Looking at the contract in my hand, my face slowly twisted into a smile. I finally had Ayanna again. In this dark world of mine I finally found something bright to hold onto.
"You're smiling boss. It's unlike you," Mason mumbled tilting his head with an amused look on his face as he studied me like he was seeing me for the first time.
Who could blame him, I'd always had a menacing scowl or kept my expression blank. But lately I find myself having a different expression, I smiled and even laugh though most times with Ayanna. She was like an angel pulling me out from my dark abyss. And though I knew someone like me could never be free of a place like that, I should let her go. Yet I couldn't. I didn't want to. Like a leech I held onto her brightness knowing fully well I I'd taint it with my darkness. I was that selfish. I didn't care if she belonged to another, if she was married. I still wanted her. With every fibre of my being.
"This is insanity, you're coveting another's man's wife. You've become insane boss."
I look at my reflection one last time in the mirror, spraying my cologne and nodding satisfyingly at my appearance.
"I've always being insane Mason and it's not coveting if she doesn't belong to him. She never did or their relationship wouldn't crumble like a fragile little wall," I said after turning in his direction. There was this sinister look on my face. One look at me anyone could tell I was deranged. I wouldn't say it's entirely my fault though. After all insanity runs in my bloodline.
"Reschedule all my appointment for tonight. I have a date with Ayanna," my expression brighten again as I mentioned her name.
"Boss, the old master wants to have dinner with the family you're expected to be there."
An unpleasant feeling surged through me at the mention of my family. They were more of an enemy than a family_ thorns in my path. Nothing about them was warm or pleasant.
"They can have dinner without me," I replied curtly, before turning to leave. Mason trailed after me, his footstep echoing lightly on the floor. "If you miss dinner with them, they'd start to pry about why you did and if they discover, you went out on a date they'd look into who the woman was. Things could get nasty."
He was right. Those people were downright nosy. However, I was in no mood to see their unpleasant faces or sit in the same room as them to have dinner. I'd certainly have indigestion. Or die from poisoning.
"I trust you to come up with a good excuse like you always do," I said as my chauffeur drove up to me. "Or better still, get grandfather to reschedule dinner."
I was in the car before he could utter another word. "Drive,"I told the chauffeur, checking my wristwatch. It was already 7.pm even so it was already quite dim. My heart raced at the thought of seeing my sweet Ayanna tonight. Though I saw her last night. I was always anxious whenever it came to her. Not like I hadn't been in a relationship in the past. Most times they were fleeting. The women I was with were only with me for fame and money.
Technically Ayanna was too. Nevertheless when it came to her I didn't care if she used me. I was willingly to be her puppet. I was willingly to do anything for her and willingly to do anything to be with her. That was how far gone I was.
My thoughts came to a halt when the chauffeur pulled up in front of Olivia Bradford's house. Ayanna still insisted keeping our relationship hidden and even though it irked me, I had to do it just so she wouldn't change her mind, not like she could anymore. She'd already signed the contract.
A contract she barely even read or she would've seen that there's was no backing out for her. That this thing between us was for a life time and the only thing that would end were the lives of those in our path.
I already had so much dirt on Alexander Coleman. However, I wouldn't expose them yet until I got him to do what I wanted.
My heart pounded heavily against my chest as I stood before the door. Like I said before this wasn't my first relationship but this was the first time I was in love. This was the first time I was this immensely obsessed.
Taking a deep breath, I rang the door bell. Though there was no reply, I caught the faint click of heels echoing from within the building. Not long after the door swung open and there she was, looking like my deepest desire come to live.
My breath caught in my lungs as I stare at her in the beautiful red dress that hugged her perfect figure. Long black Hair cascading down her shoulder like waves. While her eyes glinted like the sun itset.
"Shall we," she muttered shyly. It was then I regained myself, nodding and handing her the flowers I got her.
AYANNA
I had this feeling like I was being watched as I sat across Rain. However when I look around, all I saw was empty chairs. Since Rain booked the entire place for dinner it was just me and him, and the waiters.
Maybe I was being paranoid. After all, I've been on the edge since the accident. And I know I told Rain I was staying at Olivia's house because I didn't want him to pick me up at my house and risk us being discovered. But in truth, I was scared of my husband. My brave act at the hospital completely crumbled once I returned home last night to find him there. I was terrified he'd tried to kill me again. That he might just stab me in my sleep or poison me or maybe lock me in a refrigerator until I freeze to death. He could even bury me in our backyard and plant beautiful lilies over me, that way no one would suspect after all they'd be too busy admiring the beautiful lilies.
I knew Alex might get suspicious, since I was acting distant yet I couldn't bring myself to pretend no matter how hard I tried.
I flinched as I felt a light touch on my hand, regaining myself. I looked over at where Rain sat, he had this keen expression as though trying to decipher what was on my mind. The reflection of the light cast over his handsome face made him look incredibly appealing.
"Are you worried," he said gently setting the glass in his hand on the table. "You have me. I'll shield you from whatever danger."
I opened my mouth to speak but not no words came out.
"Give me a minute," Rain say after a while. He was gone before I could mutter a response and didn't appear until after a while.
He had taken off his suit, while the black long sleeve shirt he had under was rolled up at the sleeve revealing his claw tattoo. His hair was also slightly disheveled. As my eyes trailed over his body, a silent gasp escaped my lips when I caught sight of his bruised hands and a small cut on his neck.
He smiled when he caught my gaze. "Since you don't seem quite invested in this dinner, I have something else that would make you feel better."
