CHAPTER TWO

DAHLIA

"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry." Lily kept her face down. " I didn't mean to do this."

"So he forced you. Is that what you are saying?" I tried to keep my voice calm and collected.

Getting mad was giving them too much credit for hurting me.

This was so embarrassing and painful, but I could save face. I could carry myself with dignity and not show emotion.

That much I could do.

She looked at me and down again.

I was much older than Lily. She knew as much as I did that her life here was because of me.

"I ...he didn't. But I'm sorry Dahlia. I feel so miserable now. I'm---"

" That's enough!" Evans shot at her, buttoning up his fly. "Shut your mouth."

Startled, she looked at him. "Evans?"

"You heard me. Shut up and get out."

Surprise was on her features, but she nodded and with one more remorseful look at me she went away.

At that point I knew what this was all about.

Lily was 18. A naive girl who was still coming off puberty and all that.

Evans had used her.

Played with her girly emotions.

Seduced her.

Because I could see real pain in Lily's face at knowing she had hurt me. And I could tell at the same time she was under Evan's spell.

Evans was an upcoming rookie player. Slowly building his way, making an entry into the list of the hotties.

And all that, with my help and the way I kept polishing his image to perfection.

"She was my cousin. You should have left her alone. She doesn't know any better,"

My words were weak. I knew. I was battling with the pain in my chest and at the same time a swirling view of my surrounding that made it almost unlikely to remain on my feet.

Evans rolled his eyes. "Yeah whatever. She is old enough to make decisions for herself."

My mouth dropped.

I couldn't believe it!

Did he just give me this response?

Oh gods! Who was I even dating?

I was beginning to realize maybe I never even knew him.

I didn't know who Evans was. Before that is.

Because now he was starting to come to limelight.

"How dare you! Evans!" My heart was racing, shredding.

"What do you want me to say? Yeah you've seen it all. What else do you want?"

I scoffed, trying to hold back the tears that climbed my throat.

The tears that threatened to blur my sight.

"Yeah. I have indeed seen it all. We are done Evans." I threw his key towards him. It clanged against the black steel treadmill he was close to and fell on the floor.

"You should be more respectful towards me Dahlia ... maybe then I wouldn't consider fucking others."

" Fuck you Evans!" The tears rolled down now.

I didn't stop them.

My head was ringing.

My ears were ringing.

"Fuck you! And I am done with you!"

He shrugged. "Alright. If you say so. Ensure that you don't fail to show up to work tomorrow. And I might require you to come a bit earlier. Preseason games start soon." He casually relaxed against the wall.

" Yeah. I am done working for you as well."

His face dropped. " You are joking."

He knew what it meant for him.

I alone knew how to clean his mess up. And boy did he get into so many messes.

Scuffles with players from opponent teams.

Arrogant attitude to fans who wanted to talk to him.

Fights with his own teammates. But so far, most of them decided to stay off his bad side.

Even the team's public pr department which most of the hockey players worked with, didn't think they could manage Evans as much as I did and commended me from time to time.

"You heard me. I'm done." My face was cold, yet it was a sharp contrast to the hotness in my chest.

He chuckled. "Then tell me ...who are you going to work with? As you already know, all the players are using the team's pr department. Or you didn't realize I was actually doing you a favor?" A smirk that irritated me so much, formed on his lips. "Get back to work tomorrow Dahlia."

"Are you deaf? I said I am done."

A realization started forming in his eyes.

In his face.

It became clear to him I was serious. "What's making you this cocky? Because you think you are the best? Well here's what you don't realize." He got off the wall. "Even if you manage to pitch yourself to any of the other players ...none of them will take you. Maybe you are forgetting they are all good with me. And no one wants to get on my bad side."

He had a point.

All the players avoided having issues with him. For the sake of teamwork and togetherness.

Because the thing with Evan was he really didn't care about team. He could scatter a playoff if he got pissed.

And the coach would still consider him on the team because he was fast rising.

But there was one person. One person who didn't care about none of that.

The hockey captain. Giveon Richardson

They hated themselves so much. Evans, because Giveon was at the top and he coveted the position.

Giveon, because Evans wouldn't stop being a pain in his butt. And a mess on the rink that the coach just wouldn't clean up.

If it was left to Giveon, Evans would have been out since ..and that pissed him off.

Because Evans used that to taunt him, making him feel like he couldn't do anything.

And I was caught in the middle.

Yes, Giveon hated my guts as well. Who wouldn't, the girlfriend of your worst enemy?

"There's still Giveon ...and I am going to work with him." I blurted without thinking twice about my foolish statement.

