ROSE
I woke up the next morning with a killer headache and Carina laying at the foot of my bed. Idiot.
As I looked at her weirdly positioned self, an evil idea made its way into my mind. So, I slowly crept out of bed, tiptoeing and allowing the wolf side of me to take over. I then went to the bathroom, filled my water jug with some water, snuck back into my room and dumped it all over Carina. She awoke with a loud scream while I just stood there, arms crossed and an evil smirk on my face.
"The other day you questioned my maturity. This would be revenge!" I said.
Carina looked up through her soaking red strands of hair. She was drenched with theicy water which made her poor, expensive, navy dress cling to her body.
"Rose! I hate you!" She yelled.
I shook my head and tisked.
"That's shameful, hating your alpha. Now, as punishment, you have to go and oversee today's Elder ceremony."
My own cleverness never ceased to surprise me! I just thought of these as I went. Now I really didn't have to attend the stupid ceremony where old werewolves gathered and celebrated that they were alive. To be honest, the Elder ceremony had to be one of the most boring werewolf traditions in existence.
Carina couldn't look more enraged. Even her face was as red as her hair.
"WHAT! I'M NOT GOING THERE. YOU'RE THE ALPHA, YOU-"
"Can do whatever I please. Now go on, get moving. They aren't getting any younger. Literally." I said.
Carina left with loud stomping footsteps and malicious mumbles.
I sighed. Patting myself on the back and then went to go and shower. While I stood under the warm water, I began recalling last night's events. Deamian apologised for abandoning me, we danced, we drank and then... I remembered nothing after that. Slowly I started to panic... what did I do after drinking? I hoped that I didn't go on being... an idiot. I hated idiots, and for me to be one... that would be a huge disgrace. A blotch to stain my spotless pride.
Then my mind drifted to something even worse. What if Deamian and I kissed or what if we even-
Slowly I switched the taps off, pulling myself together and telling myself constantly. It was only one night. Nobody remembers that you were even there. Get yourself together Alpha!
And soon I started to calm down, listening to my own voice in my head. I then went to go and check the time and saw that it was time to go and check up on my.... what could I call him? My disappointment of a mate? The mutt who shared a soul bond with me? Oh wait, I had a good one! My little puppy! That's it.
I made my way out of my home and proceeded to walk the massive pack grounds. It was once again and ordinary day for the pack. Warriors were at the training grounds, practising early training, children ran around and enjoyed their Saturday. Couples strolled along the streets and laughed and talked. Everything was so peaceful and perfect. And everything stayed peaceful and perfect until I passed the restaurant. As I walked past the window, I noticed a pair of familiar blue eyes watching me. I had to do a double take to make sure my mind wasn't being stupid and playing tricks on me. Once I was sure that my mind was in fact not being nasty, I started making my way inside the restaurant. All the while internally screaming. The eyes kept watch on me until I reached their owner's table. I stood there, arms folded, and a look of irritation plastered on my face.
"Deamian, to what do I owe this displeasure?" I asked. I was starting to believe that I needed to give my guards strict orders not to let this idiot enter the pack grounds.
He gave that classic smirk of his and placed his hands behind his head.
"I thought I'd come and visit you. Also, I needed to make sure you were okay... after all your drinking last night!" He said.
"Mmm hmm," I said raising my eyebrows and looking at him sceptically. I didn't buy it. This was the second time that he had been here in such a short period of time. Something was fishy.
"I'm being honest!" He said, knowing my look very well.
I was now more irritated than before. I attend one stupid party of his and now he thought we were the best of friends. How absurd! He was way more stupid than I thought.
"Look, I don't want you here, you're just taking up space and oxygen so could you please go somewhere else. I'm busy and I don't have time for this." I said.
He frowned, "What a way to greet a friend-"
"-You and I are not friends!" I cut him off. But, as always, he chose to ignore my very true, and very hurtful comment.
"Look, I just want to spend the day with you okay?"
Clearly, he wasn't understanding. "Like I said, I'm busy. But if you're going to insist on staying then you might as well. Just stay out of my way. Otherwise I'll arrest you for trespassing." I said. As if I could. He’d break out in a second, and he would also find out about my little secret puppy.
This seemed to make him chuckle and he replied with, "That would be an insult to my very being! How could you possibly arrest the son of a Goddess? Pathetic!" He said.
I rolled my eyes. Before he could say anything else though, his waitress appeared with a cup of coffee and a friendly smile on her face.
"Can I just say that it is so great to see you after all these yea-"
"Yeah yeah, Deamian is back. Let's all go and have a celebration for this moron!” I then turned to Deamian and sarcastically said, “Why don't we all start a parade and chant your name throughout the streets because we missed you so much?”
His waitress frowned at me and proceeded to hand Deamian his coffee.
"Hello Maria! It's great to see you again. Rose is really grumpy nowadays!" He "whispered”.
"You know I can hear you, right?" I said.
He gave me a duh look and then said, "You don't say!"
Did he just... He was using my sarcasm against me.
