NIKOLAI'S POV. Winter sneezes for the third time in a row and I can’t stop blowing snot out of my nose, It’s a disaster. The ceremony is in just a few hours and I plan to introduce Winter to the pack tomorrow as well but if I was given a chance to start the day all over, I’ll make the exact same choices and I wouldn’t change a thing. I had fun with Winter today. A lot of fun. The feel of the water against my skin was electric and I couldn’t even tell if it was because it was cold or because Winter was in the water with me and her clothes stuck to her body like a second skin hugging all her curves and making her features more. . . .prominent. Her hair draped over her shoulders like she was the goddess of the goddamn ocean and maybe it was just me but I think she illuminated in the water. We played in the water for quite a while before finding our way back up. We kept splashing water on each other like children and competing with each other who could hold their breath under the wa
NKOLAI'S POV.“This is the woman that I intend to marry.” I say pointing at Winter and showing her off to the people. They begin murmur to each other and the elders are in obvious shock.“Yes, I know.” I continue. “She’s not the woman from the mating ceremony, but if my father’s death has taught me anything; it’s to do what you want to do and not hold back on single thing.” I say and they’re no longer murmuring, I think they are starting to agree with me.“I’ve loved Winter since the first time I set eyes on her and the reason I went through with the mating ceremony is because my father didn’t approve of Winter but on the last day we saw each other, he finally approved. I was wondering why he did that in the middle of the ceremony. If only I knew he was going to die.” I shed a tear and Winter was quick to wrap her arms around me. I gained the people’s sympathy too.“As the new Alpha, my first wish is that my people approve of my mate. It’s all I ask.”The entire pack went silent. If t
NIKOLAI'S POV.They did return at mid day just not with the kind of fresh ideas I had hoped for. They just came back the same way they left, so I guess they weren’t sleep deprived, they’re just old. When I reached home I couldn’t sleep so I started to look through my father's office and I found a lot of documents, most of them were useless and the rest of them were useless as well. My father was not very skilled when it came to documentation, I see that now but I did find his journal. It feels weird reading his personal writings and I don’t think I want to go through it either but something caught my eye. My father had properties stashed somewhere in this palace. I guess my secret place is not the only ‘secret place' in this palace. His descriptions were everything but descriptive and it was not very useful but I still managed to find my way to his treasure cave. When I thought I was lost, I listened for hollows within the walls. The passage was through a portrait of himself on the
JACOB'S POV.I just received an invitation from the Tyson pack for an auction. I wonder if they’re not aware that I’m blind or they just didn’t want to leave me out because they pity me. That’s what being disabled does to a person; people pity you for no fucking reason. The pack has continuously sent me gifts—something they never did when I had the ability to see the gifts. Another thing being disable does to you is people think you are a pushover. Lucky for me I’m an Alpha. I show people that think I’m a pushover what I’m made of. I killed two foolish servants who tried to sneak up on me recently. I may be blind but I still have an amazing sense of smell plus being blind has somehow sharpened my senses by three times. I hear things before they even get close to me and I can tell who a person is by their scent from about four miles away. I used to only be able to tell from a mile away. However, this doesn’t mean that I like my new life, I don’t. I hate it, I really do, which is
WINTER'S POV.I arrive home from my trip to the market with aunt Hyacinth and go to our room to find Nikolai so we can have dinner together but he’s not in it. The sheets are ruffled so I know he was in there. Time with aunt Hyacinth was nicer than I thought it would be. She’s like the mother I never had or maybe even better. We get along quite easily and she’s willing to teach me everything that I don’t know and I’m more than eager to learn. Our trip to the market was filled with laughter, I was entertained by the embarrassing stories she told me of Nikolai as a child. I can’t wait to make fun of him using those stories. Apparently, he used to be a talkative as a child and also a rebel, I’m not surprised really. He still rebels a lot now but he’s not really generous with his words any longer, courtesy of his mother’s death. I wanted to ask how it happened but she was quick to change the topic. She must not want to talk about it for some reason. It happened many years ago, she can’t
NIKOLAI'S POV It’s beautiful. Really beautiful. Seeing all my plans come to life, okay maybe they’re not entirely my plan, Winter also had a lot to contribute and I’m very grateful about it but I have to take credit for this wonderful idea. I knew I made the right choice with Winter, she’s a better Luna than Sherry would have ever been. I can’t wait to officially make her mine because even though she doesn’t talk about it, I know she’s eager about it too. She’s graceful with her steps. She’s a great conservationist, excellent even, knows what to say, when to say it and how to say it. She has every basic manner that exists in the history of manners and she’s really patient too, the woman waited three hours for me to finish working before she went sleep. What more could you want in a Luna? Honestly, I thought her transition to Luna would be a little difficult for her to get used to, the activities are a far more strenuous than I’d like to admit but she’s handling it way better than
NIKOLAI'S POV.“Can I get your attention every one?” I say purposefully and every pair of greedy, unforgiving eyes turn to look at me. It feels gratifying, I’ve not even yet start to take their money but I’m already loving it.“Now that the artefacts have arrived, I'll quickly read through the rules so we can get this auction started. Some of us have travelled a really long distance.” I sound considerate.“The artefacts have been put on display and on each of your tables is a placard. If you turn to the other side of it, there’s a number written on there, everyone has a different number.” I explain and they all start to turn their cards. I can’t read some of their expressions but so far this is going well.“When I name the price of an artefact you like, you raise your placard and the bidding begins. Do we all get it?” I ask and they nod, it feels like talking to children. I’m taking my time to explain because I know some of them have never been to an auction before.“The auction start
WINTER'S POVIt can’t be him. There are a ton of people with the same name. I need to calm down. “Alpha Jacob?” Nikolai asks sounding both surprised and pleased. Maybe they’re friends. Maybe I’ve got them mixed up. “I didn’t peg him for someone who likes to socialize.” Nikolai is beaming with smiles. I’m as still as a lake but my heart is fighting a war within me, a war that I think it might win. “I’ll be right there.” Nikolai told the guard and dismissed him. He turns to look at me with a smile, one that I return with a half smile and half scowl. “Why can’t he stay at an inn? We have those right?” I pout and Nikolai’s smile goes even wider.“I doubt he’ll want to stay at in. He’s visually impaired.” There, my heart won. Its officially out of it’s cage and on it’s way to find a way out of my body. It's abandoning me and it’s not going alone. My voice seems to have it’s bag packed too, my brain is yet to decide seeing as I’m still unable to move.“Don’t worry, he’ll only he here a
