4 Coaching (1)

“Look around when you sneeze!” protested Yohan between disgust and anger as he rubbed his face. ‘Pretty but dirty,’ Yohan thought to himself.

“Sorry, maybe someone is talking about me.” Kaluna reasoned while rubbing her nose.

“Seriously,” Yohan grumbled as he went to his own class.

Kaluna shrugged and let Yohan get out of her way. It was hard to tell if they were friends now or not since the fight that happened a few days ago.

“Kaluna, the bell has been ringing since fifteen minutes ago.” Estefan who happened to be passing by immediately reprimanded one of his students who was still casually sitting outside the classroom.

“Yes, Sir,” Kaluna replied while turning his head. “I’ll catch up later.”

Estefan shook his head and thought that Kaluna deserved special counselling for her unruly behaviour.

Kaluna entered the class after getting bored playing with her mobile phone outside. The teacher who was teaching chose to let Kaluna pass in front of her rather than give a reprimand that ended with a sweet smile at the corner of the girl’s lips.

Because almost all of the teachers at Oasis High School knew that Kaluna would be happy to be kicked out of class rather than attend lessons all day.

Kaluna casually sat in her seat, but she didn’t bother to pay attention to the art lesson that was going on. The girl was more interested in scribbling pointless chicken paws in her book without saying anything.

Some teachers began to urge Estefan to take strict action against Kaluna, or at least give her special coaching because he was the homeroom teacher who had great authority to change Kaluna’s behaviour.

“I want to meet with your parents,” Estefan said firmly to Kaluna during school hours. Some students who realised the arrival of their homeroom teacher hurriedly left the room as soon as possible, leaving Kaluna alone with Estefan.

“My parents are not here, Sir.” Kaluna said honestly. “How about staying with my aunt?”

“Don’t bargain,” Estefan said flatly. “I’ll expect your parents in the teacher’s office tomorrow morning.”

Kaluna took a breath.

“I’m serious, my parents aren’t here.” She explained as she looked at Estefan. “If you want to meet them, it’s also useless because you’ll only meet my mother and father’s gravestone.”

Estefan was stunned by Kaluna’s explanation.

“Are you an orphan?” asked Estefan with a slightly changed tone. “Your parents are dead?”

Kaluna nodded in affirmation.

“Tomorrow I’ll ask my aunt to come to school and see the teacher,” she said as she prepared to leave. “Excuse me, Sir.”

Estefan didn’t answer and let Kaluna go, leaving him in the classroom. Now he was starting to find a glimmer of light as to why one of his classmates could be so mischievous.

“Luna, you are told to go to the counselling room during break time.” Kiki told her during the change of class time.

“Just me?” asked Kaluna while turning her face.

Kiki nodded her head and immediately walked away.

When the break time arrived, Kaluna went to the counselling room lazily. She had been at Oasis High School for almost two months, and her wish to leave the school soon was hopefully granted today.

“Excuse me?” said Kaluna as she stepped into the counselling room whose door was slightly open. “Excuse me, Ma’am? Sir?”

There was no response at all, and Kaluna impudently entered the counselling room and sat in one of the chairs.

“I was told to come here,” Kaluna grumbled while sitting with her legs crossed, making her short skirt slightly exposed and revealing an inappropriate view.

“Kaluna, what the hell is that way you sit?” A cold but firm voice made Kaluna turn her head and see Estefan thrusting his sharp gaze at the girl. “Quickly put your feet down.”

Kaluna grinned widely and immediately lowered her legs to the same level. However, Estefan’s sharp eyes could still see that Kaluna’s skirt was too short for the school’s standard limits.

“Change your uniform,” Estefan ordered as he picked up a complete set of uniforms neatly stored in the cupboard and held them out to Kaluna.

“Seriously, Sir,” Kaluna said with a grin. “How am I impolite? The shirt and suit are complete, the skirt is also according to the rules ... Why are you wasting your uniform?”

Estefan didn’t think Kaluna would be so bold as to talk to a teacher. No wonder some of his co-workers were almost stressed out by Kaluna’s arbitrary behaviour.

“I’ll give you five minutes to change,” Estefan ordered firmly. “Otherwise ....”

“I want to be expelled from school?” Kaluna interrupted immediately.

Estefan was stunned to hear Kaluna’s words, from the tone of his voice it seemed as if ‘expulsion’ was one of his unfulfilled aspirations.

“You expect me to expel you from school?” Estefan commented in a cold tone. “I will make sure that Oasis High School is different from your previous schools. Now hurry up and change, I’ll be waiting outside.”

Estefan handed Kaluna a set of uniforms wrapped in clear plastic, after which he walked away to give Kaluna a chance to change.

Outside, Estefan stood in front of the closed door while taking off his glasses. However, he did not dare to linger for fear of a repeat of the previous incident.

When one of his students suddenly expressed his feelings to Estefan and without thinking, he immediately rejected it that very second.

“Kaluna, are you done yet?” asked Estefan while turning around after he put his glasses back on.

Kaluna did not answer Estefan’s call, making the young teacher impatient and calling him again.

“Kaluna?”

Still no answer.

“Kaluna, don’t be long!” Estefan opened the door to the counselling room and gasped when he saw Kaluna appearing indecent in front of him.

“Teacher, what’s a little patience?” Kaluna commented in a casual tone while one hand was buttoning his white shirt one by one.

Estefan refrained from swearing and he quickly locked the door tightly before any teacher passed by.

“Do you want to embarrass me as your homeroom teacher?” Estefan snapped with his eyes flashing while Kaluna casually smoothed her shirt sleeves.

“Put on your skirt now,” Estefan ordered firmly.

“Patience, Sir ....”

“Are you deliberately buying time?” Estefan snapped coldly. “Hurry up and put on your skirt before Mrs Sita comes to give you a coaching.”

Kaluna sighed with a lazy face.

“What kind of counselling, Sir?” She said as she reached for the skirt Estefan had picked up earlier. “If the teacher wants to expel me from school, go ahead. No need to take too long.”

Estefan narrowed his eyes, this was the first time in his entire life that he had met a female student as beautiful as Kaluna.

After Kaluna finished putting on her full uniform, Estefan was only willing to open the councelling room door.

“Mr Stefan, is Kaluna here?”

Estefan was surprised to find Mrs Sita already standing in front of the door when he opened it wide.
