KANE’s POV

I was abruptly awakened by a thunderous knock on my door, more of a relentless pounding, really. I checked the time, and it was just past four in the morning. Who in the world could be causing such a ruckus at this ungodly hour? They’d better have a damn good reason, like a fire or an impending attack. If not, that person would not see the sunrise.

The pounding continued, causing me to groan in irritation. I rose from my bed and marched to the door, flinging it open with considerable force, causing it to slam against the wall.

“What!” I barked the moment the door was open. “Good morning, Alpha,” Logan brushed past me, heading straight for my room. I stood there, watching him, struggling to contain my anger.

“Where is she?” Logan’s question hit me like a bolt from the blue. “Where is who?” I walked past him and went to the kitchen, pouring myself a glass of water. “Your mate,” he said. He must have thought I was a wolf like him and the others.
