Alruin

I looked around after a few hours and frowned.

“Cain, have you seen Malric?” I asked.

He shook his head, “No, not since he walked away hours ago. He must have found something else to do, else he’d have returned a lot sooner.”

I sighed, my heart was uneasy about Malric being out of his comfort zone, in a town like this where magic reigned supreme. The courtyard Cain and I were training was surrounded by the city’s guards, for my own safety, they said. Word was spreading about the return of the blood bearer a bit too quickly. Some people stared too long, some with fascination, some hope, some disbelief, most hesitation. My skin crawled with goosebumps whenever these stares lingered too long and I struggled to avoid them. I was never used to being the center of attraction.

“Hey,” Cain called, brushing my sweaty arm with his palm, “I’m sure Malric is fine out there, you need to focus here.”

I nodded, “We’ve been trying to do this particular skill or spell you’re talking about,

  • Scarred By My Alpha   Chapter 93

Malric Cain rushed past me and a surge of energy suddenly burst through my veins, jerking my cold limbs back to life. I sprang forward, overtaking Cain, but there was no way either of us were making it on time. As the beast’s massive claw was inches away from Alruin, something suddenly happened. As though he had eyes on the back of his head, Alruin ducked out of his way, sinking his claws into the beast’s belly. I stopped, shocked at how quick his reflexes were. I saw the shock on Cain’s face too and he started muttering something under his breath. The beast howled in pain and Alruin, with blood-soaked claws, dug his claws into the beast's head, killing it instantly. He panted heavily and closed his eyes. When he finally opened them, he stared at me impassively and for a second, I couldn’t see any trace of the gentle Alruin I once knew in those cold eyes. “We need to find a way to shut the leak through which they came in,” he said, walking past Cain and I. “I have a feeling so m

Malric Cain was injured badly.Something terrible had happened and it was quickly spreading all over the city. Alruin refused to talk about it with me because he felt ashamed. So, he decided to lock himself up in our room while Nyari went on to treat Cain. I didn’t want to force the issue, so I decided to go to Nyari for answers instead. I waited until it was evening and the boisterous streets began to thin out. She walked out of the hut she had been treating Cain in, sweating profusely, thin with exhaustion, but that tired face broke into an excited smile when she saw me waiting. “Malric.” She called nervously.I frowned, I still hadn’t gotten used to being addressed so casually, but I hid my discomfort. “Hello.” I said and glanced at the hut, even though I didn’t want to, I found myself asking, “How is he?”“He just needs more rest,” she said, her eyes fixed on my jaw with fascination. I felt like a spectacle standing in the middle of an empty museum and she was the only spectat

  • Scarred By My Alpha   Chapter 90

Malric At first, I had been drawn to this city, its beautiful walls and serene air, but by the time I was awake the next day and its people flooded the streets, everything changed. I loathed the boisterous air in the city so much, but Alruin seemed to love it. What I didn’t expect was for word about him to spread so quickly.‘The blood bearer’ he was called. Cain and the new girl, Nyari whispered words about Alruin as we walked through the streets of the city. I thought I would be recognized here, but Cain had told me that I didn’t need to draw a hoodie over my head, no one would know who I was. I still had my doubts. Vantheir was the most popular pack in our region, made possible by my father, who wouldn’t know who his son was? But it turned out that Cain was right. It felt so different when people looked at me and impassively looked away without bowing or acknowledging my presence. I felt completely invisible in a city that worshipped Alruin. Walking next to him practically turn

AlruinCain lied to us.We stood before the vast, bleak desert after descending from the cliff. Malric was never comfortable with him and kept glancing back to see if the beasts were keeping up with us. Cain urged him to relax as we were out of their reach for now. “Yeah, and how long until we are not? You are taking this life threatening journey of ours a bit too calmly for my liking.” Malric replied flatly, glaring at him suspiciously. The land hummed with emptiness as we stepped on to it, like a cemetery with no graves. I squinted ahead, trying to see how long it ran for, but only a dusty stretch drifted into the darkness ahead. Cain suddenly dropped to his knees and skimmed the dust with his fingers. I glanced at Malric, who carried a palpable, confused expression on his face, as Cain began to mutter strange words in an unfamiliar tongue.I placed a hand on his shoulder but right before I spoke, the ground suddenly rippled apart like a water current. I flinch, taking a step bac

  • Scarred By My Alpha   Chapter 88

LorakThere was something intriguing about the frozen cliffs that bordered the threshold of Silvermoon’s territory. I loved to stand there from time to time, staring into the roaring abyss below. It was like a memory coven, where all my deepest pains lay beneath. I sucked my teeth and tried to look away, but I couldn’t. It was all twisted now. I couldn’t forget the memories of the mate I once had, couldn’t stop hearing his screams, torturing every inch of what was left of my sanity. Now, all that trauma was coupled with twisted images of Alruin’s betrayal. I could feel him under me whenever I went to bed, writhing, gasping and calling out Malric’s name. I woke up each morning with a sting in my heart, a sour taste on my tongue. Nothing seemed right, everything that I had built for so many years came crashing down that terrible night Alruin left. I swallowed and my heart splintered as I recalled the night before the ceremony. The jubilation and festivity in the air, the congratula
