*Grant*

I have to make this afternoon special. I’m both infuriated and a little embarrassed that the police called my wife while she was out doing charity work. How terrible is that? She’s probably very upset and mortified, even though she sounded happy-ish when I spoke to her on the phone.

She at least seemed happy about seeing me, and that is definitely worth something, I suppose.

It’s not evening, and most of my family is still around. I want to do something romantic, but it seems a bit strange to be coming up with a way to woo my wife in the middle of the afternoon.

But then I think about how much Anna loves to soak in the tub. She doesn’t get many opportunities for that since she is constantly waiting for someone to burst in and demand that she go do a chore or something. With me around, it’ll be much easier for her to relax.

I decide to go into the bathroom and run her a nice, hot bath. I turn the jacuzzi tub on, pour in her favorite… stuff. I’m not sure what all of it is. Bath

  • Secret Billionaire CEO Daughter-in-Law   Celebrating the CEO

*Anna*Grant is driving one of the amazing sports cars we found in my father’s garage. Well, our garage. It seems a little odd still, knowing that all of these fancy, expensive cars belong to us. I never would’ve picked out something like this. It looks like a racecar. Grant opens it up on the highway, after we leave our neighborhood, and I have to hold on to the door with one hand and the console with the other. My heart is racing almost as fast as the car, and I keep squealing. But it’s fun. I totally trust my husband to keep me safe. I just can’t remember ever going this fast before.Grant is chuckling like a little kid. “This car is amazing! I’ve always dreamed of driving a car that can go this fast, and now I own one. Well, we own one.”“This one can be yours!” I shout, even though it’s not that loud inside the car. “I don’t think I want it.”He laughs even louder and goes around a car that seems to be sitting still compared with how fast we are going. We get to Chez Ramiro in no

  • Secret Billionaire CEO Daughter-in-Law   An Important Phone Call

*Anna*“Well, Mr. Parr, I understand what you’re saying. You want that contract drawn up the same way that other event center construction companies complete them, but I’m telling you, with all due respect, sir, that Savage Enterprises is not like other companies. We don’t do business that way.” I pause to let the older man on the other end of the phone get out a spew of angry curses, even though he’s technically not saying any swear words. As soon as he pauses, I say, “You can be angry if you’d like. In fact, you don’t have to sign the contract, but if you want us to build the sports complex for you, that means you have to sign our contract. We aren’t going to cut corners or jeopardize worker safety the way the companies you’ve dealt with in the past do.”“Fine!” Mr. Parr shouts in my ear. “I’ll sign your ridiculous contract, but you should know that it’s perfectly normal for a worker or two to die in the construction of such a large building! No one even bats an eye at it!”“I do,”

  • Secret Billionaire CEO Daughter-in-Law   Announcement Time

*Grant*It’s odd not seeing my mother every day. In all my years, there’ve only been a handful of days when I didn’t see her at all, usually when she was traveling on holiday with my father while I stayed home for work. Even when I was in college, I saw her quite a bit.But now, I’m sitting in my office at work, contemplating asking Anna if we can tell her the truth. It’s a bit surprising to me that Sarah hasn’t spilled the beans. She must be highly dedicated to making sure that her daughter’s secret is kept. But then… she did keep the secret of who Anna’s father was for decades, so perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised that she can keep her mouth closed when she wants to.A knock on my office door takes me out of my thoughts. “Come in,” I call, hoping it’s not Carson. It’s not. It’s my secretary. “Pardon the interruption, Mr. Young, but Ms. Trudy would like you to come to her office right away.”My eyebrows shoot up. Today is the day she said she’d have the board’s decision about the CEO

  • Secret Billionaire CEO Daughter-in-Law   Back to Savage Gardens

*Anna*We’re home, and I couldn’t be happier. Grant and I walk inside, hand in hand. Bridgette greets us at the door. “Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Young,” she says. “Welcome home.”“Thank you,” Grant and I both say at the same time. We look at each other, grin, and start laughing.Bridgette giggles, too. “Is there anything we can get you? Are you hungry?” She folds her hands in front of us, leaning toward us in anticipation of our response. Even at this time of evening, she’s so well put together, her hair in a tight bun, her white button down crisp, and her black slacks unwrinkled. My father hired only the best to work in his home, that’s for sure.“We just ate,” Grant tells her. “But thank you so much for offering.”“Of course. That’s what we’re here for.” Her smile is kind. “How long do you think you’ll be staying here?”“Actually,” I begin, unable to control my face as I beam at her. “We’re here to stay.”Her eyes widen. “Really?”“That’s right,” Grant assures her. “We are ready t

  • Secret Billionaire CEO Daughter-in-Law   We're Out of Here

*Grant*Anna and I go to our room and grab our packed bags and my briefcase. We don’t linger. I don’t even glance over my shoulder. If I never come back to this house, never collect another item from this room, I’ll be all right with that.Shouts pour from the dining room as Anna and I walk, hand in hand, down the hallway toward the front door. I hear my cousins yelling at one another, but it’s difficult to understand what they are saying. Then, I hear Grandmother Trudy tell them to shut-up; they’ve already done enough damage running me off.Anna hears that, too, and stops walking. “Grandmother Trudy sounds pissed that you’re leaving. Are you sure you don’t want to stay?”Eyes wide, I stare at her for a few moments. “Of course, I’m sure. It’s too little, too late. She’s the one who triggered all of this to begin with, after all. Grandmother Trudy turned everyone else in the family against you. How can she pretend to be innocent now?”My wife’s face breaks into a grin. She presses up o

*Anna*“Have a seat, Anna,” Grandmother Trudy says from the end of the table. “We’re so glad that you and Grant were able to join us tonight. Recently, I guess the family has been too boring for you to come to dinner with us.”“Not boring, Grandmother Trudy,” I correct her. I pull up short of telling her the truth, though. She doesn’t need me to tell her that her family is incredibly rude to me, bordering on downright mean, and that’s why I don’t want to be here.“I hope everyone is in a good mood and willing to be nice this evening.” Grant sits beside me and places his napkin in his lap with a snap. If the rest of his family members are smart, they will catch his drift.“We are always nice,” his cousin, Veronica, says defensively, batting her eyelashes. “It’s nice to be honest, cousin.”“I would agree with that,” Grant says. “But some of you like to make up stories about other family members and pretend that it’s true.”She scoffs. “Nothing I ever say about our family members isn’t t
