Chapter 1

Alpha Braden

I was sitting in my office waiting for Jaxon, my beta. It's been 4 years since I took over as the Alpha of our pack and it's been 22 years since my twin brother was abducted. After that rogue attacks subside. Until now we're still tracking those who abducted my twin brother. My mother the Luna suffered from depression and thank God that she realized that she still has me as his son. While my father become so ruthless he killed every rogue that enters our territory. That's why the Lunar pack is now known to be the strongest and most ruthless pack in the whole of Europe. 

I looked at the door when I heard a knock.

"Come in," I said. Then Jaxon came in. He bowed his head and I saw a wide grin on his face. 

"What about?" I asked with a frown face.

"Well, the Luna and Alpha will host a grand ball for all mateless she-wolves in the continent, for you to find your mate," he said. I heard his laugh.

I shake my head. Since, I turned 20 years old, two years ago, my parents were so agitated to finally found my mate. That made me sick. I don't need a mate, I see it as a weakness to alpha to have a mate. My dad's life went hell when my twin brother disappeared and my mom went into depression, it becomes the downfall of the pack. 

I trained hard to be the strongest and ruthless wolf since I was young before I took over my father's position and my hard work paid off when I got back on track with our pack. If my twin brother was not abducted when were pups we can be a powerful leaders. 

"Where are you? Bryson." I scoffed mentally. Atticus my wolf and I still believe that he's still alive. 

"And when was that?" I asked Jaxon regarding the grand ball.

"Five days from now," he said. Then someone knocks on the door. I saw Jaxon smirk before the door opened. 

His mate Jade came in.

"Hey, babe" Jaxon greeted her and give her a smock kiss on the lips. I rolled my eyes at the two lovebirds.

"Alpha, the training will be postponed, two days from now before the Grand ball. As ordered by the Luna." Jade said. 

My face frowned from what I heard. 

'Why I wasn't told about that?" I asked. Everyone knew that training is very important to me.

"The Luna said that the pack was well trained since you take over the alpha position, and they deserve to have a good time and enjoy their lives" Jade explained. 

I look at the two and they were both smirking at me.

"Okay, fine," I replied. I heard Jade squeal and clap her hands while Jaxon just look at her lovingly.

Jade excuse herself excitedly. I heard Jaxon chuckle.

"How come you able to live with her?" I asked him. Jaxon glared at me.

"Why not, she's my mate and I love her" he replied.

"Once, you finally found your mate, your world changed," he added. I smirk at him.

"You knew that I don't believe in a mate thing, right?" I told him.

Jaxon sighed. "Mate thing is not a bad thing Brad. We live to fight and die, at least before that we had our chance to be happy" Jaxon said.

I was quiet for a moment from what he said. All he said was true. We wolves fight and die, part of our animal instinct, we fight for power and dominance.  But what if the moon goddess paired me to weak mate. Well, my mother was strong Luna before my twin brother was abducted. What I mean is she-wolves are so emotional that made they are weak.

Jaxon stood up and tap my shoulder. 

"I know why you're against the mate bond, you had worries that you will be like your father. Don't let the past stop you to be happy," he told and smiled before he left my office.

I groaned. Honestly, I felt envy for Jaxon seeing happily married and settled with Jade. my best friend deserves it, we became friends since were pups, he became a part of us when Dad saves him from rogues. His pack was attacked and no one survives, it was five years since we first meet and that was the start of our brotherhood. Maybe my father saw my twin brother at him that's why mom and dad adopted him. And we found out that Jaxon was born with Beta blood. That's why as we grow older and had our wolf I tell him that he will be my Beta which he agreed. 

"I wish the moon goddess will give me a strong Luna" I mumbled in the air. 

I feel tired from all the paper works in my office. I stood up from my chair and walk towards my office balcony. My eyes roam on the forest behind the packhouse. 

"Run," Atticus said inside my head. I smiled. It's been days before I let my wolf out for a run. My eyes darken before I jump outside my balcony. I was on the 5th floor. Cracking of bones was heard between midair. Four white paws landed on the ground of a pure white wolf with icy blue eyes. 

Atticus my alpha wolf is a pure white wolf. I let Atticus take over and he speeds off like a bullet towards the forest. I just leave my ripped clothes where I landed. Running in the woods loosen me up from all the alpha duties. Atticus humped in dried logs and wet streams. The cool winds made me relax. In just seconds I was now on the top of the hill were surrounded by a deep blue ocean, this is my comfort place, no one knows about this place.

I found this place when I was running away from the packhouse, those were the times that the pack was still suffering from losing my twin brother and when Mom had depression. And Dad was busy visiting nearby packs.

When my twin brother was abducted, I grew up alone until Jaxon came in. 

I bitterly smile when I remembered the past. 

"You knew that Bryson is still alive, I felt in the twin bond that he's somewhere out there. I can feel his struggles and pain." Atticus said.

"Yeah, I can feel it too," I replied.

"He will come back soon, I believe on it," Atticus added. 

"Yeah, he will" I answered. 

I keep myself busy enjoying the beautiful view of the ocean. I remembered the grand ball.

Jaxon is right, I will give a try the mate bond" I whispered.

"I want mate," Atticus said.

"Yeah, buddy we will find her soon" I replied. 

I hope that Bryson will come back soon so we could complete the mating process once we found our mate. As twins, we shared in one mate. We are one soul separated into two bodies.

As per aunt Harithi, we are destined for greatness. So how can we fulfill our mission if my brother was not yet here?

'I hope you're well, brother,' I whisper.

Atticus always felt the distress of his twin wolf. Wherever you are right now, please don't give up. I will not stop searching for you.

I stayed for a moment before I decided to go back to the packhouse.

I let Atticus take over again as we run back towards the packhouse.

I stop behind the large tree. I took a piece of boxer shorts. I don't feel like going back to my office. I think I will have a headache while looking in the pile of papers and reports of the packhouse's financial status.

So, I decided to walk around the territory. I found myself heading to the training ground. I saw head trainers guiding the newly shifted wolves. Being the strongest pack in Europe, we decided to train young wolves at an early age, so that they can protect themselves once rogues attack us.

I also plan to build an elite squad consisting of wolves with extraordinary skills and fighting abilities. I already talked with dad and soon with the elders of the pack.

I knew that they will agree with me. They will be the secret weapon of the pack.

As I go further in waling the territory. I saw a lot of pups playing around. I saw the happiness on their young faces.

At some point, I feel envy for them. I wasn't able to enjoy my childhood. I was trained by my dad at a young age, instead of playing with other kids. I got boxing gloves, daggers, and swords in my hand.  And I got used to it.

"Good morning, alpha" one of the pups greeted me. I look at his young innocent face. 

I smiled at him.

"What's your name?" I ask. 

The pup sat beside me. "My name is Altaire," he replied in his cute toothy grin. 

I laughed at him. 

"They say, your a big bad alpha, it is true?" he asked. I smiled at him.

"What do you think?" I asked him back. He shook his head.

"For me, you're a good man," he replied. My heart softens from his young words.

"How did you say that?" I asked him again. I furrowed my face so that he will be afraid of me. But I was surprised when he hugged me.

"My mom said that you're just sad because of your brother, " he said. I was taken back by his words. I keep quiet.

"Don't worry Alpha, moon goddess will reward those who do good deeds to others," he said like it a mature guy. I smiled and shake my head. I was amused with this kid, he is talkative and smart. I messed up his hair made him pout.

I was about to speak when a woman called Altaire. He bowed his head and run towards her mother, I think. The she-wolf bowed and smile at me.

"Bein a big bad alpha, is not worst at all," I mumbled.
