WINTER'S POV

I made it to my room and locked the door behind me.

My bags were already inside even though Dante said they'd bring them up after dinner. Of course they were. These men didn't ask permission for anything.

I pulled out my phone with shaking hands. Fifteen messages from Marcus. I didn't read them. I never did anymore but I saw the last one and my blood turned to ice.

I know you're in the Moretti mansion. Pretty place. Big gates. Three stepbrothers. Does Mommy know you're fucking her new stepsons yet? Or are you waiting for them to force you like you always wanted?

My phone slipped from my hands and hit the floor.

He was watching the house. He knew where I was. He knew about Dante, Kai, and Luca.

A knock on my door made me jump.

"Winter? It's Luca. Can I come in?"

"I'm fine. Just tired."

"You left your sweater downstairs. I brought it up for you."

I didn't leave a sweater anywhere but I opened the door anyway because saying no would make him ask more questions. Luca stood there with his soft smile and warm eyes holding a gray sweater I'd never seen before.

"That's not mine."

"Oh." He looked down at it then back at me. "Must be my mistake. But since I'm here, can I come in? Just for a minute?"

Every part of me screamed to say no but Luca looked so harmless standing there that I stepped back and let him inside, which was my biggest mistake.

He walked past me and looked around my room like he was memorizing everything. Where my bed was, bags and where window led. Then his eyes landed on my phone on the floor.

"You dropped this." He picked it up and I saw Marcus's message still on the screen. Luca's expression didn't change but something cold flashed in his eyes. "Who's Marcus?"

"Nobody. Just some spam."

"Spam doesn't usually say things like this." He looked at me and his warm smile was gone. "Is someone threatening you, Winter?"

"It's nothing. Just some ex who won't let go."

"An ex who knows you're here. Who knows about us." Luca stepped closer and I backed up until I hit the wall. "Does this ex have a habit of hurting you?"

"I can handle it."

"That's not what I asked." He was right in front of me now, close enough that I could smell his cologne. His hand came up and touched my cheek so gently I almost believed he was safe. "Does he hurt you?"

I couldn't answer. My throat closed up with two years of fear and pain I'd never told anyone about.

Luca's jaw got tight. "I need to show Dante and Kai this."

"No." I grabbed his arm. "Please don't. I don't want them involved. I don't want anyone involved."

"Too late, Winter. You're part of this family now and we protect what's ours." He said it so sweetly like it was romantic instead of possessive and terrifying.

"I'm not yours."

"Not yet." His thumb brushed across my bottom lip and my breath stopped. "But you will be. All three of us see it even if you don't."

Before I could respond, my door opened without knocking. Dante walked in like he owned the place because he did.

"Luca, what are you doing in Winter's room with the door closed?"

"We have a problem." Luca handed him my phone.

I watched Dante read Marcus's messages and his face turned to stone. The temperature in the room dropped. When he looked up at me, his gray eyes were pure ice and rage.

"How long has he been threatening you?"

"It's not important."

"How.... Long." He stretched out the words.

"Two years." The words came out small and broken. "I left him two years ago and he won't stop."

"He put his hands on you." It wasn't a question, dante could see it in my face.

I didn't answer but I didn't have to.

Dante crossed the room in two steps and his hand wrapped around my throat, not squeezing but claiming. "Listen to me very carefully, Winter. This man will never touch you again. Do you understand?"

"You can't just—"

"I can and I will." His grip got a tiny bit tighter. "You're under this roof now under my protection. That means what's mine stays safe."

"I'm not yours."

His thumb pressed against my pulse and he felt how fast my heart was beating. "Your body disagrees."

The door opened again and Kai walked in without knocking either. He took one look at Dante's hand on my throat and Luca holding my phone and his eyes went dark.

"What did I miss?"

"Read this." Dante handed him my phone.

I watched Kai's face change as he read Marcus's messages. His jaw clenched and something violent flashed in his eyes. When he looked at me, I saw a predator ready to kill.

"Who the fuck is Marcus Shaw?"

"Her ex," Luca said quietly. "The one who's been threatening her for two years."

Kai walked toward me and I pressed harder against the wall. "So we kill him. Problem solved."

"Kai." Dante's voice carried a warning.

"What? You read what he wrote. He's watching our house and threatening our girl." Kai stopped right in front of me, so close I could feel the heat from his body. "Nobody threatens what's ours and lives."

"I'm not yours," I whispered but even I could hear how my voice shook.

Kai leaned in until his lips almost touched my ear. "Keep telling yourself that, baby but we all know the truth."

My phone buzzed in Dante's hand and it was another message from Marcus.

I'm coming for you soon. Sleep tight.

Kai smiled and it was the scariest thing I'd ever seen. "Let him come. I could use the entertainment.”

