Zahra's POV

I walk toward the centre of the field, dropping my water bottle and shoes at the edge. I’ll remain barefoot, I prefer the feel of grass anyway, I peel off my running tights, leaving me in cycling shorts, then remove my T-shirt. My sports bra, training vest and shorts will be enough to keep me decent, hide my scars, and mean I have something to wear after I shift and shred it all.

“Any pointers before we begin?” I ask, rolling my shoulders.

Edwardo smirks. “Keep your focus on both opponents, use all your senses when your eyes fail, and do not hold back.”

I grin, nodding in acknowledgment. From the corner of my eye, I catch movement, our audience at the far side of the field. Of course, they would not want to miss this.

‘Focus,’ Zanthe’s voice snaps in my mind.

I roll my shoulders, loosening my muscles. Edwardo and Henry flank me on either side, circling like the wolves they are, closing in on prey. I pivot slowly, keeping both men in my periphery. They move in sync, testing

Zahra's POV“There is a second part to the prophecy.”King James and Tobias both sit up straighter, their attention locked on her.Angelica’s voice drops slightly, carrying the weight of something ancient.“In order to defeat the enemy, this daughter of Selene will bring about the return of the Lycans, and her son will be the new Lycan King—ruler of the supernatural world once more.”I stare at her. Then I burst out laughing.“Pffft—hahaha!”Tobias smirks, his eyes twinkling in amusement, and even King James’s lips twitch at the corner.Angelica, however, looks like she just sucked on a lemon.“That’s ridiculous,” I say, wiping a tear from my eye. “Everyone knows there’s no such thing as Lycans.”The silence in the room is deafening.I stop laughing.Wait.I glance at King James, whose expression is now far too serious.“Well, actually,” he says slowly, “there are… or rather, there were.”My stomach drops.Angelica speaks as if I never interrupted, her voice as smooth and unwavering a

Zahra's POVI glance around nervously and raise an eyebrow at Tobias, hoping he’ll clue me in on what exactly I’m doing here. But it’s King James who finally enlightens me."Zahra, when we first discovered you were a white wolf back in the spring, Alpha Lucas requested a meeting with Angelica to discuss what that might mean for you and to learn more about white wolves in general," King James explains, his voice calm but measured. "He wished to be here with you, but unfortunately, with the rogue situation at present and Xander and the others all being here, he was unable to join us today… Angelica was keen to meet you.”He trails off, and I get the distinct feeling I’m once again missing some crucial piece of information.‘Of course, you are. Why would anyone just tell us things directly?’ Zanthe grumbles in my mind.Good question.I glance between King James and Angelica, waiting for someone to elaborate. But when no further explanation comes, I shift in my seat and clear my throat. "

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 216

Zahra's POVTobias led me back to the Beta residence, told me to shower and change, then asked me to meet him on the other side of the castle in the King’s offices. Easy enough, right? Wrong. The problem is, I have never been on this side of the castle before, and I am now fairly sure I am completely, utterly lost.I have been walking forever—or at least it feels like it. Every corridor looks the same, stretching out like some kind of fancy, never-ending maze. The walls are lined with those ridiculous high-mullioned windows that probably cost a fortune, plush carpets that make my steps annoyingly silent, and absolutely no helpful signs. Every so often, I pass some serious-looking wolves in suits who barely glance my way. There are too many unfamiliar scents in the air, which means I cannot track Tobias or the King either. Fantastic. I am definitely late.Just when I start considering sitting on the floor and accepting my fate as a lost cause, I spot a door labelled; “Beta Office.” Fin

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 215

Zahra's POV‘You probably shouldn’t have walked off without the king’s permission.’ Zanthe chimes in my head.Shit. I did not think of that. I am too wound up to backtrack now.‘Plus, if we do get in here one day, those two will be your instructors. Maybe don’t insult them too much before we even apply.’Another excellent point. And now I am marching across the camp toward the cabins without any underwear on, which is not as uncomfortable as I thought it would be, but I still feel exposed. At least with no boobs to speak of, nothing is bouncing around, but I am worried my nipples might decide to stand at attention. That would be awkwardly noticeable through my T-shirt.I am lost in those lovely thoughts when I reach the main training field. Looks like everyone else finished the obstacle course and left for a break. No idea what time it is without my phone, but I am starving, so here is hoping there is food.Movement catches my eye, and I see Jasper heading toward me from the direction

  • Scarred by fate    Chapter 214

Zahra's POVThe moment my breathing steadies, Edwardo explodes forward, crossing the distance faster than I expect. I drop low, pivoting on my toes to slide under his arm, but Henry is already there, blocking my escape. He sweeps my legs from beneath me, yet I twist as I fall, landing on my hands and flipping backward before either man can pin me.A rumble of approval rolls through the onlookers.I refuse to come down. Instead, I use the momentum to launch higher, spinning mid-air before letting Zanthe fully take over.My body shatters. Fur rips through flesh, bones stretching and reshaping in seconds. Zanthe completes the shift before she even hits the ground. She lands, paws thudding against the earth, claws digging into the dirt as she skids back a few feet. I push forward to join her in this form, the merged state still disorienting but easier than it used to be.Gasps ripple through the audience.“Shit,” someone mutters. We shake out our thick white fur, spine loosening as we dro
