Did I hear him right or is it just my imagination running wild, he just called the one. Is it what I think it is?

"Father, can you please repeat what you just said for clarity?" I wanted to be sure.

"Do you have a problem with him?"

He asked and I glanced at him, why would I have a problem with him? Gosh, my blood is boiling with excitement.

"Besides, he is the only one I trust to look after you the same way I do." He had no idea how happy I was to be entrusted to him. I get to see him every single day living under the same roof, I don't have to dream about him anymore because it would soon be a reality.

"Or is there......"

"Say no more, Father. I trust your judgement." I cut him off before he could bring another option that would make me sulk.

This was the best good news I have ever heard in my entire life. I get the chance to be with him and not only that, make him mine. I am ready to do anything to make him fall for me. I tossed in my bed feeling excited, I can't wait till the next week to be with him.

I yawned feeling sleepy and closed my eyes to get some shut-eye with a smile plastered on my face.

The day my father will be leaving arrived. I woke earlier than usual and prepared my father's favorite meal before he got out of bed.

As I cook, I hummed my favorite song while twerking. It was the weekend and I had no class, it was the perfect day to rejoice.

"You seem happy." My father's voice made me straighten up. I smiled at him and gestured for him to sit.

"I'll miss you." I said while dishing the food, he smiled and pinched my cheek.

"We will see each other soon."

I chuckled at what he said. "You mean three years later."

"We will still get in touch, so why would you miss me?" He said, pointing at his laptop.

"My bad, I won't miss you."

I replied before stuffing my mouth full. He laughed at me, not because of what I said but what I just did.

"That reminds me when you were still a child, back then you ......."

"Oh, Father, please." I didn't let him say the rest, he probably wanted to say boring stuff about my childhood.

I followed him to the airport to see him off, he has been a single parent to me without my mother beside him, and now he is leaving alone. I hugged him and told him to take care of himself.

After I left the airport, my heart rate increased, I was going to meet him at his place. I made sure to dress nicely and tied my hair in a way to make me look cute.

I arrived at his place with my luggage, it was actually the first time I was coming over to his house. He lives in a duplex, from the outside I could tell the interior will be magnificent. I pressed the bell and someone I didn't recognize opened the door and ushered me inside. I scrutinized her face and no memory of her appeared in my head.

I had to ask, "who are you?"

She smiled before answering. "I'm the housekeeper."

"Oh, I see. I'm Sarah." I stretched my hands for a handshake.

"I'm Erin." She still had a smile plastered on her face. She looked to be in her late 20's with big eyes and average height. She had fairer skin than mine and to be honest, she was good-looking.

"Where's Mr. Clinton?" I asked. Clinton was Xavier's last name.

"He hasn't returned but he will be back soon, he told me to help you arrange your stuff." She answered and helped me take my luggage inside. Only when she left did I notice my surroundings. The spacious room was elegantly furnished with plush velvet sofas, antiques, and Persian rugs. I stroked my hands on the velvet sofa as I admired the shimmering crystal chandelier. I never knew he was this rich; I really knew nothing about him but I only knew he is a surgeon.

Erin showed me to my room and told me to rest. I thanked her for helping me place all my stuff. She just smiled. She really does smile a lot, is it some kind of code of conduct for a housekeeper that I'm unaware of or it's just her personality.

She told me she was going home and I said goodbye to her before she left. I lay on my bed daydreaming, I couldn't wait to see him. I fell asleep and woke up in the evening and still he hasn't returned. To keep myself busy, I strolled around the house to familiarize myself with my new home.

As I approached the kitchen, an idea popped up in my head. My lips curled as I got ready to execute my plan. I went back to my room and grabbed my trusty apron. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I wanted to find out if what they say is true. Making something delicious would make him see my worth, so I decided to start with that before moving on to the next phase.

I grabbed the knife and started chopping the vegetables, back then when I was fourteen I overheard him saying he loved vegetables, especially carrots, and since then, I've been eating carrots like there was no tomorrow. And now I decided to make him something he would never forget the taste for a lifetime.

I smiled to myself when I saw how appetizing the food looked. That night when my father told me about the job transfer, I planned every move and methods I was going to use on him to make him fall for me. I did a lot of research on how to make a man feel good. I saw some shameless things online but I'll start with offering myself as his personal chef before moving on to the next display of affection. I know I might display some weird behavior but I'll start with reasonable ones before getting to the real game. I'm not going to rush things; I'll steal his heart slowly so he will be unable to say no when I finally confess my feelings to him.

I set the dining table and poured some wine awaiting his arrival. I made sure everything looked good before nodding in satisfaction.

I went to the bathroom to wash up and wore one of my favorite dresses. A pink short off-shoulder gown which showed my cleavages a little, I loosened my hair free as it touched my waist and wore my best friend's perfume. Well, I asked her for it since I was waiting for this special day; I'm not really good at buying perfumes. My thighs were exposed and that's exactly what I wanted.

I went to the living room, took a deep breath, and sat on the sofa crossing my legs while playing with my fingers awaiting his arrival.

