It was a disaster.

A total, fucking disaster.

Daniel spent a solid ten minutes pacing around the horse like it was a crime scene, studying the black beast as if it might confess its crimes. He tried to look unbothered—nonchalant—but I saw the pulse pricking dark against his throat, the way his fingers trembled before he shoved them back into his pockets.
