the top step of the porch, I didn’t know what answer was correct. Fine, if he wants to play games, let’s play.“That beautiful blonde you were speaking to at the practice field. I thought maybe you would want to ask her out on a date.” I said while acting as innocent as possible.“Oh, that really did both
I watched him moved around the kitchen. For someone his size, he moved with the ease of a dancer. His shirt clung to him like a second skin. Hearing a beeping, he pulled his phone from his pocket to check the text message he had received. “What size clothes do you wear?”“Why? I don’t plan on staying here long enough to need new clothes.” I grabbed the knife from him and started dicing the onions he was working on before the text.“If you want to wear my baggy clothes, I don’t mind, but I thought you would like something more your size and comfortable.” There was a smile in his voice, and I could hear the hidden laughter. I guess I did look like I was wearing a circus tent.“Medium top, 34 b bra, medium underwear, and size 8 or medium pants.” I continued to dice the onions. They were starting to make my eyes water. I don’t understand how a plant can reduce me to a mess of tears. Tearing up, I walked to the sink and turned on the water. I felt a warm, strong chest come up behind me. Le
We went out the back door this time. The forest was located about 100 yards away. We walked towards it without talking. When we got to the edge, he turned and looked at me. “Now no trying to run off. I have scouts out in the forest and I don’t think you would be able to get away again with that mark on your neck.” Oh, yeah. My personal homing beacon. I don’t know how I’m going to manage to escape and stay gone with this thing on my neck.“Understood.” Looking towards the trail in front of us, I started to stretch. Feeling eyes on me I looked between my legs while touching the ground. He was looking at my butt. “Do you mind?”Startled, he looked away. “Are you ready to go? I figured we would follow this trail; it loops back around and comes out at the front of the house.”“Sure, let’s get to running.” I took off on the trail and soon heard him following me. Slowly he caught up and we were running next to each other. For about a mile, we ran without talking. After the next rise there wa
