5. Eavesdropping

Amelia has to listen to this nonsense unwillingly; after all, she is near, and her hearing is better than others; she didn’t hear what the other person on the side of the phone said, she can at least listen to what this missy said is going on and on about.

Amelia felt that these people were still in elementary school until now; they didn’t come out from their princess syndrome, haha, not princess syndrome; it may be cinderella’s ghost in their body.

As she was mulling over something, something suddenly hit her,

‘Isn’t this woman the one who was in the bathroom of the restaurant yesterday and was bragging about coming to the interview here? What a stroke of great luck, we meet again.’

Amelia chuckled in her heart; after that, she didn’t pay any attention to anyone.

She saw the magazine lying in front of her, so she picked it up and started to look through it.

She was so immersed in the magazine that she didn’t see that almost one-third of the candidates who came for the interview were empty.

What is even more terrific is whoever entered all had a different expression, somewhere frustrated, almost stumping, some were crying loudly, and some were cursing. All of them were sent out of the interview in just a few minutes.

When she completed the last page and looked up, she saw that almost one-third of the people who came for the interview were gone.

She was shocked to see how many were blasted out, and by seeing the eager look of the remaining women here, she can guess that the people have failed, and the rest are waiting for their chance.

Amelia looked around and got bored; then she thought she could come back in ten minutes and went to the restroom.

She came here just because she felt suffocated in the meeting hall.

She always detested heavy smells, especially cosmetics and perfume; today, she was in a room full of those smells. Amelia felt that her insides were churning; she thought she couldn't be there for another minute, interview or not.

She entered the washroom, and stood in front of the mirror, then opened the tap and splashed some water on her face, then cleaned her face; her make-up didn’t smudge as she had waterproof makeup.

As she was about to return, she heard someone coming here; she didn’t know why she wanted to be cheeky, so she hid in one of the inconspicuous cubic, which is not visible in normal time. She can see no one used this.

This one attracted Amelia’s eyes; just when she entered the washroom, at first, she didn’t think about this much, but now this has become handy.

As for why she is hiding here was because she heard voices coming from outside, and from the voices; she can intercept they are female, and with the sound of footsteps, she thought there were two women, but what made her hide was the information in their speech.

“This is one of the greatest chances to be near him and make him fall in love or use another method, you know.”

 This sentence made Amelia stop and listen to what they were talking about.

“I shouldn’t leak, but for you, I am willing to do that just because you are someone I have seen grown-up, and you are my friend’s daughter; by chance, if you made him marry you, then there will be no one who can beat you. You will become powerful and rich,” One of the females said; her voice was mature and steady without any up and down.

Amelia rolled her eyes, rich, powerful, really!!

“Aunt, I know what you are saying; what is there to leak? Everyone knows if anyone marries him, then they will be rich and powerful; what is new about this?” Another woman asked, her voice was a little bit arrogant and high pitched

Amelia again rolled her eyes; this time, it was because of the second woman’s voice.

She felt someone was screeching near her ears; she felt itchy and wanted to scratch her ear.

“You…. sigh what I am saying is, I heard from an inside source that whoever marries him will also have their share in inheritance, I don’t know how much but said to be almost enough to live luxuriously for a whole life. Do you understand what I mean, a whole life” The first woman said with a touch of unnoticeable sarcasm.

The second woman gasped loudly.

“Really?” 

“Yes, that’s why I am saying that you have to get this job; because this position is the ticket for you to be close with him; and to build a relationship with him emotionally or physically or maybe both, so you have to win this position no matter what.” 

The first woman pressed hard on ‘win the position.’

Amelia now not only want to roll her eyes also intends to ask them,

‘Are you stupid or what?’

Women nowadays only see climbing high, a job if it is a social ladder or a man's bed.

No dignity is seen in this type of woman.

Then she saw her watch, seeing that he has been here for more than twenty minutes, and if the interview went as it was then maybe now many have already failed, and it would be her turn, but seeing these two not going out, Amelia doesn’t know when she can leave.

She became a little disturbed by this.

She wanted to slap her head,

“Stupid, what was there to listen, this crap, now your interview is unknown, what will you do? Went to see the joke, now your life is going to be a joke. Have you ever heard anyone didn’t attend the interview even being in the interview venue like yourself where you boast yourself as the confident and determined young woman, huh”

 Amelia was kicking herself in her mind.

She knew that she should have left when she finished her job, but she and her mind, which never did one thing right, wanted to hear what they were talking about, now she was trapped here.

As she tried to figure out what to do, she suddenly heard the second woman say something.

“I will definitely win this position. Is there any woman here present who qualifies me? Your company doesn’t have any choice other than to recruit me.” 

Amelia heard the proud and arrogant tone, thought,

‘What a big tone.’

“Okay, I have pushed your interview in the middle; I think from the last you will be the sixth one, so we have to hurry, seeing how the interview went now I think your turn will be coming soon, so hurry, and I have already given you the questions, go and win the position,” That first woman said with great confidence that she knows that the second woman will definitely get a job.

Amelia wanted to ask her, ‘Is this your company? Are you the boss? Or that boss is your watchman?’

People are really delusional.

But she doesn’t have time to think much, only praying these two get out of here as soon as possible.

Maybe God heard her prayer, so both of them walked out of the washroom.

As soon as she saw that, she sighed in relief and ran out of the washroom.

In the intersection near the interview room, she stopped and then calmed herself then walked in; seeing that there were still some women waiting, she sighed in relief.

Even though she doesn’t have high hopes for this job, and above that, if it were about to happen as the two girls talked, she knows that even if she were great, she wouldn’t pass the interview; it was already fixed.

If it were really like that, she would definitely look down on this big company everyone praises.

She came to where she was sitting; she was stumped when she looked at the person beside her.

This….this woman was still doing makeup.

From the time she came here, she saw this person was looking at the selfie camera and checking her makeup until now; she is doing the same.

Amelia found things boring sitting here and looking around; she almost dozed when she heard the same voice in the bathroom.

When she looked up, she saw two women were arguing with each other.

Their voices actually scared everyone as they all stood and looked at the drama going on.

“Why am I not selected? I have more qualifications than everyone, and I also answered every question they have asked, then why?” A young woman asked while her voice was slowly rising as she asked.

“How would I know? I will go and check…” before another woman completed, there was someone who came from the interview room, and everyone looked at them.

“Mrs. Green, the boss just notified you that you are fired.” 

The one who came out was a man with a suit and serious face, who had an aura of superior looking at the way the so-called “Mrs. Green” whose face ashen she can see that boss isn’t someone on normal manager may be higher-ups. This Green woman isn’t some normal worker here; she may hold some important position.

“Mr. Smith, w...what do you mean, why will the CEO fire me? What did I do?” Mrs. Green asked with a raised voice, but anyone could see she was trembling.

Amelia suddenly become interested in,

Isn’t it because of what they were talking about in the bathroom? If that is, then this is a really good show.

‘Hmph, at least this CEO isn’t muddle headed’ Amelia thought in her mind.

Her eyes were bright, like she was looking at something very interesting; if it weren’t for being a company, maybe Amekla would have clapped and shouted ‘once more’ also.
