Suspicion

I've never wanted an elevator to move fast enough. Surprisingly, Carolina didn't say anything until we reached the ground floor. During the short elevator ride, she just stared at me with a smirk on her face. It scared me more than words could.

"Leave my mother alone," I warned her as I stepped out of the elevator. She followed me, her heels clicking against the floor.

"I will," She said. "If you leave Mason Steele alone. Spend at least two weeks without interacting with him and I'll let your mother go. For now, she'll continue to be my dearest friend."

She walked away after speaking. Some nurses who were coming out of one of the rooms gasped when they saw her. Carolina ignored everyone around her, looking straight ahead as she made her way out of the building.

A horde of paparazzi was waiting outside, but her bodyguard pushed them aside like flies as they went back to their jet.
