My voice cracks as I whisper, “I’m so happy to hear your voice again.” I have more things I want to say, but the words are lodged in my throat. A turmoil of emotions slams into me. Lance POVI aimlessly wonder through the halls. For some strange reason, I can’t sleep tonight, which is something new for me. My wolf has been almost bouncing off the walls in my mind.I only realize where I’m at when I stop in front of a private hospital room. Why am I here? The same question which has been rolling around in my head for the last few days suddenly pops back up again. Is she alright? I stare at the door as my heartbeat quickens and my chest tightens. She is on the other side. Taking a deep breath, I gather my courage and quietly enter the room. My eyes immediately go to the bed where Trinity is sleeping. Trinity POVMy eyes flicker open, and I stare up at the white ceiling for a few moments. My conversation with my father flashes through my head. When is he going to call me again? I wouldn’t complain if he wants to call me all the time. I have nothing else to do. Unless Becca or Lance come, I don’t have anyone else to talk to. The staff is nice, but I really can’t talk to them much. Becca might be my physical therapist, but she has such a pleasant personality and is very friendly. Trinity POVI slowly lick my lips. Hmmm…A sweet, alluring taste lingers, but I don’t know why. I didn’t eat any sweets last night, but this isn’t the first time this has happened. It has been happening every morning for the last several days. Each morning I wake feeling alive and better than the previous day. My body doesn’t ache, and I feel like I could go run through the forest without a problem. I shake my head and sit up in bed. I wish I knew what the taste was from. Lance POVAs if something is pulling me here, I slide into Trinity’s hospital room, making sure to not make a sound. It has become my nightly ritual, and one I can’t seem to break no matter how hard I try. I had kept myself buried in work all day today, but as the sky turned dark and the night settled in, I found myself making the same the trek as I have the previous nights. Once I’m inside the room, my wolf jumps forward and softly howls and whines while he wags his tail faster than he ever has before. Something is different. A faint scent tickles my nose, but I can’t place what it is. Every fiber in my body wants more of it. I take a deep breath and almost hum in delight. I need to know where this is coming from. This alluring scent, even though it is faint, can’t tease me and then vanish. I must find the source. Heat rushes through me. My gaze drifts to the sleeping beauty in the bed.