WINTER POVThe silence felt wrong. Not peaceful. Not calm.Wrong.I sat on my bed, staring at the door like it might open on its own. The house was still secured—guards outside, cameras, everything in place. But Marcus had gotten in before. And now…Now he was angry.I checked my phone again.Nothing.No new messages. That somehow made it worse.Too quiet.Too still. My leg bounced nervously as I tried to focus on anything else. A book. My thoughts. Breathing. It didn’t work.Because in the back of my mind, one thing kept repeating—He’s watching.A soft sound echoed down the hallway. My entire body froze.Footsteps.Slow.Measured.Not rushed. Not panicked.Deliberate.My heart slammed against my ribs.Security? It had to be.Right?I stood slowly, moving toward the door.“Hello?” I called out.No answer. The footsteps stopped. The silence that followed was suffocating.Every instinct in my body screamed at me to lock the door.To hide.To stay still. But something else—Something ne

WINTER POVSleep didn’t come easy.Even when my body was exhausted… my mind wouldn’t shut off.Marcus’s message. My reply.Dante’s voice. We dismantle him.The words replayed over and over until sometime before dawn, I must’ve drifted off—because when I opened my eyes again, sunlight was already creeping through the curtains. And voices…Low.Focused.Dangerous.I sat up slowly. My body ached from yesterday’s training, from the fight, from everything. But underneath that ache… there was something else.Readiness.I stepped out of my room. The hallway was quiet, but the voices were clearer now—coming from downstairs.I followed them. The living room had been transformed overnight.Tables covered in laptops.Screens lit with maps.Camera feeds.Names.Photos.It looked less like a home… and more like a command center. And in the middle of it—Dante.Kai.Luca.They didn’t notice me at first.Dante stood over one of the tables, sleeves rolled up again, jaw tight as he studied something o

WINTER POVThe room felt colder after I showed them the message. Not physically.Something else.Something dangerous.Dante didn’t speak right away.He just stood there, staring at my phone like he could see Marcus through the screen. His jaw was tight, his shoulders rigid—every inch of him coiled like a man holding back violence by sheer force.Kai wasn’t even trying to hold it back.“That’s it,” he said, pacing once before dragging a hand through his hair. “I’m done playing defense. We find him. Tonight.”Luca was quieter.Which somehow made it worse.“He’s escalating faster now,” he said, eyes still on the photo. “He’s not just watching anymore. He’s documenting. That’s a shift.”“A shift to what?” I asked, my voice barely steady.Luca looked at me.“To ownership again.”My stomach twisted.Dante finally moved. He handed the phone back to me—but his fingers brushed mine for a second longer than necessary.Grounding.Or maybe claiming.“Sit,” he said.I hesitated. Then… I did. This

WINTER POVMy hands were still shaking when we got back. Not from fear. From adrenaline. From the way my body hadn’t frozen this time. From the fact that I’d actually fought back. The house looked worse in daylight. Broken door. Cracked walls. Security moving in and out like shadows. The air still carried that sharp, metallic edge of violence. But something inside me felt… different.Awake.“You’re bleeding.”Kai’s voice cut through my thoughts.I blinked. “What?”He stepped closer without asking, his fingers catching my wrist before I could pull away. His touch was warm. Firm. Careful in a way that didn’t match the way he fought.“There,” he said, tilting my arm slightly.A thin line of red trailed along my skin where the man had grabbed me.I hadn’t even noticed.“It’s nothing,” I said.Kai didn’t let go.“It’s not nothing,” he murmured. “It’s a reminder.”“Of what?”His eyes lifted to mine.“That next time, you don’t let them get that close.”My breath hitched slightly.Something a

WINTER POVThe air outside felt different.Heavier.Like something was waiting.I stepped out onto the front steps slowly, my eyes immediately going to the street beyond the gates. The broken door behind us had been temporarily sealed, but the damage still lingered—splintered wood, cracked marble, the faint smell of gunpowder.A reminder.Marcus had been here. And he wasn’t done.“Stay close,” Dante said, his voice low behind me.I didn’t argue this time.Kai moved ahead of us, already scanning the perimeter like he was hunting something. Luca stayed near me, not touching—but close enough that I could feel his presence like a second shadow.“Where?” I asked quietly.Luca nodded toward the long driveway that curved out toward the main road. “Two streets down. Security tracked the vehicle from the cameras before Marcus entered.”“So they were watching,” I said.“Yeah,” Kai muttered. “And they’re still watching.”That sent a chill down my spine. We reached the gates. Two black SUVs idled

WINTER POVThe house didn’t feel like a house anymore. It felt like a war zone.Men in black uniforms moved through every room, speaking into radios, checking windows, securing doors. The shattered front entrance was being boarded up, wood slamming into place with sharp, echoing cracks.Every sound made my body flinch.I stood in the middle of the living room, arms wrapped tightly around myself, trying to breathe through the adrenaline still flooding my veins.Marcus had been here. He’d stood exactly where I was standing. He’d looked at me like—“Winter.”Dante’s voice cut through my thoughts. Calm. Controlled. But underneath it… something darker.I turned. He stood a few feet away, jacket off now, sleeves rolled up, a faint bruise forming along his ribs where Marcus had hit him.