CHAPTER EIGHT GIVEONEvans had been a thorn in my flesh for as long as I could remember. He knew I was just captain and couldn't get him out of the team so he maneuvered his way, always pissing me off. Of course he never defaulted on ice or I would have found my opportunity to teach him numerous lessons, so he smartly plotted his mischief. Seeing as he was careless already with his public image, and needed Dahlia to clean up after him, it went to show he didn't really care about anything. Yes hockey was a sport he loved and he did well in it. But his cockiness and inflated sense of self, which by the way was delusional, was his problem. As for Dahlia, Evans would have never really gotten under my skin if not for her. She was the reason my hatred for Evans cooked and simmered. She was the reason I allowed him get to me. As much as I tried to deny it, I always felt like what belonged to me had been taken from me.That did all sorts of things to me. And so I hated Dahlia. I act

  • Secretive Deal With The Hockey Star    Stray Dog

CHAPTER SEVENDAHLIA The streets were cold, empty except the occasional stray dog. The night lights shone from their steel lamps casting a yellow glow on the ground. The trees billowed in the wind close to where I was but I could still make out clearly the sound offootsteps behind me. I turned to see Lily tailing me.She wore a pink crop top--my pink top, and jeans. I should have remembered to take my keys from her. I was carried away with my anger towards Evans I didn't remember Lily any longer. But now that I stood in front of her, staring as she walked towards me, I didn't know if it was anger I was feeling now or something else. Something that looked more like pity. She was truly a young girl. 18 years of age, and Evans had thought to take advantage of her?But then again she was already a consenting adult. More times than I could count she had gone against my advice, wanting to prove her independence. I hoped now she had finally achieved her aims. "Stalking me Lily? Aft

CHAPTER SIXDAHLIA Giveon gave out a sigh of frustration. " One day I'll have to strangle that man." He said more to himself, then said. " What's the issue?" "Two newbies ..wants to introduce them to the team." Giveon growled." And he didn't think to do that later? Fucking hell. He does know the roster spots full though?"" Yeah, but we could do with some new talents. You already know that. Quit being an ass and come on."Giveon shook his head. " I'll be out in a bit. Now GTFO"Footsteps receded then.I had straightened myself and my dress up, starting to feel the aftereffects of everything that had transpired. The uncertainty. The 'what the fuck did I just do?'But I didn't have time to process my thoughts when Giveon pulled me to himself and kissed me. "Don't miss me too much baby. I'll be back."" You don't have to worry. I won't miss you." I wriggled out of his hold. Then I checked to make sure I wasn't looking like I had been through an electric hazard. Giveon cocked his h

CHAPTER FIVE DAHLIA "10"9"8"7"6"5"4I couldn't hear when he counted to one, because my ears were echoing loudly the pounding in my heart. All I knew was one moment, he kept counting and the next he had crashed his lips into mine.I wanted to resist, but I didn't. I couldn't. I was too weak. My legs wouldn't have been able to carry me. His tongue slipped into mouth and I opened up. His kiss was fierce. Possessive. Like he had been hungry for a very long time and only just now was he getting what he had wanted. His ferocious kisses sent tingles down my spine. His tongue probing, searching, exploring mine. I let him kiss me for a while before I began responding, slowly. I kissed him back. Because I couldn't hold back any longer. I couldn't deny the waves of pleasure he sent through me. His strong arms wrapped around mine and held me tighter against him. In response, I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him in for a deeper kiss. I was going to worry about the c

  • Secretive Deal With The Hockey Star    Dark, black hair

CHAPTER FOUR DAHLIA Dark, black hair. Blue eyes that signaled he was a god on the ice. That he was born for it. It made women burn inside for him. "That a certain nuisance no longer has his shit cleaner by his side. I'm expecting to see more collosal mess ups this time around."I didn't know if I would say I wanted that too. I didn't know if at this point I didn't really care about Evans and I was just trying to save my hide. "Well, he could still use the team's pr department." " That would be the beginning of the end for him." He drank his tea, not saying anything more. He was right. The team's pr department wouldn't tolerate Evans as much as I could. I had been the one holding him up. Polishing his image so well that the coach saw good need of him. And now that I was out of the picture, Evans would be in big trouble if he kept messing up and throwing caution into the wind. "What do you want?" He asked when he dropped the cup. It was now. It was now ...or never. "Eva

  • Secretive Deal With The Hockey Star    Cold aura

CHAPTER THREEDAHLIA Evans cocked his head. "I never knew you were that daft. Someone that hates you?" " It's you that he hates," I wanted to say more, deny it, but I couldn't because I knew he was right. Last time when I was in close proximity to Giveon, his scowl alone made me tuck in my tail and scurry away. He was terrifying. "Since you've become so delusional ...now I am pretty much glad to let you go." He laughed. "My goodness. Who wants to be with someone as delusional as you? I wish you the best then. Let's see how that works out."It sounded like a dare. It sounded like a threat. And I wasn't one to back down from it. I narrowed my eyes, clenching my fists. "Let's see how that works out." I repeated his words back to him, and then turned, leaving the gym. Luckily for me, the players all had rooms in the Training facility so it was easier for me to locate Giveon's quarters. It was quite bigger than the other players, because it was the Captain's quarters. I knocked