Instead of dwelling on it, I shook my head, finally remembering the real reason for my already long and painful outing.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go do some... stuff. It was great seeing you again Deamian!" I said, sarcastically emphasising the “great”.
I walked out and was about to celebrate for getting myself out of that situation when I heard Deamian's footsteps near me. Oh Joy!
"Where are you going?" He asked.
It was then that I froze and realised that he could not find out that I had a mate… not only would he use it against me, he would no doubt broadcast it to his mother… somehow.
"I've decided to spend the day with you!" I said with a fake smile plastered on my face as I turned on my heels to face him.
This was going to be such a delightful day. Delightfully dreadful!
ROSE"Grayson, get off your phone and help your baby sister get the cereal from the cupboard... I'm not joking Gray! Right now!" I yelled as I put the kettle on.Grayson, the young boy I'd rescued nine years ago had grown into a handsome, healthy and very grumpy teenager. I treated him as I did his younger sister, my own biological child and expected him to take the role of alpha... After I transformed him into a werewolf (it was a promise I made to him). I absolutely adored both of my children."Mom, can't she use a ladder to get it down herself." Gray yelled as he took his headphones off.I shook my head at him, grabbed the cereal and handed it to the copper haired girl with piercing blue eyes."Here we go Rachel."She smiled and sat next to her brother, sticking her tongue out and teasing him. I chuckled. Soon Deami
ROSEI was lying on the floor, winded and in shock. What kind of sick and twisted person was she? She must have been a teenager when she'd instructed Adamson to do such a thing... How sick was Scarlett... And how sick was Adamson to obey her. A young girl giving a slightly older boy such an instruction. It was then that I remembered it all. Adamson. He was why I became what I became. He was ruthless when it came to my torture and the deaths of my parents, an older teenage boy. That's what he was back then. A teenager committing acts of terror. And if he was so young and could do such horrible things, what stopped me. When I'd finally escaped, he'd left.It was then that I grew angry. I felt my bones begin to crack and I howled out as fur began to sprout from my skin. I was turning."What?" Scarlett gasped. I guess she forgot about my little unusual ability to transform.
ROSEScarlett stood there in shock. She still couldn't believe it. However, in a matter of minutes her face grew to desperation and she grabbed a nearby rogue."This will have to do!" She said. She cut him, bled him into the ceramic, recited something in ancient tongue and then drank the mixture. It honestly happened so fast that I had no time to react and in a matter of moments, her body began thrashing forward and back, her eyes rolled back, and she fell to the ground. Horrified but still aware of her growing threatening presence I inched closer to her now still body which lay on the ground. Suddenly, her eyes darted open, her hair immediately changing into a dark silver colour and her eyes started becoming a reddish colour. This didn't feel right. What did she do to herself? She stood up so quickly I barely saw her, and then smiled. What the hell."See I may not be
ROSEI didn't know how to feel or how to act. By this time, Deamian had explained everything to me and I was in a state of utter shock. Apparently, Scarlett was taking her revenge on Deamian because she expected to become the next and final moon goddess since they were in love. Now she had a whole revenge plan calculated and constructed to perfection. She was the one who dragged him out of the place but could not bring me along because they hadn’t had enough time. They needed Deamian's Moon blood seeing as he was half of his mom's species. They also needed me for the moon flower essence which I had absorbed, which meant I walked right into their trap. They needed to do it now, before the essence integrated with my DNA and it became impossible to extract. That meant, they only had today. I wish I'd known. I wish I'd been more aware, less naive and gullible. I wish I were alpha Rose and not Rose, Moon Goddess with actual emotions.
ROSEScarlett and I were quiet as we drove. We both knew that when push came to shove, I'd have to use what little power I had... And that would leave me vulnerable and ready to be caught, just as they wanted. There was no denying that this was a trap, that they knew I would stop at nothing to find Deamian who was currently more important than I was when it came to fulfilling their plans.Soon we passed a sign that read "Nightfall Valley". The infamous public werewolf graveyard. Although it was now old and abandoned, there'd been rumours of ghosts at night haunting the place. That was probably true... But I highly doubted they were ghosts. We passed the entrance and I parked on the pavement, next to a pile of rotting wood. Once we exited the car, I felt it. The lingering feeling of the bond between Deamian and I."He's here!" I said, and then grabbed the rifle and swung it around me. It would
ROSEThe next morning, I woke up to the feeling of a cold and empty bed with nothing but a scribbled note next to me. It read:Would have grabbed you too but your boyfriend gave us quite a struggleImmediately goodebumps formed on my flesh and I began shaking. They had taken Deamian in our sleep. They had taken him, and I had no clue where the hell he was. Immediately I jumped out of bed, following his scent out of the house and towards the centre of the pack grounds, not caring that I was in pyjamas because the place was practically deserted with all the killings that had happened the previous night.Panic ran through me as I reached the end of the pack grounds at the gate and the scent of Deamian just disappeared. I even tried to tap into our mind link, try to enter his mind, but I felt still so weak, like a new-born baby.&