"Mr.Blackwell, it is said in your file that you have an unhealthy obsession with a married woman."She looked up for the file with a curious expression and I shrugged."It's not an unhealthy obsession. It's more like an intense obsession and love for her. I desire to claim her for myself, to protect her even if it means killing the bastard she calls her husband. I'd say the urge to kill him grows each day. I sometimes find myself fantasizing over it," I smiled sadistically as I spoke. Suddenly this therapy session didn't seem so absurd I now had someone to share my sinister intentions with. She observed me for a while, an unreadable expression on her face."I'd like it if you address me as Margaret, going forward. she finally broke the silence. "How about you tell me more about this woman, when and how did you meet her?"I thought back to the time I met Ayanna. You probably thought it was the night she approached me at the club. However Ayanna and I met long before that, I was probab
After I left the room I returned to the guest room where Ayanna was, kissed her forehead and lips before leaving....As soon as I walked into my living room, I found Mason sitting on the couch, he slowly glanced up at me, disapproval written all over his face. I get him, it was almost 4 a.m and I was just coming back home after visiting a lover."I'll schedule you an appointment with a therapist to help with your unhealthy obsession," Was all he said before sauntering off to his quarters.Heaving a sigh, I threw myself into the nearest couch. Could my obsession really be cured? Perhaps I should give it a try. I pushed the thought aside as I pulled the spare phone I bought recently from my pocket. It had a chip installed in it to make every call and text untraceable.I smiled sinisterly as I typed a message pressing send before closing my eyes to sleep.Morning came in a flash, I groaned as I stood up, the aroma of food filling the air. I checked the time on my phone, it was 7.am. ju
I gently removed his hand from my shoulder, heaving a sigh as I turn to face him. "Not tonight Alex, I had a long day but go take a quick shower and come, I'll put you to sleep."Reluctantly, he left and I breath a sigh of relief as I resumed drying my hair. By the time he came out of the bathroom I was in my pajamas sitting on the bed. As much as I wanted to sleep before he came, I couldn't bring myself to, not when he was after my life.I helped him dry his hair and helped him into his pajamas like I always do, then I pulled him to bed with me, making him rest his head on my thigh then I slowly massaged his head while humming a soft melody. I always did this. To him I was showing him affection, that may have been the case yet right now I was simply putting my enemy to sleep so I could sleep also. Once I heard his snores, I patted him several times to be sure he'd truly fallen asleep, carefully removing his head from my lap before leaving the room with my pillow. My phone beeped as
I stopped on my track, my heart beating in trepidation. She couldn't possibly know about my relationship with Rain Blackwell. Perhaps it was based on assumptions after Rain acted so familiar with me back there. That had to be it.Kate was just trying to rile me up so I'd fall right into her trap. But I was done been that dumb Ayanna. I was done been the woman she and Alex secretly laughed at.Calmly I whirled toward her, my lips curving upward into a mocking smile. "Is that so Kate Williams, are you trying to accuse me of cheating so that Alex would leave me for you... I'm not surprised, you like being a mistress after all." Kate stumbled back a step, shock written all over her features. "You..." She said, pointing at me however no other words came out of her mouth afterwards. She probably thought I knew she was cheating with Alex. However, I couldn't confirm her suspicion just yet.Slowly I stepped towards her like a predator. I clutch her chin tightly but not tight enough to bruis
My breath caught in my lungs as I turn toward the door, my gaze meeting his. What a coincidence? And what cruel game was fate playing with me.Rain Blackwell held my gaze for a while then his gaze moved to Alex. His expression suddenly darkened. The man who was with him was also familiar. He was the man who's car Olivia had wrecked. His gaze was fixed on Olivia and his expression grim. "Rain Blackwell, Aaron white," Kate beamed excitement in her tone. I noticed Alex clenched his fist but said nothing."Oh my God, we should invite them to join us," she was up before anyone could approve or object. The three of us watched as she went to Rain. He initially had a deep scowl on his face as she approached but after she said something to him, his gaze moved towards me and the corner of his lip lifted into a smirk."There's no way he'd agree to her request. He's too... Olivia was speaking but her words were cut short the moment Rain and his friend began to approach our table.Alex got on h
I noticed him tense but that didn't stop me. "Such a bastard, he's married yet cheats on his wife. If he's not in love with his wife, why marry her in the first place. Whoever posted this pictures should've showed his face also."The hair stylist agreed with me by nodding her head. "He should be caught and castrated. In my next fast, I'll pray for his doom."Alex shifted uncomfortably in his seat his expression grim just as he opened his mouth to speak the host poked her head through the door and told me the show was about to start. When the hairstylist finished, I looked at my reflection in the mirror smiling in satisfaction and triumph. By the time I walked out of the dressing room. Alex had already gone to take his place amongst the audience. The show began shortly after. I heaved a sigh, adjusting my posture as I prepared to walk the runway. One of the attendant, a young girl gave me water then wished me lucked. The audience chanted my name the moment I walked out."It's AyannaS
AYANNA Alex said his parents wanted to have lunch with us. So here I was dressed in a kneel length, off-shoulder white dress and white shoes to match. My hair, neatly styled in a low bun then I wore gold earrings to match the gold necklace Rain had given to me.Though we had our chauffeur driving
AYANNA I gave him a curious look, but he just pretended not to see it and offered me his hand instead. I hesitated for only a second, taking his hand and letting him lead me wherever he wanted.Minutes later, we stepped onto a rooftop.A gasp escaped my lips, seeing the beautiful view of the city
AYANNA I felt nervous after I got a reply from Rain Blackwell asking me to meet him outside the house. I draped a fur coat over my night dress and a fluffy fur slippers. Picking up my phone I look back at Mother who was still sleeping soundly before walking out of the room. I passed by Father's r
AYANNA Mother sat silently in a rocking chair staring into space absent-mindedly as she rocked herself back and forth. The book in her hand was almost falling off. She didn't even notice me standing behind her until I called out to her."Mother."Her head hastily whipped in my direction. Mother sh
