6: Meng Meng

Her mouth stretched out a little.

For a moment, she wanted to say something, but on the second thought, it seems better to take a light nod instead.

The living man in front of her was obviously not someone who would listen to anything unless he could see it with his own eyes.

Though she was not surprised at the brutal temperament of a savage like him, she realised her naivety to think this man could be easily deceived.

When Shan Yang took his stone bowl out from her grasp. You can't expect any gentleness, and she did not bother to care.

From Sol Ming’s understanding at this time, this man would immediately slash her with a knife without any hesitation, even if you begged him to death. Now, having the little brother at her care. It must be because he had no choice but to give it a try. Even after taking her back with a purpose to become their food, he gave into her foreign words.

It was enough to let Sol Ming feel she had the upper hand here—where her mistakes and stupidity lie. She was not that careful  and guarded enough.

Under a series of deeper contemplation she allows to come as well to take as her future guidelines, she intakes a long deep breath and closes her eyes.

By the next time she blinked again, an unknown glint of emotion flashed in for a second.

Shan Yang just left after taking out some  bones and she was left alone with the little brother.

Oh, is this possibly a kind of test?

Having it just to be in case, Sol Ming obediently waited while recalling all the images of medicinal plants she'd seen from the old folks.

"Master?" A sudden call made Sol Ming turn her head.

At first glance, it looks like nobody is out there. But, at the exact moment a small head tried to peek through the entryway, she met the pair of adorable blue eyes filled with curiosity. It is directly staring back at her.

Seeing the locks of bright orange hair, there was a little confusion. Thinking whether or not this young man was a foreign in this tribe, and all the residents of this world do have some more to say in terms of their genetics.

Although she can't deny the other one looks cute and kind of refreshing, he is yet another stranger.

Sol Ming put up the fake smile as always, and began,"Is this brother looking for my master?"

In speaking this specific term toward another person has really annoyed her, she never calls anyone with this title, after all.

"Master, he just left a while ago. "

"Ah...then... I will wait here, sister." The hint of shyness was there, and she found herself smiling more even.

For the first time into this world she finally met someone who looked naive and cute outside, and so on the inside. Unlike that brute force—muscle— head who possibly uses their brains only for meat.

Pushing aside the oncoming images of Shan Yang's poker face, she shook her head and focused on the orange-haired.

"Why not come here inside and let's wait together for the—my master to come back, hmm?" Sol Ming suggested in a manner similar to a kind and warm sister.

But, actually, saying that feels as if she is swallowing a spider.

"I can't go inside," came a weak reply, "I need Master's Shan Yang approval first to follow the rules of the Dou Yun Shan tribe."

"Oh," Her eyes seem to be twitching at the statement. "Does it mean that the little brother is also a sl*ve? Who   is your master?"

"I am Master Shan Qiu's slave called Meng Meng." Another slip of an 'Oh. . .' as she caught a little reluctance from the boy's tone.

Yet, this was not because he was nervous or scared or didn't like to admit it.

Instead, it is more  sounded like a high-school girl who was under the influence of unrequited love.

Nodding in understanding. Sol Ming easily realised the hidden motive for this sudden appearance. That, Shan Qiu person is up to something, and her lips curved in a quiet sneer.

"Sister, are you okay?" Meng Meng asked.

He just heard from his cool Master Shan Qiu that there's a new sl*ve in Master Shan Yang's tent, and it is a female from the defeated Wu Qing Tribe. Hearing it made him a little excited and hoped he could be a friend with the other person. "I heard from the master that the sister was wounded, and, and,...about Master Shan Mu's illness."

Sol Ming nodded. Taking note of Shan Yang's little brother's name in her heart. "I am just a little hurt. You don't have to worry."

"It is not good. The healers of the tribe never treat the sl*ve, and the sister injured will get bad, and you might die." Sol Ming cannot see any falsehood from the orange-haired. "I will try to search for herbs later once I got the permission from Master Shan Yang."

"Wait, little brother know how to identify herbs?" Sol Ming set aside the fact she noticed the slave's freedom and well-being are all accorded to their masters. If she can get this young boy to do something for her, that would be a good idea.

Stepping a bit close to the tent Meng Meng looked around to see if anybody was within the hearing range before he spoke in a low voice.

"Sister can I trust you?"

"Oh, of course,"Sol Ming affirmed, letting out a slow smile cross her lips. "You can trust me, and since we are both sl*ves..." And as long as you don't do any harm to me, you can trust me. She thought the rest of the words mentally.

Blue eyes staring at her have widened, a little happy, and bashful.

Meng Meng fingers played with each other as he whispered weakly, "Sister, what is your name?"

"Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself. I am named Sol Ming, but you can call me Sister Ming."

"That's, Sister Ming."

"Hmm..."

"You're from the Wu Qing Tribe right?"

"Well, I am." At least the original body owner was.

Meng Meng brightened up at what he just heard. His heartbeats quickened with anticipation as he tried so hard to control the happiness going inside him.

"I will be back, Sister Ming!"

He hurried away after that.

Sol Ming was too late to react, wanting to yell what the secret was then?

She let out a soft sigh. Getting back at the sleeping child a few steps away.

It reminded her the survival of her life depended on this little brother; but that would be not easy as walking in the park.

Her profession was far from holding scalpels or reading vital signs on the screen.Waiting for someone to come back.

Meng Meng didn't disappoint her when he came back and with a piece of unknown leaf.

At first sight, it looks like an ordinary part of the plant, but when she takes a closer look, there is a little familiarity she cannot phantom.

"Sister Ming! Look, this is something I usually use in treating my wounds, and it has always been helping me." Meng Meng says, enthusiastic.

"Really?" Sol Ming can't help asking back. Is this a helping hand from heaven?

"I don't know what they called it, but my tribe's healer taught me about this."

"May I see it more closely?"

"Of course," he paused, "But, let's wait for Master Shan Yang."

As soon as he said that, like what people always love to say, speak about the devil, and it will come.

Shan Yang's voice bellowed from behind the oranged-haired sl*ve. "Meng Meng why are you here!"

Sol Ming's merry expression collapsed in an instant. The brutal man is here, he is here, he is damned back, she thought like a mantra in her mind.