A month had passed since we left Paris. Our little family had settled into a cozy villa overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Well, we moved in for the wedding, actually. Now, standing in front of the mirror, I smoothed out my lace wedding gown. My heart fluttered as I thought of Xavier waiting for me at the altar. "Sarah, you look stunning," my maid of honor said, adjusting my veil. Who else would it be? It's my best friend, Helen. I smiled, feeling like a princess. The ceremony was intimate, with only close friends and family attending. "Hey, kiddo." A voice interrupted my thoughts, bringing a smile to my face. "The guests are waiting. Are you just gonna sit there and admire yourself?" Juniper appeared at the door, crossing her arms and wearing a feigned frown on her face. Juniper had helped out with the wedding planning; she even brought her kids along. Although I was grateful for her expertise, her planning ways exceeded Xavier's budget, but he didn't complain. "Juniper, you'

SARAH'S POV "About what!" I snapped, my eyes blazing. Xavier held my shoulders to placate me, but I was beyond reasoning. My baby was at risk because of him, and he was lucky nothing happened to him or her. If something had happened, I would have... I stopped and forced myself to stay calm when I noticed my father's soft gaze.He leaned against the wall without speaking, letting me pour out my anger. Only when I was done did he finally speak. "I meant to say..." He hesitated, glancing at Xavier. "I'm... sorry."It was as if he forced those words right out of his mouth.I looked away, breaking eye contact, and Xavier gently stroked my shoulder again."Sarah, calm down. Don't stress yourself out, okay?"Yeah, I'm pregnant. I shouldn't stress myself out.I flashed him a soft smile and leaned on his shoulders, making sure to avoid eye contact with my father."Sarah, I'm happy for you," my father continued, despite my bad attitude. "Now that there's nothing else I can do, you're free to l

My eyes widened in shock as I found Sarah lying on the bed, pale and motionless. In an instant, my heart sank, and my world crumbled around me."Sarah?" I whispered, approaching her cautiously. My legs felt heavy, as if rooted to the spot, but I forced myself to move closer. William's presence faded into the background, irrelevant to the only thing that mattered – Sarah.I gently sat beside her, my hand reaching out to brush away the strands of hair clinging to her forehead. Her skin felt cold and clammy."Sarah," I whispered, my voice trembling. Her eyelids fluttered open, and our gazes met. For a moment, I saw a glimmer of recognition, a spark of life. But it was fleeting. Her eyes, once bright and full of laughter, now seemed dull and lifeless."Sarah, please," I begged, my voice cracking. "Talk to me.""Sarah!" William, who had finally broken out of his stupor, rushed over to her side, shaking her gently, completely disregarding my presence. Then he froze, staring at Sarah, as the

XAVIER'S POV"Daddy, when is Sarah coming back?" Elizabeth had asked after I had watched as William's car disappeared, taking Sarah away from me. My heart felt like it had been ripped out. I couldn't believe I had to let her go.But I knew it was necessary. William's anger and determination to keep us apart were palpable.I crouched down to meet Elizabeth's height, her big brown eyes filled with concern. "Soon, sweetie. Sarah needs to go for now." I offered a reassuring smile."Where's William, her dad?" Harper chimed in, her brow furrowing. "Did the two of them leave?"I glanced up at Harper, who stood beside Hayden, his expression serious as if they were interrogating me.I let out a sigh and tried to simplify the truth. "Like I said, they're gone, but—" I was interrupted by Elizabeth whining. Her face scrunched up. "Why did Sarah leave without telling us? This is so unlike her."I took a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. "Sometimes, grown-ups need to figure things out. She

With my curiosity piqued, I got off the bed and made my way to the door. Walking down the hallway, the sound of heels clinking on the floor grew louder, making me even more curious about who had come to visit. Ever since I moved in, we’ve never had visitors, and that thought only fueled my curiosity.I entered the living room only to find a woman and my father walking from the door. My father’s gentle smile was a stark contrast to the tension that had filled the air moments before.Seriously? So I am the only downer here who won't get what she wants. I scoffed and quietly strode towards them.My eyes remained fixed on the lady, and I couldn’t help but keep my mouth wide open as I saw her intimate with my father. Her lips were pressed against my father's, and he responded with equal fervor, completely oblivious to my presence. So he has a girlfriend in Paris, huh?Way to go, Father; only you deserve happiness.I felt a mix of disgust and betrayal surging through me. "Welcome to my humble abode. Don't you like the view?" My father's cheerful voice cut through my thoughts. Again. He kept interrupting my moping with his unnecessary small talk and fake enthusiasm. Can't he see I'm still reeling from the pain he's caused?I forced a glance around the luxurious penthouse apartment, trying to appear unimpressed. To be honest, it was quite breathtaking, but I wouldn't say it."It's nice, Father," I said flatly, my voice devoid of enthusiasm. My father's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered."I'm glad you like it. You'll be comfortable—""Cut the small talk,I wasn't done talking." I spat, cutting him off. I chuckled, still glancing around. "It's just that it's missing something."My father, sensing my fake enthusiasm, leaned close with a smile. "What do you think is missing?"A mischievous grin spread across my face as I replied, "My happiness."My father's smile froze, his eyes widening, caught off guard by my true intention."Sarah, co
